After a long time in service as Water Vikings commanders, Escot and Stevos both retired around the week of September 20. In this post, we look into their retirements and what that means for the Vikings.

Stevos retired from the Water Vikings during the week of September 20, stepping down as Viking Commander after roughly seven months leading the army. The Vikings marked his exit with a retirement event. His departure came in the same stretch as that of Escot, who also left the army’s leadership but asked for a quiet exit with no event or formal goodbye. Together they closed a chapter that saw the Vikings through wars, tournaments and a major rebuilding of their community.

STEVOS’ HISTORY

Stevos began his journey in the community in 2019, after discovering the Army of Club Penguin. First, ACP was the longest army Stevos ever served in, and he stayed there from 2019 until 2023. During those years, he built a reputation for resilience, as he stayed active both on and off the field through several generations of the army. As a result, he eventually reached the rank of Third-in-Command during one of ACP’s toughest periods. In addition, he played an important part in the army’s return to Major status. Later on, Zeus, a former ACP leader and S/M Legend, recognized that contribution by crediting Stevos in his retirement post. Stevos has said this was one of his favorite moments in the community, and that he never expected it.

In 2024, Stevos moved to the Rebel Penguin Federation. He spent nearly a year there and rose to Fourth in Command, which strengthened his standing among army leaders even further. In August 2025, he joined the Water Vikings, at a time when the army was led by Escot, Lydia and Mato. Only a few days after arriving, he was promoted to Staff in Training and entered the Viking Academy program. With his drive and determination, he quickly moved up from there.

On Saturday, February 14, 2026, after several months as a vital member of the army, Stevos was promoted to Viking Commander. The announcement was seen as a natural step for someone whose leadership, loyalty, and dedication had already become part of the army’s success. In his interview with Club Penguin Armies after the promotion, he admitted he felt a little overwhelmed at first but expected to grow into the role. He also said he hoped to see long-term growth and success for the Vikings, and he closed the interview with the army’s motto, “Fear the Wave.”

His seven months as commander were full. Outside the army, Stevos served as the CPJ Recruitment Division Minister and as the YouTube and CPJ Media Team Lead. Inside it, he led the Vikings through several tournaments, including March Madness XI and Legends Cup XVI, where the army took third place in both. He also guided the army through The Rising Dawn War against the Templars. His most recent honor was his induction into the Water Vikings Hall of Fame. He was named Viking Champion in August 2026 and, after his retirement, Viking Luminary.

ESCOT’S HISTORY

Escot joined the Water Vikings in October 2022 and quickly rose through the ranks, joining the staff team in April 2023. During the summer of that year, he played a key role in World War IX, contributing to the Vikings’ offensive campaign against the Sapphire Concordat. By the later stages of the war, the Concordat had suffered 31 battles and lost 18 servers, and the conflict ended in a peace treaty between both sides with no clear victory.

Later that year, he represented the Vikings at Christmas Chaos XIII, where the army was a dominant force from the start. In the Quarterfinals, they beat the Help Force in all three rooms, and in the Semifinals they continued their streak against the Army of Club Penguin. The Finals against the Elite Guardians of Club Penguin were much tighter. The first room ended in a draw, the Vikings won the second despite a size disadvantage, and the third room was drawn as well, which gave the Water Vikings their first Christmas Chaos trophy.

Escot’s rise continued through a very active 2024. In April, the Vikings went to war with the Templars of Club Penguin in the Sluttpådawn War. It ended within two weeks with a 15-0-5 score for the Templars, and WV leader Cabin formally announced its end. Despite that result, the Vikings bounced back almost immediately. After ACP declared war on WV in the same period, the Vikings dominated the Forlosning War with a score of 6-1-1, and ACP failed to show up for the final battle, which let the Vikings declare themselves winners. That summer, the Elite Guardians also went to war with the Vikings, but the conflict ended peacefully with an agreement.

In December 2024, Escot was promoted to Higher Command on the army’s 14th anniversary and named Greatest Viking.

THE LEADERSHIP ERA

In June 2025, Escot was inducted into leadership as Viking Commander in recognition of his long-standing dedication. In his first interview as a leader, he said he felt proud of the work he had put in over the previous months, and that his main goals were to get WV back on top, win many tournaments and keep alive the legacy left by past Viking legends. Additionally, he also named winning March Madness, winning Christmas Chaos, leading the Vikings against big armies such as RPF and Aliens, and the army’s anniversary event among his favorite moments.

The leadership years were busy ones. On August 25, 2025, the Vikings declared war on the Templars, intensifying their rivalry after a Legends Cup XV confrontation. After a decisive victory in the Invasion of Puddle, the Vikings moved quickly to improve their position. They left the Templars outmatched and holding a single territory, then imposed a forced treaty on them. Later, the People’s Imperial Confederation declared an off-map war on the Vikings, starting a new chapter in a fierce rivalry. That war ended with a sudden agreement announced by Escot himself. In the same period, the army co-hosted the Ragnarök Olympics with the Army of Club Penguin.

On January 11, 2026, the Vikings declared war on the Romans, calling it the Second War of Roman Subjugation. The Vikings accused the Romans of provocation, including troop stealing and defamation, while the Romans alleged harassment and manipulation. The Vikings raided that day with a clear size advantage and scheduled the first battle for January 13. The Romans no-showed every scheduled battle, and the Vikings declared themselves winners.

From February 2026, Stevos and Escot led together. On April 13, 2026, the Templars of Club Penguin declared war on the Water Vikings after months of rising tension. The Vikings took control from the start and kept their lead throughout. The Templars claimed WV relied too heavily on veterans, but the Vikings stayed focused on battle while Templar activity declined. Within two weeks, the war was over with a perfect 13-0-0 score in favor of the Water Vikings. Templar leader Sidie9 surrendered, the Templars left the CPA map, and the Vikings issued a peace treaty on April 22.

STEVOS’ RETIREMENT EVENT

The Water Vikings sent Stevos off with a retirement event on September 26. The Vikings marked his exit with a retirement event, featuring their iconic WD40 formation and a final thank-you to Stevos. After this event, he received the title of Viking Luminary.

ESCOT’S FAREWELL

The Water Vikings announced Escot’s retirement in a message to the army from one of the remaining leaders. Though the news may shock, Escot stepped back to prioritize his life because he no longer had time to lead. The army will keep operating normally, which the message said is just how he would have wanted it. The leader described him as motivated, always wanting the best for the army, and kind, compassionate and loving toward everyone.

One of Escot’s main goals was winning Christmas Chaos, especially after the Vikings came so close last year. He had high aspirations but not enough time to carry them out. The remaining leader promised their absolute best to achieve that goal for him, believing the army can do it.

Escot also asked for his retirement not to be very public, with no event and no formal goodbye. He knew he would return someday and wanted people to remember his achievements, not a going-away party. The message closed by promising that, until he returns, the Vikings will pursue his dreams and honor his legacy.

Escot retirement

Club Penguin Armies contacted Escot and Stevos for further notes, but they have not yet responded.

The retirements of Escot and Stevos mark the end of a memorable chapter for the Water Vikings, following years of dedication, leadership and success. Club Penguin Armies wishes both leaders the best in their future endeavours. What does the future hold for the Vikings without them, and will Escot return to leadership someday, as he hopes?
