Leaving A Legacy: Lass and the Elite Guardians of Club Penguin

Welcome to the eighteenth edition of Leaving A Legacy, the column dedicated to the celebration of legacies within the army community. In this edition, we will take a look at the storied legacy of Lassarote, otherwise known as Lass, throughout his journey with the Elite Guardians of Club Penguin.

Lass started his journey as a part of the Rebel Penguin Federation in 2017.  After progressing in RPF for approximately a year, he moved to the Elite Guardians of Club Penguin in June 2018. This was during the first golden age of EGCP. He grew in rank steadily until a sudden closure of the army in January 2020. However, he never forgot the army, despite not being part of other armies for three years.

BEGINNINGS

In May 2023, EGCP was reborn for its second generation, with Belga, Lass, Fitsuki, and Joshep at the helm. This leadership group reached 6th place in the first top ten after their revival, signifying how quickly they would grow. They quickly forayed into the map at the time by declaring two invasions against the BASEDment Demons. Both invasions were successful, displaying confidence in the leadership and the attendance of troops. They followed this with an invasion of Penguins of Madagascar after a no-show that EGCP deemed dishonorable. They managed to convert this flurry of events into a second-place finish in their second top ten of the generation. In this, they edged out the established Rebel Penguin Federation while falling only 6 points behind the Water Vikings.

They had one more practice battle against Water Vikings before edging towards their first major conflict. On May 29th, Lass declared two invasions against the Special Weapons and Tactics. This was shortly after the Army of Club Penguin declared the War of Unfinished Business against SWAT. There was some confusion due to ACP’s war terms preventing other parties from interfering. However, the Club Penguin Armies administration cleared this up, allowing the invasions to go through. SWAT promptly forfeited the invasions, citing the Bloodbath Barrage that they were a part of due to the Sapphire Concordat.

World War IX

Shortly after the invasions of SWAT, EGCP allied with the Water Vikings and the Rebel Penguin Federation. The three armies, known as the Blue Sunset Alliance, declared war against the ACP, citing the aggression of leader CalgoCubs. The Sapphire Concordat, made up of ACP, SWAT, Napalm Corps, People’s Imperial Confederation, and Templars of Club Penguin, supported ACP in the war. Additionally, while the Help Force did not declare war, due to allies being allowed, they helped ACP throughout the war. This war was extremely intense, but the BSA managed to pull a miracle out of nowhere.

With the power of WV, RPF, and EGCP, the alliance was able to win 32 battles during the war, while the Sapphire Concordat won 0. Unfortunately, while the war score was lopsided in favor of the BSA, the result was not. ACP, before the war, owned most land present on the map. With the combination of SWAT, NC, PIC, TCP, and ACP, the 14-day war would’ve lasted for much longer. Both sides stated that the war was not close to a clear victory. All armies signed a peace treaty, except for NC, which had a force treaty against them. With the end of this war, however, the war score reset to 0.

The Legends Cup XIII followed, where EGCP made it to the semifinals, where once again, they faced off against ACP. This time, the result was a loss. ACP, feeling unsatisfied and due to ‘toxicity’ from EGCP, declared yet another war against them in August. This war was fierce, with 34 battles, but ended in a forced treaty due to EGCP using a toxic tactic that was deemed against the terms of the war.

Further Conflict

Despite losing the war, EGCP remained #1 on the Top Ten, showing the tenacity of the full leadership team. Still not done with conflict, they declared against SWAT based on a member of SWAT High Command asking some troops to help raid EGCP’s event. This time, a map reset was occurring, so the war would have to be external. Meanwhile, SWAT proposed that the raid was peaceful, and so they rejected the conflict. There wasn’t much that happened between then and December, when Christmas Chaos XIV began.

EGCP made it to the finals, but shortly before the finals, an alliance called the United Front Alliance declared war. The alliance was a combination of ACP, Coup Crusaders, PIC, and Templars. By the end of January, a treaty was signed; however, the war was another victory for EGCP, with a good win-loss ratio. EGCP won 15 of 27 battles, despite the rule of allies being allowed. Unfortunately, EGCP lost the finals, but the effort the leaders put in since the beginning, despite the war, was phenomenal.

Legendary

Before any more chaos, however, there was finally good news. Lass and Fitsuki were both inducted as legends in the EGCP Hall da Fama (Hall of Fame) for their hard work since the revival of the army. Unfortunately, with Belga leaving earlier in February and some internal issues, there was a restructure and hiatus in April. This hiatus led to them being reclassified as a Small/Medium army as well. They came back with a fury, however, leading to another war with the Templars. This war, while EGCP won 8 and tied 1, with multiple allegations mixed in, was mapless due to the map restructuring.

Before anything further could occur, the Around the World Cup was announced. This tournament was new and provided battles in all three time zones for two separate groups. EGCP made it to the finals with ACP for Group A. In yet another hard-fought battle against ACP, EGCP had won, solidifying their dominance once again.

When the new map was finally released, EGCP was too slow, and Templars declared war on SWAT before EGCP could wage war on TCP. This left the war at a standstill. As a result, EGCP went to McHappy, an administrator at the time, who spun a wheel to decide that EGCP would war with Water Vikings. WV had previously also declared EGCP an enemy due to the accusations in the war against the UFA. EGCP and WV waged 6 battles in one week, winning five of them. EGCP and WV signed a treaty post-war, and later in the month, EGCP also signed an armistice with TCP, marking the end of the Templars’ war.

Endings

Lass’s journey was not over yet. The Legends Cup XIV came soon after the other wars ended. They made it all the way to the semi-finals, but they lost to Help Force. With the double-elimination format, however, they came to Round 2 of the Losers’ bracket. Unfortunately, the Templars defeated them, ending their valiant Legends Cup run. Through all of this, EGCP still had yet another war to fight. On July 28, they declared Operation: Caesar, which turned into a massive one-on-one against ACP.

The war, designated the Centenary Solstice War, lasted for an entire month in a whopping 104 battles before an ACP force treaty on EGCP. In this war, while EGCP fought valiantly, the Army of Club Penguin had proved their dominance. The EGCP won 39 of the battles, with the ACP winning 64 and tying 1. This war was Lass’s final major war, although there was a friendly conflict against their brother allies, the Winged Hussars.

Following the end of the war, Lass officially stepped down, as he wanted to focus on college more. At the same time, he wanted to come back the following month for the army’s anniversary. Unfortunately for the Elite Guardians, the army faced internal issues with the loss of Lass, the primary leader for a large part of this generation. With Fitsuki facing some internal allegations from the EGCP Consulate, he was dismissed. This caused a crisis that furthered into the army’s decline and eventual closure on October 22.

What’s Next?

SavageCobra, a S/M Army Legend and former leader of EGCP, announced the revival on January 4th, 2025. While Lass was technically back in EGCP, he was not a leader or involved in the army in any major way until his return to leadership on September 15th, 2025. Since then, EGCP has not been through any major conflicts or struggles, but with Lass and confident leadership once more, EGCP will stay strong for quite some time after this.

Club Penguin Armies attempted to reach out to Lass for an interview, with no reply yet.

With Lass’s significant journey, which includes multiple wars and tournament wins, not finished yet, we can conclude that there is still much more success to come for the Elite Guardians. The community will be eager to see his future accomplishments. How do you think the future of the Elite Guardians will turn out with Lass back? Will Lass achieve Legend status in armies?
