Army History

Lydia is no stranger to the army community, having led several armies in the past, including historical giants such as the Underground Mafias Army. She first entered the community in 2019, joining the Doritos, and left not long after to join the Ice Warriors. From here, she moved to the Templars, achieving the rank of Leader in Training. Following this, in 2021, Lydia would go on to join the infamous UMA as a member of their High Command and was promoted to leader not long after.

After UMA’s closure, Lydia left the community, although she eventually returned, leading a multitude of Small/Medium armies. Determined to make her mark, she would join the Water Vikings on and off, under the leadership of Dino, Cabin, and Mabel, before becoming a permanent member under Raven’s leadership.

Promotion to leader

Lydia’s induction came as no surprise, as she has been a key player for the Vikings over the past ten months. Her loyalty and dedication have been integral to the army’s success, as evidenced by their victory in the Candy Crusher Brawl tournament. As well as this, Lydia has been vital to WV’s success in a myriad of wars.

Due to these circumstances, as aforementioned, last Saturday, November 8, Lydia received her promotion to Viking Commander. Despite no official announcement being made, her promotion was met with applause and a warm welcome to help strengthen the WV team.

Mato congratulated and commended Lydia on her promotion.

To find out more about her promotion, Club Penguin Armies reached out to Lydia for an exclusive interview.

You’ve been in the army community for quite a while; how does it feel, and what does it mean to you to now be commanding one of the strongest contemporary armies?

Honestly, it’s a bit surreal. The thought that I was viewed worthy of leading Water Vikings is super rewarding, and I am truly honored to be given such an amazing position. It’s means a lot to me that I was given a second chance in the community, and my second chance was rewarded with this.

You talk of being given a second chance. When comparing your past experiences in armies such as UMA to your time in the Water Vikings, what do you see as the key differences? How are things different now from then in your eyes?

I feel more prepared with Water Vikings. When I was a Underground Mafias Army leader I didn’t feel as prepared, and honestly it was such a short amount of time from my promotion I didn’t have the opportunity to actually prove myself. This time, I feel like I can actually prove myself and my capabilities regarding leadership instead of being viewed as a troll of some sort.

Speaking of your leadership capabilities, how do you plan on improving the Water Vikings? Do you have any goals in mind for the army?

I do have a lot of goals in mind for the army. I don’t want to share them, but one of them is to make the color from blue to brown.

Over their long lifespan, the Vikings have had some extraordinary leaders. How will you ensure your name is recorded alongside previous legends within the army and the wider community?

I’ll make sure to always strive for the best of the army, and not what’s best for me.

Do you have any final remarks or closing statements?

Evidently, Lydia has proven herself to be a valuable asset to the Vikings, and her induction will surely bring great things. A confident leader, willing to put her army first, who knows what the army will achieve with her at the helm. But how do you think her tenure will age? Will she go down as one of the Vikings’ best Commanders? What can we expect under her leadership? Could Lydia induce a Golden Age for WV?
