Historical Relations

The Romans revived in June 2025 and quickly became a mainstay in the Small/Medium army community, despite multiple leadership changes occurring. This includes Znation, Nardo, and Csani stepping down early in the summer, along with Dbsa’s short-lived reign. Since Dbsa’s departure, Slash has been the only Romans leader, while the Romans Senate and advisors have helped keep the army afloat. Meanwhile, Thunder222 has largely overseen the Shadow Legionnaires and created the army in May 2025 after previously having stints in the Water Vikings, Dark Vikings, and Elite Guardians of Club Penguin. SL has undergone much change since its creation, with various leadership changes, most recently the induction of Yuii.

Both armies have engaged in both tournaments and battles, with SL reaching the CPA20 Challengers Cup Finals and engaging in a war involving SL and the Masked Bandits. This alliance could be a turning point for both, introducing a new dynamic into the small-medium army community. The two weren’t heavily involved with each other before the alliance declaration, except during tournaments and occasional practice battles. However, the two armies always remained on friendly terms, making this alliance a reasonable decision for both sides.

Recent Times

The two armies have not held any practice battles with each other since February 21, 2026, aside from participation in the Army World Cup tournament in the Club Penguin Army League and March Madness. During these events, the Romans won the CPAL tournament battle between the two, while SL won the practice battle and the March Madness battle. Last week, SL reached ninth in the top ten with a max of 15, and Romans placed fourteenth with a max of approximately 10. The Shadow Legionnaires also gained many pieces of land due to the MB surrender, while Romans invaded and lost Tea to Zara Larmy within the past month. This alliance seems to serve as a turning point for both armies as both seek out new connections within the S/M community.

Club Penguin Armies reached out to GreenVege, SL leader, and Slash, Romans leader, to learn more about why they decided to ally.

What led to the alliance between the Romans and Shadow Legionnaires?

GreenVege: Romans asked if we could be allies and SL used to be always rival with Romans from army world Cup CPAL tourney till March Madness and we were friendly with them too and thunder always supported Romans behind the scenes, we brought the idea to staffs and Hcoms and they seemed okay with the alliance, and then we allied nice.

Slash: Well, we have had good relations with a few members of SL in the past. Another note, the two nations do border each other on the map. And thematically speaking, Romans is modeled after the Combined Roman Empire/Western Roman Empire while SL is modeled after the Byzantine/Eastern Roman Empire. So, it works out great.

What plans do you have to improve the alliance going forward?

GreenVege: we have a planned a Practice battle next week I hope it would be beneficial for both army to get trained and prepared.

Slash: We just plan on having fun together while jumping into events of the other’s hosting and battling it out from time to time to continue testing each other’s strengths.

How do you plan to work with your new ally to fulfill your own goals?

GreenVege: Currently our only goal is to get major and increase activity in SL, I want that to happen without allied max, but we would still attend each other’s event to encourage yay idk

Slash: As I said in question 2: As allies, we can hold practice battles and sometimes throw snowballs when we’re bored.

Do you have anything else to add?

GreenVege: Spooky Legionnaires 👀

Slash: AVE ROMA

The Romans and Shadow Legionnaires each seem to have had a strong foundation before this alliance, and the friendships that began the discussions will continue long into the future. How do you think this alliance could affect other small/medium army alliances? Will anything consequential on the map or in diplomacy occur as a result?
