Unc Status: RPF Celebrates 19 Years

The Rebel Penguin Federation celebrates its 19th anniversary, which represents almost 20 years of Club Penguin Armies history, commitment, and camaraderie. As one of the most enduring and archaic forces in CPA history, it has earned the unique honor of leaving a lasting legacy in the community.

THE START OF A DOMINANT ODYSSEY

On May 8, 2007, Commando717 founded the Rebel Penguin Federation  amid rising tensions within the Underground Mafias Army (UMA), allegedly launching the organization as a rebellion allegedly against UMA under Pink Mafias’ leadership. As growing numbers of UMA troops rallied behind Commando’s cause, RPF rapidly expanded and soon entered World War III alongside the Army of Club Penguin (ACP) to fight against UMA. After a series of battles and coordinated offensives, the ACP-led coalition secured victory and established a peace treaty, marking the beginning of RPF’s long-standing presence and influence in Club Penguin Army history.

OGCP Era

In the years that followed, RPF enjoyed steady expansion interrupted by both obstacles and resilience, fighting in several confrontations with significant armies such as the Army of Club Penguin and the Nachos while steadily solidifying its identity. Elmikey’s impact was a critical turning point, since he began his Club Penguin Army career as RPF’s first recruit in 2007 and rapidly became essential in the team’s early success. Along with Commando717, he co-led RPF to victory over the Underground Mafias Army in World War III, establishing the Federation as a genuine emergent force. After leaving in 2008, Elmikey returned in 2013 to lead what is commonly described as the RPF’s “Second Golden Age,” employing revolutionary auto-typing recruitment tactics that greatly raised unit sizes and restored the army’s competitiveness.

During the 2013-2014 revival, Elmikey helped reestablish RPF supremacy with wins over the Nachos and Army Republic, along with co-leader Silverburg, whose recruiting and training reinforced the army’s organization. This time solidified RPF’s legacy with Legends Cup IV and Christmas Chaos V, indicating further success. After a brief 2014 absence, Elmikey returned in 2015 to command the “Victory Returns” phase, during which RPF surpassed 70 soldiers, won back-to-back Legends Cups in 2015 and 2016, and beat the Light Troops in battle. His leadership carried over into the CPPS transition phase, directing RPF to victory in the Tubas War following Club Penguin’s shutdown, consolidating his influence and establishing the army’s identity through eras of development, domination, adaptability, and success in the developing Club Penguin Army community history.

MODERN ERA

In the contemporary age, notably during the COVID-19 period in 2020, RPF witnessed increased activity and leadership growth, with Link3000 joining in June 2020 and progressively ascending through the ranks from High Command to eventually being a central leader. Under his leadership, the army remained competitive through 2022 and beyond, winning tournaments such as AUSIA Arena: Winter Edition, Christmas Chaos XII and March Madness VIII as well as participating in major conflicts such as World War IX and the Summer Sovereign War, successfully balancing offensive and defensive operations.

In 2024 and 2025, RPF experienced a period of increased supremacy under Link3000’s co-leadership, which included Gabegirl, as evidenced by  Major Legend status and many high-profile triumphs. The army advanced to the finals of March Madness IX, followed by a convincing victory against the Secret Service in the Autumn Tundra Clash, then a dominant performance in Christmas Chaos XIV over the Doritos. In 2025, RPF expanded its success by winning March Madness X against Help Force and reclaiming the Legends Cup XV title against the Aliens, while Link received significant individual recognition, including Best Major Army Leader, Person of the Year 2025 (“The Calculated Winner”), and induction as an RPF Legend in early 2026.

Link3000’s Person of the Year 2025 Award, dubbed ” The Calculated Winner “.

ANNIVERSARY

Nineteen years later, the Rebel Penguin Federation continues to uphold its major status within the community, firmly establishing itself as one of the most dominant forces in Club Penguin Armies. Remaining consistently competitive at the highest level, RPF has continued to reinforce its legacy through both success and longevity. To celebrate nineteen years of history and achievement, the army hosted a week-long anniversary celebration filled with events, contests, and community activities. This year’s festivities embraced a legacy-themed atmosphere, with Rebels participating in a variety of activities ranging from bingo and themed battles to interactive challenges and special community events throughout the week.

I. What did RPF do to celebrate its 19th anniversary this year?

RPF is hosting a week of events, both favourites of the troops as well as some throwbacks. There’s more in server activities, giveaways and it all ends in the big gala on Saturday

II. What does reaching 19 years mean to you and Gabegirl as current leaders of the Rebels?

It’s a great feeling being able to see it, in general and as RCs. 19 years is a great accomplishment and we are happy to be part of it.

III. What has been the biggest challenge in maintaining activity and consistency in the army in recent years?

The instability of CPPS definitely was the main challenge for a while. There wasnt a steady way of recruiting and everything just slowed down for a bit.

IV. How significant is the contribution of veterans in shaping and preserving RPF’s current identity and culture?

RPF Vets have always been important and appreciated. And their steady presence – to me at least – shows the community of RPF. They’re retired, they dont have any obligations to the army but they still choose to be active and support us.

V. What is one aspect of RPF’s success that you believe is often misunderstood or overlooked by those outside the community?

In all honesty, I am not too focused on seeing what people say or disregard to be able to answer this properly. I do know that the community does like to talk about how strong our vet presence. and whilst that is true, and we always appreciate any vet that does support us in any way, it is not the biggest aspect of successes or at least as big as people think. I am sure there’s other parts that can be misunderstood as people dont know the inner workings of any army and not just RPF

The Rebel Penguin Federation is still one of the key armies in army history, 19 years after it was established. Throughout every generation of CPA history, RPF has continuously shown tenacity, durability, and adaptability, from its early beginnings during the community’s formative years to its ongoing success in the present period.

What distinguishes RPF’s history is not just the successes, tournaments, or disputes it overcame, but also the persistent community that maintained it over nearly two decades of change. Across many eras, leaders, veterans, and younger generations all helped to shape an identity based on loyalty, tenacity, and continuity. Few armies have managed to maintain both relevance and culture over such a long period of time, especially in an ever-changing communal scene. As the Federation marks its 19th anniversary, it not only remembers its previous triumphs, but also reflects the long-term influence that devotion, unity, and leadership can have on a whole community. What do you think has been the most important factor in RPF’s ability to survive and remain relevant for 19 years? In your view, which era of RPF’s history had the greatest impact on shaping its identity today?
