The trick-or-treat season is approaching, and with it comes a new tournament. In October, with Halloween approaching, we are terrified to present our brand-new spooky-themed tournament, October Horrors.

Following the Summer Blitz tournament, leaving the Summer behind, it is now time for the next tournament of the year. Last year, Club Penguin Armies hosted Project Conquest: Blood Bowl. It was a successful tournament on the map, with several armies being involved and a lot of battles happening over its course. Eventually, the Army of Club Penguin managed to emerge victorious from it and win first place in the major section. Winged Hussars won the Small/Medium one.
Historically, the Autumn season has been one that allows the organizations to create more unique-style tournaments that do not follow the usual single-elimination format of the three main ones. This year, CPA will continue the tradition and host a tourney that has several twists, aiming to make it more competitive.
October Horrors
The tournament will be split into Major and SM categories. Major armies will participate in the Major category, while SM armies can choose to compete in either. The tournament will be a single-day tournament for each category. Major division battles will take place on Saturday, October 25, with the SM ones happening the next day, October 26. The winners of the two divisions will face each other in the Super Cup battle, an extra battle, on Monday, October 27, at 3 pm EST. The winners of the Major and the SM finals will receive the main trophies, while the Super Cup battle will have an extra one.
How Will the Battles Take Place?
Both Major and SM divisions will have the same format. The Quarter Finals Battles will take place in AUSIA and early EU timezones, 8-11 AM EST, depending on the number of participants per division. The Semi Finals will happen on the EU time zones, 1-3 PM EST, with the Grand Finals happening at 7 PM EST.
For example, a major army that wins every battle will have to battle 3 times on October 25. The first battle, Quarter Finals, at 10 AM EST, the second one, Semi Finals, at 3 PM EST, and the Finals at 7 PM EST. Likewise, an SM army that wins every battle will have to battle on the same, or similar, times but on October 26. Additionally, the armies will have to battle each other in the Super Cup battle at 3 PM EST on October 27.
If there are 9+ armies in a division, then there will be a Qualifier round on October 24, at 6-7 PM EST.
Special Rules
The main tournament rules that remain constant in all tournaments will be announced in the following post. The tournament will contain some extraordinary rules that make it more interesting. For all the non-final battles, there will be NO overtime rooms. This does not include the 2 Grand Finals and the Super Cup, where there can be 2 overtime rooms, as they are trophy battles. In addition, a battle can end up as a tie. In that case, both armies advance to the next round, and the following battle becomes a 3-way one. This rule does not apply to the Grand Finals and the Super Cup, where there must be declared a winner.
The 3 Twists
To sum up, the tournament has 3 twists.
- All battles per division happen on the same day, which means an army will most likely have to win battles in all 3 time zones to win the trophy.
- A Super Cup battle will take place between the Major and SM winners.
- There will be no Overtime rooms for the Qualifiers, Quarter Finals, and Semi Finals. Battles in these rounds can end up as ties, making the next round battle a 3-way one.
The following armies are welcome to participate, with the sign-ups concluding on Thursday, October 16, at 12 PM EST/5 PM UK. If you are an army leader, confirm your participation in the direct messages with an administrator.
