On June 17, CPA Battleground announced a fresh update to the server list screen. In this article, we explore this change in detail, acquire more insights, and interpret the community’s mixed reactions.

On June 17, 2026, CPA Battleground founder and developer Superhero123 announced a new, modern server selection screen for his game. This screen is a live reproduction of Club Penguin Armies‘ army map, featuring clickable territories that take the player to their desired in-game server. This screen does not replace the traditional server list, which is still accessible through the same screen. This development comes shortly after CPAB announced Pride Party 2026 on the game, which brings Pride room decorations designed by Master DS.

When a player logs in to the game, a map overlay is displayed over the server list. When the player hovers the mouse cursor across a territory, certain details of the server show up. Moreover, the map retains its territorial colors and other data on load from the map page. Noticeably, the servers also display a population meter on hover, which reflects the proportion of penguins currently online. Initially, the meter had a known bug that caused it to display inaccurate readings. However, the developers quietly fixed the issue earlier today.

Furthermore, Superhero123 credited co-developers df44 and Lort533 in his announcement of the new update. In addition to this update, Superhero123 fixed an issue that prevented spectators from running the in-game !size command.
When asked about the latest CPAB update, CPA administrator Edu14463 said…
I am particularly very pleased with this update made by our partners. After CPA launched the best map ever seen in the army community, alongside the mobility units and economy features, we were confident this would be a fantastic gift to armies, providing the perfect space for them to promote warfare. After Df presented his magnificent idea to the administration, we gave full support. CPA believes this will make the map an even more important and meaningful asset, bringing to life concepts such as patrolling and server ownership. Our partnership with CPAB has been stronger than ever! Thank you Df, Lort and Super for trusting CPA Org and investing in our big, beautiful map
The Backstory
In the past few months, the developers did not keep this update completely under wraps. They occasionally hinted at a potential update related to the army map. Based on these hints from the CPAB developers, some onlookers expected such a change.

On February 1, 2026, the first information of such an update was received by the army community. That day, df44 posted a sneak peek on the CPAB Discord server, featuring the army map in action. For a long time, no major follow-ups were posted until June. On June 16, when announcing the Pride Party 2026 update on CPAB, Superhero123 suggested that “There will be one quite important update coming in the next few days.” He also added that “The next 3-4 months in general are going to be quite big for this game’s history.” Finally, on the next day, the update came for the community. Subsequently, the news was shared in df44’s words on the CPA Discord server.

Presently, armies widely use the 2022 Club Penguin private server for tournaments, wars, and army events in general. It is worth mentioning that CPAB has been a partner of the CPA organization since its early days.
So far, this update has seen mixed reactions from different parts of the community. Firstly, we reached out to CPAB developers Superhero123, df44, and Lort533 to learn more about this update and its impact.
Has the army community received this update well?
Superhero123:
The feedback for the most part has been very positive, and objectively it is a big aesthetic upgrade compared to the previous sever select screen.
There was a claim that introduction of the map is violating CPAB’s independence but, as I also stated in CPAB’s suggestion channel, we are very open to integrating more maps into the game provided a decent amount of armies actively use them (to my knowledge no such other map exists currently) and that it does not require introduction of new servers (we cannot support this atm). Exact way we would do this of course depends on how that other map is structured, but it would be in a way that avoids making things too complicated for users.
There was also a valid concern regarding the new map being a bit buggy/not practical in mobile screens, we are currently investigating ways to make CPAB experience better on mobile. For the time being old server menu still exists of course by clicking the post-it note on the sever select screen so it should not be a huge problem.
df44: This kind of major revamp in a game tends to receive different opinions. While some may argue it can overcomplicate server selection, it is undoubtedly one of the biggest visual improvements the game has received in its UI. It gives more depth to the game and completes the ultimate goal we had when we first added the legacy servers to the game, which was to complement the server map with the game.
Lort533: It was a rather rough start, and had some concerns but I think feedback is rather positive.
Do you believe that this feature has arrived late? Should they have introduced it earlier?
Superhero123: Yes, super late. I had this idea in mind since 2020 for CPATG but it was never a priority so it took a long while.
df44: This feature has been ready to put up in the game for a few months now. The first time Super and I discussed something like this to be implemented in the game was in 2024 when I was part of the development of the previous CPA map. With the whole new revamp and the beautiful map we launched this year, we returned to those discussions and managed to transport what was an already beautiful map into a CP-compatible one.
Lort533: I think it should’ve been introduced earlier (as it was ready few months ago), but do note we all have private life and this stuff takes time.
How would you describe the efforts your team has put in? Could you describe how you managed to achieve this from the inside?
Superhero123: It was a collab between Df44 who has developed the actual map and Lort533 who did the integration into the CPPS. They did excellent work and I feel very lucky to have them in CPAB’s team!
df44: The same way it happened when we released the new CPA map, the process of implementing this was very structured. We already knew what we wanted the map to look like in CPA, and we had a general idea of what it could look like in-game. So that’s when I started coding an interactive mockup to share with Super, with Dino (as the map designer), and with Lort, who would be responsible for bringing the mockup into an actual part of the game. We coordinated it and I am really proud to see how it turned out. You can see it’s the same map, but of course, in-game, it is more CPAB themed, which is a very fun way to visualize what was already a great map.
Lort533: Well, speaking CPAB – df44 has made the initial mockup, which I then made fit on top of the game in a rather seamless way. It was a pretty simple job, just exposing a few function from within the game that allow the external interface to choose the server.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Superhero123: Since this is a newly introduced feature, please report any bugs and feedback you may have on the appropriate CPAB channels! It is great help for us and helps make the game better.
df44: Your servers are now literally yours in the game: keep an eye out for intruders, make moves on the map, and enhance your geographic politics. The game is on again!
Lort533: Bump my post on X thanks https://x.com/Lort533/status/2067574879751123038/
Further, we also reached out to certain members of the army community to explore their opinions on the latest CPAB update.
What are your thoughts on the latest CPAB update?
FatChicken, CPAB Moderator:
Regarding the Pride Party, I really like the work done by Master DS. The rooms look exquisite.
Regarding the new server selection. I absolutely LOVE it. It creates a whole new layer of immersion that really helps bring the idea of armies “owning” and “attacking” and “defending” servers to life. It’s VERY cool for sure. I also appreciate the old server menu still being accessible( however, it would be cool to see a search bar @LORT).
Midnight, Dark Warriors:
Removal of the new update or reverse the options. Reverse meaning making the server list appear when a user logs in and giving an option to view the map.
It looks to me this map was only added because it looked nice and it seems as if there was a lack in thinking of potential scenarios or the potential outcome of this update.
It will now be more difficult for armies to help new troops get started on CPAB. Previously we could just say “click the server at the top called battleground” and now we have to ask them to find a teeny tiny island on a giant map.
You could probably say to tell new troops to click the option that shows the server list but it is not that simple. This may be the first time someone is playing club penguin. Not everyone speaks English as a first language and may have trouble understanding. It is already a pain trying to get new troops to do the uniform command and now there is an extra step.
The server list is simpler and easier to locate a server as the list is in alphabetical order.
I think the opinions of armies should have been taken into consideration for such a massive update as we are the users. I feel this update will be disastrous.
Pandora:
It is good that CPAB is receiving large updates again. This plan to integrate the map into CPAB appears to have been in the works for some time as Df teased it back in February. There are some bugs with the integration currently, but I am sure they will be ironed out by the team. I like the idea, it makes sense, and it simulates that you’re deploying onto a server from the login screen (pretty cool!).
However, this integration of the CPA Org map raises questions about Battlegrounds neutrality and independence. By implementing the CPA Org map directly into CPAB, the CPPS is presenting CPA Orgs map to every army player that logins to the CPPS, which will be every CPA player in the community. This is a silver bullet to any league that wishes to rival CPA Org going forward.
Salah, Dark Warriors:
I think the update is a cool idea on paper. Having the servers displayed as a map definitely has potential and adds a unique visual element to server selection. That being said, I think the simplicity of the old server list had its own charm and was much easier for new players to navigate. Generally speaking, I believe in the saying, “don’t fix what’s not broken.”
As for the map itself, one improvement I would suggest is making the Battleground server stand out more. At the moment, it does not feel particularly prominent when displayed alongside the other servers, despite being the primary server for many players. Increasing its visibility would make it easier to locate at a glance.
I would also consider making the map a secondary viewing option rather than the default server selection screen, while keeping the traditional server list as the primary option. The server list is simple, intuitive, and efficient, especially for newer players or those playing on mobile devices. The map is a nice feature to have, but I think it works best as an additional way to browse servers rather than replacing the straightforward list that players are already familiar with.
Sanya, CPAB Head Moderator: I feel pretty happy as the map update makes us distinct from past CP army games and brings us closer to the map culture we’ve been accustomed to in armies, and I’m happy to see it be implemented in-game, and the pride party as well looks really pretty and I’m sure armies would be happy to do their pride parade and battles in those redesigned rooms and I’m thankful for the developer, designer team, and superhero for making it all possible
In summary, it appears that the community has varied opinions and suggestions to offer. It is not every day to see such large paragraphs being interview responses! With a new quality of life and aesthetic update introduced to the community’s most sought-after CPPS, the change immediately invoked various expressions in everyone’s minds. What are your thoughts on the latest CPAB update? Are there any other changes you would like to see on CPAB?
