Templars Find Themselves Moved To Small-Medium

Despite being embroiled in an ongoing war, the Templars have fallen from the major to small-medium classification. It’s not the first time as the army has been experiencing many falls and rises since its creator Xing retired.

It has been since 2022 that the community last saw the Templars reign unrivaled. 2022 was the year of gold. Templars were at the center of the community, starting war with small-medium armies, or challenging old rivals like the Water Vikings. The Knights were not only the best performing army of the year, but their creator and leader Xing won Person of the Year. He is the first person to have won twice in a row.

However, all of this would come crashing down. The new year (2023) brought in one of the largest multilogging controversies ever seen. Even as investigations were ongoing, more suspicious accounts were found to be tied to the Templars legend. This put everything that the Templars worked so hard over the past years into question. Including their Legends Cup XII win which no multilogging could be traced to.

Legends Cup XII Grand Finals

On June 4, 2023, troubles continued as Templars lost their major army status. At the time, Empress Dawnables pointed to the change of the season as affecting the army. Many of their members were students dealing with exams. Later, on July 30, 2023, the Knights regained their major classification amidst Legends Cup XIII, and following a competitive World War IX.

Since then, the Templars have been flirting with small-medium sizes. Despite this, the Knights have never shied away from conflict. Currently, they are locked in conflict with the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT). As it stands, they have won five consecutive battles, not losing a single one.

However, it is uncommon for armies to drop to small-medium classification while engaged in war. Normally, armies use war as a way to bolster sizes. Therefore, Club Penguin Armies reached out to main leader Sidie9 to learn more about the army’s thoughts on the matter.

How did the Templars team react to the reclassification?

We weren’t at all surprised. Losing both Moon and Nicky_3070 as leaders was [a] significant blow to our army, especially with our Empress Dawnables busy in real life. Many armies classified as major have struggled to reach even 15+ without allies in war battles recently. The leadership is using this as fuel for motivation rather than taking this as a disappointment.

Currently, the army is in a war. Will the reclassification affect the war at all?

I think the only effect this reclassification may have on the war is more yapping from Fun X Time and Ganger90 about how Templars has “fallen off,” as if SWAT isn’t sinking to a point deeper than the Mariana Trench.

How do you plan to shift the tide of sizes and bounce back as a powerful major army?

As I said before, I’m not at all surprised by this. When I joined this army I knew what the leadership changes would look like, so I foresaw this as a very likely outcome. I’ve been working a lot recently so I haven’t had as much time to put into Templars as I hoped, but we are taking Legends Cup XIV very seriously and we intend to make this summer one to remember. Templars won’t remain in this classification for long, I can assure you of that much.

It is not uncommon for armies in the private server era to bounce back from small-medium classification. The community has seen it time and time again. Is it a matter of when, not if, the Templars will reign as a major powerhouse once more?
