Legends Inductions 2024: Results

As the army community rings in the new year, the Legends Committee is proud to present the results of the 2024 Legends Inductions cycle.

Just so everyone is on the same page, let’s go over the induction process so far. We first began with the community to see who they wanted to nominate for legend. After a few days of voting, the top three receivers in votes- which were Scars, Link3000, and Gabegirl– were named the Community Nominee winners. They were at the top of their respective nominee lists, and the rest of the nominees were decided upon by the Legends Committee, which utilized information from various figures around the community as well as deliberations amongst themselves. Then, the conversation in the committee shifted to who should be inducted as legend. There were a total of three discussions held. Lastly, committee members were given five days to vote, with the deadline being last night. Army Legends voted on all nominees, while Small/Medium Army Legends voted on the S/M nominees. As always, the S/M Army Legends who were present for the discussions were welcomed and encouraged to contribute to the conversation on the Army Legend candidates.

Following last year’s change of allowing any legend on the board regardless of their activity levels, we once again saw a large committee compared to previous iterations. However, it must be noted that two committee members voluntarily dropped out due to not being able to participate as much as they wished. The committee heads commend them for their honesty and integrity.  Thus, their ballots are not represented in both the vote count and the threshold to be inducted.

To be inducted, a nominee must receive a simple majority of the votes from the committee. There were 19 voters for Army Legend and 26 voters for S/M Army Legend. This means that the amount of votes required for an Army Legend to be inducted this year is 10 votes. For an S/M Army Legend to be inducted, it takes 14 votes. The participants were as follows:

  • Iceyfeet12342008 Army Legend

★ Inducted as S/M Army Legend ★

Congratulations to both Link3000 and Shinzo on being inducted as Army Legends! The year of 2024 saw increased activity on both the major side and the S/M side and these two individuals were the cream of the crop. The Legends Committee thanks everyone who took the time to vote for their Community Nominees and offer encouragement to those who were not inducted.  Keep going!

Personal closing words from DMT:

To say that this was an interesting inductions cycle would be an understatement. We once again had a healthy mix of active and inactive legends- CPPS Legends and OG Legends- which made conversations very illuminating for all that were involved. While you can see that this year had a wider range of votes, it doesn’t appear that the two legends that were inducted could be described as consensus decisions. Last year, the committee was enamored with Calgocubs21 regardless of each voters background and personal beliefs.  But this year, conversations saw an uptick in debates over whether the state of the community as it is now measures up to the standards that previous legends that were inducted had.  Individuals had their entire history’s in the community brought up, regardless if it was related to their accomplishments in 2024. It also felt that perhaps there were some individual agendas at play, with an increase in voters who are actively tied to armies in the community. But another benefit of a large board is that it is very hard for people to unjustly sway voters. With these observations, I can confidently say that deliberations accurately represented the conclusion we have here before us.

Two years in, I consider it apt to say that allowing any and all legends to participate has certainly had its ups, but it’s had its downs too. Something that was apparent after our previous Legends Town Hall- and the previous induction cycle- was that because of the influx of legends participating, we need to establish guidelines for how people are to behave as members of the committee. A code of conduct, of sorts. This is our top priority after this induction cycle, which should help make it a more helpful, enjoyable experience for all the individuals on the committee and a more trustworthy process for the community to get behind.  We also are looking forward to the return of our Summer Legend Inductions, which will now focus entirely on retrospective nominees. This gives the committee the chance to look back on previous nominees who- either added to their careers or had the benefit of time changing our perspective on their careers.

I’d like to thank the Club Penguin Army Wiki for observing and sanctifying the results of our inductions once again. Wiki Bureaucrat and known army statistician Dino was a tremendous help during discussions, providing key information and demonstrating good debate courtesy to boot.  We also want to thank the Club Penguin Armies organization for continuing to platform the Legends Committee. Mare and Coolguy have more than filled the void left by Mchappy’s retirement and continue to run the organization like clockwork. We are so thrilled to be partnered with the two official locations to see Club Penguin Army Legends and look forward to many more years of collaboration.

Lastly, we extend our thanks to you- the community. We feel that the results this year and the process that led up to them are satisfactory. The Community Nominee voting saw more engagement and we even saw one recipient get inducted. But we remain steadfast in continuing to make legends a title that the community respects and honors. We can’t wait to hear your feedback on how we did and can’t wait to present you with a recap of our impending Legends Town Hall in March and our new summer inductions. Until then, be well!
