Club Penguin Armies Presents: Legends Cup XVI

We are almost a month into the Twentieth Summer of armies. While historical activities slowly begin, it is now time to announce this year’s iteration of the most iconic tournament of the army community. Behold, Legends Cup XVI.

Designed by MasterDS and Zambi

This year marks the sixteenth edition of the Legends Cup tournament. If you have not figured it out yet, from the introduction, Legends Cup XVI will have a historical theme, highlighting the 20 years of Club Penguin armies. Similar to last year, the tournament will once again follow a single elimination format. Unlike last year, though, the wheel of names will not make a return.

Last year, Legends Cup XV was hosted once again by Club Penguin Armies. It was a very unpredictable tournament, with the Quarter Finals and Semi Finals matchups being decided by the wheel. The Rebel Penguin Federation managed to win the trophy after defeating the Aliens in the finals. The finals were a very large battle, with both armies bringing many troops to the battlefield and reaching the user room cap in all three rooms. With the sizes depending on who enters the room faster, RPF managed to win two of the rooms, with Aliens winning the other one.

Legends Cup XVI

This year, we expect to see huge battles like this once again. We have already seen armies maxing more than 100 in events this year, so we are looking forward to seeing how they perform in the Legends Cup. The LC is the third tournament of the Aura Era, following the Around the World Cup III and the Multilogging Mayhem tournaments. At the same time, it is a significant edition, since it takes place during the Twentieth Summer along with other multi-organisational celebrations.

Along with the usual format, the tournament will also include 3rd – 8th placement battles. How will that work? Armies eliminated in the Quarter Finals will battle each other in 2 battles to determine the 5th to 8th spots. These two battles will take place on the same weekends as the Semi-Finals and the Grand Finals. Armies that get eliminated in the semi-finals will face each other in the third-place battle. All these armies will receive a plaque at the end of the tournament, with their placement number being written on it. This change will bring more intense battles throughout the entire tournament and will allow armies to continue fighting even if they fail to qualify further.

Additionally, we have decided to implement more dynamic Qualification Rounds. The largest armies will directly pass into the Quarter Finals. These will allow the Small/Medium armies to face other SMs in order to qualify, instead of facing a large Major. With this addition, we hope to see more interesting Qualification Round battles that are less predictable and more intense. In addition, SM armies will have a greater chance to enter the Quarter Finals than before.

The tournament is expected to last 4 weeks, starting on July 11. The tentative date of the Grand Finals is set to be August 2. If there is a need for a second Qualification Round, the tournament will last for an extra week. Army leaders of the armies mentioned below should message an Administrator to confirm their participation in the tournament. The sign-ups will conclude on Thursday, July 2, at 2 PM EST. The following armies are invited to participate:

  1. Aliens
  2. Army of Club Penguin
  3. Dark Warriors
  4. Fire Vikings
  5. Fire Warriors
  6. Help Force
  7. Magma Clan
  8. Pizzaioli of Club Penguin
  9. Rebel Penguin Federation
  10. Romans
  11. Shadow Legionaries
  12. SnowWalkers of Club Penguin
  13. Star Force
  14. Templars
  15. Water Vikings

Further information and rules regarding the tournament will be announced alongside the seedings next weekend, on Saturday, July 4.

Once again, we would like to thank our partners, the Club Penguin Army Judges, for their continuous support. Without them, we would not be able to run the tournament smoothly. We would also like to thank the Club Penguin Army Battleground and its staff, who have helped provide a safe, stable space to host tournaments and battles. Last but not least, we thank Master DS and Zambi, who massively cooperated for the Legends Cup theme, logo, and branding. We would like to wish all participating armies good luck. May the best one win the Legends Cup of the Twentieth Summer.
