Rising Conflict

On October 26 the Fire Vikings declared war on the Shadow Legionnaries. The Fire Vikings aimed to reclaim land that the Shadow Legionnaires previously took from them. This is not the first time they’ve fought, with the Shadow Legionaries declaring war on the Fire Vikings back in April. This rivalry culminated with the finals of October Horrors II, where the Fire Vikings defeated the Shadow Legionnaires to become the Small/Medium champions.

Invasions

October 27

October 27 marked the first day of the war. The Fire Vikings successfully invaded Deu Branco, winning all 3 rooms and giving themselves the first victory in the war. During the battle, the Fire Vikings held a size advantage that steadily grew as the battle went on, which combined with better formations and speed allowed them to win.

October 28

On the second day of the war, the Shadow Legionnaries tied up the score by successfully invading Vanilla. Just 2 hours later, the Shadow Legionnaries won again in overtime during their invasion of Sparkle. However, the Fire Vikings claimed their second victory after successfully invading Crystal, tying up the war score 2-2.

The next day, the Fire Vikings took the lead again with a successful invasion of Mittens after the Shadow Legionnaries did not log on. However, the Shadow Legionnaries quickly evened the score with their successful invasion of Flippers, where they outnumbered the Fire Vikings 2 to 1. Day 3 of the war ended in yet another tie in war score 3-3.

October 30

October 30 followed the same pattern. Shadow Legionnaries took the lead with their invasion of Rainy, only for the Fire Vikings to even the score once again with their invasion of Beanie. Both invasions were pretty one sided, showing a recurring trend of the armies being better at invasions than defenses.

The same events repeated on Halloween with the Shadow Legionnaries taking back Crystal in a 3-0 sweep, followed by the Fire Vikings taking Glacier in a close battle. The war score was now 5-5, yet another tie.

November 1

A new month began and the trends stayed the same. The Shadow Legionnaries successfully invaded Migrator after a close battle. They also attempted to invade Beanie to reclaim it, but the Fire Vikings managed to defend. This was the first, but not last, successful defense of the war. Later that day, the Fire Vikings attempted to invade Fog, but the invasion was invalidated due to FV losing Crystal and thus not having a land connection to Fog. The long streak of ties continued, with the war score now 6-6.

The most recent day of the war saw the tides change. The Shadow Legionnaries successfully invaded Northern Lights after winning all 3 rooms. Later that day, the Shadow Legionnaries won again, successfully defending Cabin after a close battle that went into overtime. This marked the second successful defense of the war, bringing the war score to 6-8 in favour of the Shadow Legionnaries.

After one week of intense battles, the Shadow Legionnaries are just slightly ahead in war score. However, with the two armies trading wins, it’s difficult to tell whether this lead will last. What do you think? Will the Fire Vikings and Shadow Legionnaries stalemate forever? Do you think there will be a winner, or will it end with no winner?
