Welcome to the August 2026 edition of the Army Index. It is similar to the Top Ten, but here armies gain points based on how “army-like” they behave each month, according to numerous metrics.

If you are unfamiliar with how the Army Index works, you can check the first version, where everything is explained in detail. The formula remains the same as in July, when there were some balance changes. Without further ado, let’s look at August’s Army Index, which has a new army as #1.

Stats 

• The armies with the most land at the end of July were once again the Shadow Legionaries and the Water Vikings, with 17. No change compared to July.
• The army with the most battles was the Masked Bandits with 4. This is one more battle compared to the highest number of battles in July.
• The Masked Bandits had the most points, with 19.35, breaking the Army Index record.
• The Rebel Penguin Federation had the fewest points, -7.95.
• Throughout the entire month, there were once again 9 tournament battles. This time they were divided with 2 of them being the Legends Cup XVI battles and the other 7 being the battles of the CPA20 Challengers Cup. Apart from those, there were also 4 practice battles.
• In August, there were 9 successful freeland invasions, with the MB having the most, a total of 4.
• All the non-tournament battles were between armies of the Same Classification, 3/4 of them being Major armies.
• The MB, Army of Club Penguin, Templars, and Aliens had the highest win rate, at 100%.
• On the other side, the SnowWalkers of Club Penguin, Star Force, Help Force, and Dark Warriors had the lowest, at 0%.
• 12 active armies held land on the map at the end of August, an increase of 3 compared to July.
• 13 out of the 21 armies participated in battles during August. In July, it was 10 out of 16.
• There were 2 no-shows, both in tournament battles.

The army activity during August increased compared to July, with the CPA20 Challengers Cup also playing a big part in that. Despite a potentially imminent September drop, we have already witnessed some map activity and battles on the map. Will the activity continue in the rest of the month?
