The title of Club Penguin Army Legend is reserved for the most outstanding individuals in the community. Every legend has left its mark, whether for better or worse, by making a significant impact. Some led the most powerful armies of their era, others drove major advancements within the community, and some offered invaluable contributions to everyone. While each legend’s journey is unique, they all share the distinction of being legendary.

The annual Legend Inductions consistently stir up discussion in the community. Each year, nominations are revealed, the committee casts their votes, and the results spark inevitable controversy. On December 24, 2024, Legends Committee Head, DMT announced this year’s list of nominees. Various key members of the community received nominations, along with the winners chosen by the community. In 2024, 19 people earned nominations for CPA Legend, including 13 for Major Legend and six for Small/Medium Legend.

Interviewing 19 people is no small feat, so we have narrowed it down to nine accomplished nominees with varying histories and backgrounds. Club Penguin Armies present to you, 2024’s Legend Nominees Press Conference, featuring Bestpenguin, Echo, Roxy, Joel, Scars, Shinzo, Jojo Teri, Ugly and Ryebread.

How does it feel to be nominated for Army Legend?

Bestpenguin, Aliens Leader: it feels good and I’m honoured to be nominated as army legend. Last time I got nominated in 2019.

Echo, Templars Leader: This is not really my first time I think its probably the second. But it feels pretty good to at least make it into the nominations.

I’d be more excited if I knew I had a solid shot but I haven’t honestly been able to do much since I’ve been more focused on fixing the ruins TCP was left in than anything else. I am however excited to be able to at least get my career so far out there and excited for next year where I truly have all the power to shine.

Roxy, Army of Club Penguin Leader :Honestly, being nominated for Army Legend is truly amazing as I never thought I’d make it that far. I’m so grateful for the community, and I’m really honored to be nominated for Army Legend.

JoelPretty good

Scars, People’s Imperial Confederation Leader: Being nominated for Army Legend is a huge honor, S/M or major. I’m glad to have the opportunity to even be nominated and be listed alongside many friends and notable figures. Obviously, I don’t expect to win and I’m sure many others expect the same, but it’s wild to be nominated nonetheless. However, my ego is at an all time high after winning Best S/M army leader at the Winter Awards. I hope to receive at least one vote and maybe even win!

Shinzo, Winged Hussars Former Leader: It’s a mixed feeling. On the one hand I’m really very grateful for all the people that consider me worthy of this title and have supported myself getting nominated for it. It’s a great honour. On the other hand, however, I don’t really feel like I really made an impact. I can see why people wanted me to get nominated, but I don’t really feel it myself. I’m a CPA leader and that’s it. I don’t like or want to be seen as anything ‘legendary’, even if it is just in something as Club Penguin armies. So that’s why I feel a bit conflicted about it. I don’t really want it and still don’t feel like I truly deserve it, but then again I feel very honoured to be nominated and considered to have made such an impact. And I am thankful for that

Jojo Teri, Club Penguin Armies Head Judge: I was a bit surprised to see one of the few people that got nominated for SM legend. From what i know there were several names from PIC forwarded as nominations and i was 1 of the 2 that were chosen as the final nominees. I’m very happy and excited for this, seeing my doings were recognised.

Ugly, Army of Club Penguin Former Leader: Not anything surprising. Nomination is a given so I’m moreso waiting for the inductions.

Ryebread, Water Vikings Leader: It’s a very mundane feeling to be honest, I wasn’t expecting to be nominated but the fact that I was feels very nice. I don’t think I will campaign to get the achievement because I’d rather earn it by the community’s choice.

Reflecting on your journey this year, what are some things you’re proud of?

Bestpenguin: I had an interesting journey this year, I’m proud of the performance we had in christmas chaos, I’m proud of our performance we had in quarterfinals against templars. I’m proud of achieving major status within 40days of the revival of Aliens and at last I’m proud of fostering compassion in Aliens.

Echo: I’m mostly proud of being able to reach major status after almost everyone seemingly gave up on my army. And I think I can say that up till now I have a leadership team I’m very proud of.

Recently I saw the induction of Billy Bob into TCPs leadership whom is my first prodigy.

As for combat related things it will probably be CC. It gave me a glimpse of what templar can be if I stay dedicated. And I’m quite proud of being able to lead that army.

Roxy: The Centenary Solstice War is definitely something I’m very proud of. The war lasted for a month, and we were initially losing the war. However we managed to turn the tide which was a really proud moment for our army. Although the constant gains and loss on a daily basis was really annoying, it was honorable to come out of the war without any peace treaty’s or term breaking taking place. I’ll always be grateful for my HCOM, Staff and Members believing in us for the war. Most of my focus was on the internals of our army and I’m really happy to see it thriving. Other than that I’m also proud of winning the Blood Bowl.

Joel: My top 3 are probably winning the war of vengeance against the #1 army at the time, winning the tropical rumble trophy and reaching the CC final

Scars: I came into the community a bit late this year but I’m proud of pretty much all of it. I’m most proud of winning Operation: Iron Resolve against the Spartans as we worked hard for the win, beating them on their own division to secure the dub. I’m also proud to be able to lead PIC, going from a meme army to leading such a great S/M army. Finally, I’m proud of ascending from the Summer Awards, going from third to first in voting this time around!!

Shinzo: I’m very proud of being a part of the recreation of the WH because I can proudly and hopefully rightfully say that we have created an army that can accomodate everyone happily. What matters most is that people can be happy and have a lot of fun in events and the server. To be included and form a connection. To be like a little family. And I am happy that the WH has grown to be exactly this. And when I can see how people, after even over a year, can return and simply be happy to chat it fills me with pride and joy

Jojo Teri: Im VERY proud of everything I did in PIC till the end of the summer, including all the won wars, tournaments and rises to major, even though I could have taken some other better decisions after that time. I am also VERY proud that I managed to become an HJ in CPAJ since its way more difficult than becoming an army leader and a unique achievement.

Ugly: Stability and a good foundation being left in ACP, and the successes we made along the way.

Ryebread: I really liked being in Around The World Cup and Project Conquest: Blood Bowl, both were tournament ideas that I wanted to see in the community. I’m proud of my time in Water Vikings, and these past 9 months in the army I have grown so much and only getting better.

Inversely, if you were to do your career again would you change anything?

Bestpenguin: I wouldn’t change anything.

Echo: I was for sure quite naive and missed out on many opportunities. I mean I’ve been here for almost 10 years and just now I’m starting to be noticed. I’ve had a long time to do something. What I would change would probably be the opportunities missed. I’d take them. There is also just a lot of things I’ve done in the past out of immaturity and ignorance that has probably shifted the way people view me nowadays including the way I led.

Roxy: No, I wouldn’t change anything because I’ve learnt a lot in my journey. Any loss or mistake made just gave me room to correct them and grow, and if I never made them in the first place I wouldn’t have ever grown from the experience. Any person can make mistakes, but what truly matters is how you deal with it. I’m immensely grateful for all the people around me constantly supporting me and criticizing me whenever needed. I find it really helpful and I strive to be the better version of myself in the coming year.

Joel: I wouldn’t have joined PIC

Scars: Not really. I think the one thing that could’ve really helped/support my case would be coming back into the community earlier. I rejoined in around June and had finally reopened the SCP for the fifth generation in August. Besides that though, it’s been smooth sailing.

ShinzoI would not

Jojo Teri: I wouldnt change anything because the things that happened brought me to today and any mistakes that taught me how to be better, so it is what it is.

Ugly: Absolutely nothing.

Ryebread: I would have not rejoined POM in 2023, to be honest I should have joined WV sooner.

What has kept you going this year?

Bestpenguin: My passion for aliens and my friends kept me going this year.

Echo: Definitely the people in Templars. I think many can vouch that I’ve been close to giving up and its the dedicated HCOM and leaders that have kept me going.

Roxy: One of my biggest goal is keeping my community happy. This would be a goal for the entirety of my leadership and it has been one of the main reasons that kept me going. I always strive to keep our community a safe and happy place, and it’ll continue to be my drive to keep going. My hard work would be reflected that way, and there’s always room for improvement. I love my people.

Joel: The strong community in SS & DCP

Scars: All my friends and my dedication has kept me going. Since my return, I’ve received an overwhelming amount of support, from friends old and new. Everyone has been supportive throughout the journey this year and it just adds to my determination to succeed and achieve greatness. But most of all, the Scars haters keep me going the most!

Shinzo: The many wonderful people I have been fortunate enough to meet and lots of boredom

Jojo Teri: PIC was one of my favourite armies so I struggled to keep making it better in any way I could. I didnt aim to become a legend nominee, I simply wanted to make a name for myself in PIC and imrpove it as well as I could. Also it had a casual style, which I liked and helped me put more effort and it still took cpa seriously, eventually managing to dominate the sm community.

Ugly: Integrity and dedication.

Ryebread: Hard question to answer, I think more than anything I like the community I’m in and doing fun things for my community.

What advice would you give to army leaders in 2025 aiming to earn a nomination?

Bestpenguin: My advice to all other army leaders would be to be kind and focus more on the positive environment you built in your army during your leadership.

Echo: Don’t try and be like everyone else. Stay true to your values, stay dedicated, work hard and consistently.

Roxy: Continue to do what makes you happy. Chasing others dreams in the long run would exhaust you and you would end up unhappy. Just have fun and achieve goals that you want to. Even if you fail to achieve them, learn from the experience. Every experience is something you can learn from and grow. You should be open to criticism and grow from it. Don’t forget to have fun

Joel: Keep working hard, recruit, get accounts made and make sure you are having fun while doing it!

Scars: Id definitely recommend to network. It’s always nice to meet new people, but they can also be a great help in the long run, whether it be with support or with advice. Another thing is to just never give up. 4 years ago as a troop in the DCP, I would’ve never seen myself leading an army or even being nominated for Legend. The key to success in this community is to have determination and grit.

Shinzo: Honestly, don’t. Don’t focus on becoming a legend. Focus on having fun and simply enjoying your time with your co-leaders, hcom, and all of your troops. Simply have fun and enjoy CPA. That’s worth more than anything

Jojo Teri: I’d say dont focus on getting a legend nomination. Dont make your goal to be a legend nominee. Instead try to improve your army in any way you can and as much you can and if you are worthy you will get nominated at the end of the year.

Ugly: Never let anyone bring you down, strive for greatness no matter the circumstances.

Ryebread: Don’t expect anything to be easy.

Do you have any final comments for the wider community?

Bestpenguin: My final comment would be to spread the love and positivity in CPA. Next year Aliens will rise higher and we will continue to be kind and lovely.

Echo: I’m a much more different person than I was at the beginning of August-September and even different than I was a month ago. And I’m now more dedicated, more focused, and have a set goal for the year 2025.

Templars will become an army to be feared and whether you are there for us in our rise or not will dictate your armies fate.

Roxy: Whatever you do, make sure you’re enjoying what you’re actually doing. After all this community should be a stress reliever and not stress inducer.

Joel: 2025 is the year of the dorito

Scars: VIVA SCARS VIVA 54 VIVA VILLA VIVA COOLGIRL AVE ABRACADABRA SHOUTOUT THE GANG FREE THE GUYS FREE TIDE

Shinzo: Simply thank you, everyone. Thank you for impacting mine and the lives of many people positively. So many people take us as examples and spend countless hours per day with us. Each army is a bit of a family and the community ties us all together. Let’s strive to make it even more enjoyable and accomodating for everyone. I hope you all have a great day 🙂

Jojo Teri: Its important to keep in mind that CPA should be done for fun, during the daily free time. Real life should always come first before cpa. And remember its not worth it to sacrifice more time and energy, in it, than you can afford, in order to become a legend nominee!

Ugly: Thank you for believing in me.

Ryebread: Thank you for awarding me Best YouTuber this year, and (almost) Best S/M Leader. Maybe if I actually tried getting the award, I would’ve. Here’s to another year CPA!

Every nominee has their reasons why this recognition is so meaningful to them. While some reflect on their time in armies with fond memories, others have different perspectives. What’s evident is that each nominee this year has put in tremendous effort to earn their spot on the list. Everyone on that list has truly earned their place through hard work and dedication. Stay tuned, as the Legends results are expected to be announced possibly soon. Best of luck to all!
