THE FACT THAT NEEDS CHANGE
Looking at the current state of the community, we can say that armies are more and less on each other than ever. How more and less, you ask? Take a look back at 2023: the Sapphire Concordat War and alliance originally consisting of the Special Weapons and Tactics and People’s Imperial Confederation. The two declared war soon after the formation of the alliance on the Dark Vikings on May 22, 2023. Soon, the Penguins of Madagascar, Napalm Corps, and the Dark Pirates joined the alliance as well.
DV’s first battle against SC
The main reason for this war is DV’s aggression towards PIC. However, on June 2, 2023, SC was officially recognized victorious after DV had violated war terms. In their posts, it becomes obvious that the Vikings engaged in inappropriate tactics and attempted to harass their opponents.
Immediately after their victory, SC and the Templars initiated World War IX when they both declared war against the Blue Sunset Alliance. This alliance was formed of the Water Vikings, Rebel Penguin Federation, and Elite Guardians.
Both SWAT and PIC, in their declarations, counterargue some allegations on Calgo, former ACP leader and army legend. Most importantly, it was clearly stated that the Sapphire Concordat exists to counter misconduct in the community.
WHAT DOES EXIST NOW?
Leaders who solely engage with other armies only for personal reasons; everyone wants to fulfill their image, not the army’s one. The reason the whole above text was written is to remind you what this community exists for. We never wanted back-to-back post writings and some invasions here and there. All that is written above happened amid words of a dying community spreading, just like they are now. Armies are scared they will be mocked or die if they do something they think they can not do. But what if it is too late? What if your army dies because of what you are doing, not what you can do?
Negelect yourself as an army leader, take into consideration the community and your people. If you decide to your army according to your personal needs, there is a point were your empire collapses. Toxicity is different than having fun and we have better leaders than ever before.
YOU IN QUESTION
Each person’s time in the army community is different. Some have made great friends, led armies and won tournaments. Some remember the drama, the wars and all that went with it. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been around a week or a decade; almost everybody’s got a story to tell.
Looking back, would people still choose that? Would they join armies if they could go back to the beginning, or would they do something different?
Club Penguin Armies asked some community members to share their thoughts. Here’s what they said.
Ninja Leader, DW 2ic: No, even if I had the opportunity, I wouldn’t stop myself from entering the army community. Because the army community is a great area to hang out, make new friends, and develop your leadership abilities. It’s a place that teaches you to work hard and assigns you various tasks and duties that you must fulfil in your army. Despite a few drawbacks, it’s a worthwhile spot to spend time with your hectic schedule and life.
Sanya, CPAB Head Mod: Honestly I have this sort of love-hate relationship with armies I’ve been here since 2017 on and off and looking back there’s so many things I’d change back in my time in ACP and RPF but I wouldn’t stop myself from joining armies despite the bad memories I have. The people I’ve met made it so much worth it, and even though the time I spent with them was short in the end for me, one thing I learned is it’s not the time that matters; it’s the person. I like the community because the people were kind to me, and I learned so much from people around the world as it opened my perspective on the world, but at the same time I didn’t like how people took armies so seriously, how certain armies were ran and many more and in the end I’d just stop my past self from making the mistakes I made.
Rye, WV Viking Luminary: Yes… although I have learned a lot from my time in armies, it doesn’t make up for the time lost and sacrifices I’ve made to my real life. In 2021 I would choose discord vcs over senior year parties, and for years I would attend events at work, sometimes lead them. I was on vacation during a war, and I attended almost every event on my phone. I took my laptop to the beach so I could lead beach brawl 2 in a porter potty (not my greatest feat) (we lost too) not to mention the countless nights where I would sleep at 4am, to then wake up at 6am for an ausia event. I can imagine my life being very different if I was never in armies.
Ams, Aliens Vet: I think i wouldve enjoyed this community way more if i joined it when i was younger. as said in my retirement post : i stepped down for mental health issues, the community did not helped those, but thats personal struggle so many people might not relate to that. I do believe this community is fun, but would be funnier if people were not being absolute weirdos and/or not understanding that the people with bad influence were influencing people to have a bad behaviour. i am all in for warfare & stuff, but i absolutely hate that so many people ARE called out for being weirdos and nobody does anything. if i joined it younger, i probably wouldve become a fully different person, and in a way im happy i didnt, because i see how many people got influenced by the bad people in this community. i’m glad i joined, for the amount of joy this community brought me and the amount of friendships and more this has given to me, but in a way, im so glad i didnt joined it sooner. not sure if i would join it again, if i knew the amount of bad stuff that happened to me in here, but i guess the good stuff are making this even, and i’d regret not meeting the people i met and created connections with.
Cubster, ACP Advisor: Honestly, I probably wouldn’t stop myself even If I had the chance. When I started playing Club Penguin, i enjoyed every interactions I had with the players. Making friends and connecting outside of Club Penguin, at the time my penguin friends and I used to Skype each other while playing. So joining armies made sense to me as I enjoy meeting different people playing the game we all love, in a different context. Club Penguin itself got boring when i started experiencing army culture. Logging on for battles was the only thing keeping me playing the game, and the people I met in armies made me want to do that. Fitting in is not a problem at all. It helps you grow as a person, meeting all the different people and characters you have to deal with. So yeah, I wouldn’t stop myself joining armies If i had the chance.
Sebzy, IW Leader: No, I dont think i’d stop myself from joining armies. I joined IW in 2021 after being randomly recruited, left not long after, and then Icequeen noticed and invited me back. Somehow that turned into me staying for ~5 years and leading for over two. I only really discovered the wider CPA community after being invited to the BIA (BIA FOREVER!!!) server for a battle, which is when I realized there were different armies, alliances, rivalries and a concerning amount of penguin politics There were also a lot of random things I never expected to learn from armies. I got experience writing announcements and articles, planning competitions and larger projects, coming up with event ideas, managing staff teams and trying to keep people motivated when activity was low; in short being in IW (especially in leadership) helped me mature a lot. At the same time, armies definitely werent always positive. The drama surrounding IW’s shutdown in 2023 was probably the clearest example I’ve experienced first hand of how messy and stressful the community could become. After spending years caring about the army and putting so much effort into it, seeing everyone leaving and the army becoming unstable was difficult There were definitely moments where I questioned why I was letting arguments over discord servers and cartoon penguins affect me so much in real life. So no, I wouldn’t stop my younger self from joining armies. Despite all the drama and stress, being part of IW gave me friendships, memories and experiences that genuinely helped shape me and made me grow up a lot 😀 Would I recommend joining armies in 2026 though? Absolutely not. 0/10. Save yourself while you still can.
Clade, DW SiT: No I wouldn’t stop myself from joining Club Penguin Armies if I had the chance to do it all over again. Although my first army was a toxic environment, it eventually led me to an army that truly suited me. Yes, there’s a lot of toxicity within the community, but there are also some amazing people who have become close friends of mine. The people I’ve met throughout my CPA journey have helped me grow as a person, and honestly, Club Penguin Armies are one of the ways I keep my inner child alive and for that, I’m truly grateful that I joined.
Everyone’s experience of CPA is different, and that is what made these responses so interesting. Some of the members said they would do it all over again, and some admitted they would change a few things. At the end of the day, each and every experience has helped shape the community we know today. And you? Would you still join armies if you could go back?
