We are back with the third challenge as part of the Anniversary events. Accompanying the challenge today is a recap of a specific year within the Club Penguin Armies’ history.

LEAGUE HISTORY
On July 1, 2022, Club Penguin Army Network and Club Penguin Army Headquarters merged to form Club Penguin Armies. This marked an era of unity for the community, with CPA becoming one of the longest-lasting organisations of the CPPS era. Throughout the history of the org, there have been countless admins and staff who have ushered in new eras of growth despite setbacks. This week, we set out to honour our history by going back in time and looking at the work of each admin and what they did for the community.
Legends Cup XIII
Today, our focus is on the second year of Club Penguin Armies, which spans from July 2023 to July 2024. Right at the beginning of the era, Legends Cup XIII was announced on July 6, 2023. As the tournament unfolded through a series of vicious battles, the final match on August 5, 2023, would see the Army of Club Penguin vs. Rebel Penguin Federation. This match brought out the best in both armies, as an overtime room decided the winner. With such a historic trophy on the line, neither would give up easily. In the end, the Clovers finished stronger, bringing home the tournament victory.
Administration Changes
This year is very important, as this era of admins would take the foundation that was built and drive CPA into the future. Right before this era of CPA began, we saw the induction of two new admins, alongside the already serving admin, Wynn. With McHappy and Disha now stepping into the position, CPA had three very capable individuals to lead its future. This trio would not last very long, however, as Wynn would officially step down on October 8, 2023. After this, McHappy and Disha would lead CPA as a duo up until April 8, 2024. When this day came, Coolguy was announced as the newest member of the admin team. Once again, this new trio would not last long, as Disha would resign on June 15, 2024. By the end of this second year, McHappy and Coolguy were the only active admins.
Community and Internal
The community of Club Penguin Armies had seen a lot of flourishing this year. CPA needed to gain the trust of the community at large in order to thrive. With events like CPA Census 2023 and the release of a new map, CPA was delivering. On top of this, the Reporting Department of CPA set out to find what type of content people wanted to see produced. This type of transparency also extended to the Army Board, where posts like ‘What’s Up With The Army Board’ showed off their commitment to this.
At the start of the new 2024 year, CPA performed a Year In Review for 2023. In this, various members of the army community answered questions about the state and outlook of Club Penguin Armies. It is extensive in detail, highlighting the determination to build a strong league.
This entire era would also bring the community together with fun activities, special events, and celebrations. Throughout this era, all of these were being hosted constantly. Chess tournaments, writing competitions, Mario Kart gaming, igloo contests, and Power Couples contests are only some examples of how the community came together.
Tournaments
After the Legends Cup XIII concluded, the next tournament in the year was Beach Brawl III. The organisers selected this tournament over the Challengers Cup. Four teams went in, but the People’s Imperial Confederation came out victorious. Sadly, of all the teams invited, none are active today.
Following the Beach Brawl III tournament is the Halloween tournament, Trick Or Treat Trials. In this tournament, a special format was used to declare winners. Rooms announced during the battles would be classified into two types: Trick Rooms and Treat Rooms. Each type had a different set of criteria to earn extra points. At the end of the tournament, the Army of Club Penguin demonstrated complete understanding of the new scoring formula with a 3-0 sweep in the Grand Finals.
The next tournament in line would be another seasonal one. As one of the league’s biggest tournaments, Christmas Chaos XIII was surely not to be missed. A major tournament like this one calls for major preparation, and there is no room for mistakes. As the tournament unfolded, the Grand Finals showed how much the trophy meant to the armies. Ultimately, the Water Vikings did everything they needed to triumph over everyone else.
After Christmas Chaos XIII closed out 2023, CPA quickly announced the New Year Bonanza 2024. This tournament also had a unique format where armies did not know who they would be facing up against until they entered a room. It was a crazy and exciting tournament where real strategy thrived. In the Major bracket, ACP won it all. In the Small/Medium bracket, PIC claimed the trophy.
Now that the new year had rolled out, the time had come for March Madness IX. Like Christmas Chaos, this is another elite tournament that draws the attention of everyone around the league. With armies bringing out their absolute best, there was no doubt that this tournament would deliver. Of course, there can only be one winner, and the Water Vikings showed no mercy this time around.
This second year of CPA was evidently thrilling for tournaments. Building on this even more, the league announced the new Around The World Cup. This tournament uses a round robin format to feature battles from all time zones in both the Major and Small/Medium brackets. Claiming the trophy in the Major division was ACP, with the Small/Medium trophy belonging to PIC. This tournament marked the end of the era.
