The Challengers Cup will conclude on August 29th, following weeks of intense battles. Out of the eight participating armies, only two have advanced to the Grand Finals. In this post, we remember the journey of those leaders and conduct a brief interview.

OVERVIEW
In the past week, Shadow Legionaries eliminated The Abyssal Tides of Club Penguin in the Quarter-Finals. Meanwhile, Masked Bandits faced Magicians of Club Penguin in the Quarter-Finals. Both advanced to the Semi-Finals; they beat Fire Warriors and Fire Vikings, with SL facing FW and MB facing FV.

SHADOW LEGIONARIES
Thunder
Thunder founded Shadow Legionaries on May 3rd, 2025. Thunder is a seasoned player known all over CPA for his long-time presence in the game. He’s had high-ranking roles in armies like Lime Green Army, Dark Vikings, and Elite Guardians of Club Penguin.

Yuii
Yuii kicked off her army journey in May 2025 when she joined the Shadow Legionnaires. At first, she did not do much and was mostly just around occasionally. However, everything changed in November when she became more involved and received a promotion to Staff-in-Training at the end of the month. As time went on, Yuii got more comfortable and kept climbing up the ranks. As of now, she serves as the fifth leader of SL.

GreenVege
GreenVege has spent some time in the Shadow Legionnaires. He attended events for SL and received numerous promotions until the Higher Command offered him a position. On April 4th, he was inducted as Leader, becoming the third leader of SL.

Masked Bandits
Sweater
Sweater began his army career in 2013, later leading armies such as Special Weapons and Tactics, Shadow Recon, Fire Warriors, and the People’s Imperial Confederation, while currently serving as a Deputy Head Judge in Club Penguin Armies Judges. He is also the co-founder of Masked Bandits.
Justin
Justin is also a co-founder of Masked Bandits. Justin started off in 2012 with the Special Weapons and Tactics, just like Sweater. He served in several armies, including the Dark Warriors, Smart Penguins, Ice Warriors, Rebel Penguin Federation, and the Templars.
Club Penguin Armies reached out to the leaders from each army and asked them about the preparation for the final battle. Justin, MB leader, failed to provide a response.
How is your army strategically preparing for the Grand Finals, and what are your priorities once heading into battle?
Thunder SL Founder: secret but most likely showing them theyre wrong.
Yuii SL Leader: Well by doing warm ups, covering the room practicing fast tactic transition and get into form also gotta meximize our size early sonny. And once the battle starts not only mine but also others priorities are on the speed and clean formation as well to dominate every single room basically
GreenVege SL Leader: We made few good tactics , defeating MB at every room is our only priority.
Sweater MB Co-Founder: Recruiting, registering and recruiting and registering, maybe if SL spent less time in army propaganda and more time doing this, they’d be major after more than a year of activity. But what do I know, I’ve only led this army <4 weeks and we’re on par?
How do you keep your army focused, motivated, and executing tactics effectively when every move counts?
Thunder SL Founder: certify Masked Bandits wimping to the finals has nothing been a waste
Yuii SL Leader: Hyping up the chat is the most important part ofc also keeping the troops locked in by holding vc where leaders relay orders, keeping up a fast and steady rhythm of tactics to keep everyone focused on their screen (play phonk in the vc and win tourneys trust, everyone will be so locked in muhehehe)
GreenVege SL Leader: ig you meant during battles, thunder shouting at the troops at VC would keep them engaged pretty much (our troops love that)
Sweater MB Co-Founder: Majority of my guys are on mobile so we’ve planned around that. I have no doubts in my mind they’ll pull this off. Shadow Legionnaires are awful in battle, they have constant disconnects and terrible formations. We’ll play around that. I’ve also noticed they do one tactic every three minutes, we’ll be faster.
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned from past tournaments that you’re bringing into this battle?
Thunder SL Leader: study as much as you can on them and their usual stuff
Yuii SL Leader: Consistency matters more than huge spikes in sizeee
GreenVege SL Leader: the biggest lesson I’ve learnt from past tournament is idk bro the only tournament I lead since being a leader was CC III SL vs FW, maybe focus more on troop activity ig
Sweater MB Co-Founder: I have never lost a tournament that I’ve competed in.
Both armies feel that after the final, they will bring the CC trophy back home. From their answers, it seems like this will be a very intense battle between them. Who do you think will win? Will you spectate the battle?
