The United Republic has suddenly announced its closure, coming weeks after its opening to the public. Today we will investigate the reasons why this army has decided to shut its doors.

ARMY HISTORY
The United Republic was established on May 23, 2017, being founded by Roseferri, also known as Manifest Red, with co-leader Nullify. Following the establishment, the army would officially open its doors on July 4, 2017. During its existence in 2017, the United Republic was known for being the most vocal of its time in being anti-Rebel Penguin Federation, with its leaders often endorsing other anti-Rebel initiatives.
The army would merge into the Romans as a result of army leader Roseferri choosing to depart from the community at some point between mid-September and early October 2017. Following into December of the same year, Moonlocks would join the army, and the merger into Romans would depart, with the URP becoming minimally involved in wars such as the War of Roman Subjugation.
The URP would strengthen itself following their new leadership with Moonlocks, as well as a new alliance between the United Republic, Dark Knights Empire, and Underground Mafias Army, and would later expand into the Tubas, Elite Guardians, Club Penguin Crew, and the Rebel Penguin Marines. Until mid-2018, the army was a big support for others; following Moonlock’s departure, it later resulted in the full closure in May 2019 from Roseferri’s end, with a merger into the Lime Green Army following the dissolution.
THE REOPENING
The army would return nearly seven years later, with them officially rejoining the community on August 18, 2026. The opening event itself had three logged on, and following the event, the army registered with Club Penguin Armies, even clarifying that it was not a troll army. The army also used a tactic during their opening event, announcing an invasion of the RPF server, Tuxedo, 52 minutes after the event would occur, going back on their previous history of being anti-RPF. Army leader Roseferri would later state that an official declaration of war and an invasion would be announced at a later point.

CLOSURE
Almost a month following the reopening, Roseferri would make a sudden announcement to the URP community, announcing its immediate closure of the army, following days after its invasion of Tuxedo. As stated in their announcement, it was more so due to Roseferri’s own personal circumstances when it came to their real-life situation, and not anything more to do with anything internally going on behind the army’s doors.

Club Penguin Armies was able to sit down with Roseferri and learn more about its closure.
Your announcement states that the army closed due to your real-life circumstances. Even if this was actively taking place, have given the opportunity with more helpers, would the URP remain open?
I’m not necessarily confident that would’ve been the case. A large part of my motivation to revive the URP was a personal project; it really wouldn’t have felt right leaving that entirely in the oversight of other people. I think I would’ve just made the call anyways; the main change would have been in the amount of people I would be discussing with regarding its closure and seeing if I could help people get back into armies they would want to be in post-URP.
Had the army stayed open, what would the plans with the RPF have been, considering your previous history with them?
Unironically, the plan would have been to take some significant time to grow as a regular S/M, gather a sizable troop base with relatively autonomous staff in terms of creating events, and then re-focus our attention to a legitimate war. I think the expectation was that the URP was intended to be a troll army, especially because of the “burp” thing (fun fact — that exact insult/shade was used 9 years ago when I was leading in 2017, lol) others have ascribed to it. However, we would have plainly operated as a regular S/M with the particular bend that we would have maintained the philosophy that the mega-alliance that protects the RPF from any sort of major war should be dismantled. I still believe it to be the case personally, as do many community members; I just speak of that now instead not as an army leader but as a regular part of the community.
Any last comments for the community?
I’ll be around, largely in an effort to maintain a civic career. Whether or not it’s as a reporter or op-ed writer, wiki team member, or judge (please accept my JiT application CPAJ), I’ll still be around. It just won’t be in the capacity of an affiliate with an army.
(That being said please stop contacting me about being staff in your army I’ve had no less than 3 people ask at this point lol.)
Although with the sudden closure, Roseferri still plans to stick around the community and get more involved. The future for the United Republic is unknown, but the plan to bring back the URP, even for a short term, was successful, and we wish Roseferri and the rest of their community the best of luck in the future.
