Over the Years

Both the Aliens and Templars have a hefty legacy in the Club Penguin Army community. The latter, formed on April 4 2018 by Major Army Legend Xing, has an extensive history and has, since then, undoubtedly been a consistently influential force in the community. This comes with them winning a plethora of wars and performing well in many different tournaments throughout their two generations. On the other hand, the Aliens was similarly founded in September of that same year by Sans, reaching great heights in their time on Club Penguin Online.

Though they eventually ceased army activities following the closure of CPO, they eventually re-emerged on June 24, 2024. They soon cemented themselves as a powerful member of the community through a series of war and tournament battle victories. Consequently, they eventually rose to major status quickly that year. The two armies have had limited direct interaction over the years, with most of their notable encounters coming in the quarter-finals of Christmas Chaos XIV and XV, both of which ended in victories for the Aliens. However, their shared history extends beyond tournament matchups, as they once found themselves on opposing sides during the 2019 War of Imperial Succession, one of the most significant conflicts of the Club Penguin Online era.

recent developments

In recent months, the Templars have consistently secured top-three placements in the weekly Top Ten rankings following their return to major army status in December. This further reinforced their position as one of the community’s strongest-performing armies. Their recent achievements include finishing as runners-up in the March Madness XI tournament, celebrating their 8-year anniversary. They additionally strengthened their diplomatic network through alliances with the Cryo Vanguards and the Romans. In contrast, the Aliens have typically placed in the 5th to 7th range, remaining just below the Templars in overall standings. Their recent record includes a notable practice battle victory against the Rebel Penguin Federation in December and a battle victory against the Templars, alongside setbacks such as a surrendered war against the Army of Club Penguin and the Water Vikings.

formation of the alliance

Following their recent practice battle, the Templars and the Aliens have officially announced a new alliance. This marks a notable development within the community’s evolving diplomatic landscape. The agreement brings together two armies that have both showcased great recent performances. Furthermore, with both armies having a mutual alliance with the Dark Warriors – another major army – this new move further solidifies what could grow into a powerful coalition.

Recent practice battle between the Aliens and the Templars

Club Penguin Armies reached out to both Bestpenguin from the Aliens and Sidie from the Templars for exclusive interviews regarding this alliance.

What led the [Templars/Aliens] to decide that an alliance was the right move at this point in time? Has this been in the works for a while, or is it a relatively recent decision?

Bestpenguin: We first started discussing about an alliance a few months back. We took our sweet time to know each other, and our interests align with each other. Our motivation behind this alliance is to support each other in times of need, as with the recent situation, we feel Templars and aliens have lots of similarities. Both of our communities are pretty isolated from other major armies, and it was only fair for both of us to support each other so that we both can do our best!

Sidie: Despite my attempts to build longstanding relationships with armies like ACP and PIC during my 2024 leadership, the Templars have traditionally been a lone-wolf army. Self-sufficiency is important, but I believe many TCP leaders took this philosophy to an arrogant extreme in which diplomacy was ignored almost entirely. Communication between the Templars and Aliens began towards the beginning of this year. Since then, the idea of an alliance between our armies had been discussed on numerous occasions. We formally invited Aliens to become allies at the end of February, but this was finalised about a week ago. Building this friendship with the Aliens has been an incredible experience so far, their leaders are wonderful people and our armies get along very well. I am very much looking forward to our shared future!

What advantages do you believe each army brings to the other? Is there anything you feel that both armies can achieve together that wouldn’t be possible individually?

Bestpenguin: Aliens have a very strong EU division, while Templars have a very strong US division. If we unite together, we can compensate for each other’s weak divisions and do well together. As individuals, we both can almost achieve everything, but when we unite together, we are unstoppable.

Sidie: Our armies certainly have a lot of shared values, goals and ambitions. Beyond simply assisting each other at events, I think the friendship has the genuine capacity to facilitate further growth and prosperity for our armies.

How would you describe the relationship between the Templars and Aliens prior to this alliance?

Bestpenguin: I don’t think many people know this, but aliens and Templars’ roots go back to 2019, when aliens were allied with NAA, an alliance run by Helpforce. When Templars declared war on NAA, the aliens and Templars rivalry began. I remember I used to launch all AUSIA invasions on Templars so that Xing wouldn’t be able to attend, as he had school during AUSIA hours, and he would launch his US invasions when I had my school hours during that time. This rivalry continued when aliens came back in 2024. Templars challenged aliens to prove themselves in the CCXIV tournament, and we had a very wonderful and close match. Overall, I would say aliens and Templars have always had a soft and competitive rivalry, which has always brought the best out of both of our armies.

Sidie: Before communication was established in early 2026, our relations were mostly neutral but cordial from my understanding. TCP and Aliens had warred one another years ago during Xing’s leadership, but that was so long ago that I don’t believe it really played a factor in our diplomacy.

Do you have anything planned with the [Templars/Aliens] for the near future?

Bestpenguin: For future, we plan to have more practice battles together and lots of fun joint events!

Sidie: We have already been doing some practice battles to hone our skills on the battlefield, we sought to have another before March Madness XI but the timing didn’t work out. I’m sure you’ll see more collaboration featuring both our armies, from competitive skirmishes to friendly events and more.

Though the Aliens currently do not hold any territory on the map, and both armies have limited major alliances aside from their mutual ties with the Dark Warriors, do you believe this new partnership, alongside that existing DW alliance, could become a game-changer capable of competing with the community’s larger alliance blocs?

Bestpenguin: We believe, yes, it could be a game changer, but only time will tell! Both aliens and Templars are very strong communities, and they are not meant to be underestimated.

Sidie: I’d love to see Aliens and Dark Warriors on the map but that call isn’t up to me. I think growing trilateral collaboration between our armies can be a fantastic avenue to challenge the status quo. Only time will tell.

How have members of the [Templars/Aliens] reacted to this announcement?

Bestpenguin: Alien members have interacted with the alliance announcement positively; they are all excited to see what the future will bring for both communities.

Sidie: The Templars genuinely love the Aliens, our staff voted overwhelmingly for this alliance and have welcomed it with open arms. They are just as enthused about it as I am!

Is there anything else you’d like to add?

Bestpenguin: ALIENS X TEMPLARS FOREVER 💖

Sidie: Viva Templaria, Viva Aliens!

The alliance between the Templars and the Aliens signals the end of a long-standing competitive rivalry, with both armies effectively putting their past conflicts to rest in favour of a renewed partnership. What was once a “soft rivalry,” as described by the Aliens’ leadership, is now being reframed into cooperation and shared ambition.

Both Bestpenguin and Sidie emphasise similar goals moving forward, building stronger communities, increasing activity through joint events, and establishing themselves as a more impactful force within the CPA landscape. Their responses align on the idea that this alliance is not just diplomatic, but also strategic, with both armies aiming to grow together and remain competitive against larger established blocs. Notably, Sidie also highlighted the potential for broader cooperation beyond just the two armies. By pointing to the possibility of a trilateral collaboration involving the Dark Warriors, Sidie suggests a wider network that could challenge the current balance of power in the community.

Overall, both sides share a unified vision of progression and strength, turning a once competitive history into the foundation for what they hope will become a new and influential alliance structure in the Club Penguin Army community. What do YOU think? Is this the start of a new dominant force in CPA? Will this alliance between former rivals reshape the balance of power in the community, or is it too early to tell?
