The September drop claims a victim as Lass announces a break from leading the Elite Guardians. We will see what led to him stepping back, and the potential ramifications of his decision.
On September 6, Lass posted an announcement to the Elite Guardians of Club Penguin‘s Discord server, announcing that he is stepping back from leadership. He attributes the decision to his responsibilities in real life, especially with him starting college. Lass assured the Guardians, however, that his absence would be short, as he plans to return for their anniversary in October. This announcement has presented itself at a difficult time for EGCP, as they were recently wiped off the server map by the Army of Club Penguin. They have returned to the map via their brother allies, the Winged Hussars, but they find themselves locked in war once more with the army that granted them their servers.
We will likely see more penguins dropping from armies as the summer waves farewell. The September drop is already a well-known phrase within the community, as many troops return to school or further studies. In defiance of this trend, EGCP’s size points have increased for the past two Top Tens, despite a drop in position to seventh in the latest edition.
Lass has been a constant in the army since its reemergence in May 2023. First discovering armies via the Rebel Penguin Federation in 2017, he found his way to EGCP in June 2018. Since becoming EGCP’s leader in May 2023, he has accomplished a lot within the army, which hasn’t gone unrewarded. Earlier this year, he was inducted into his army’s Hall of Fame as a Legend for his tireless dedication.
Club Penguin Armies sat down with Lass to talk about his departure from the army.
Are you confident that the Guardians will fare well without your leadership?
Of course, Fitsuki is capable and is singlehandedly holding the army back together. I have total faith not only in him but our HCOM as well, which will be learning valuable lessons and principles so that they may one day rise to leadership. Hopefully the army will be in a very good state when I arrive back.
What will be your goals for the army upon your return?
The same as they have been.
It seems as if the Guardians are now in Fitsuki’s capable hands. We will soon see if the Guardians can maintain their strength until Lass returns. Will we see any more leaders step away within the army community? How will Lass’ departure impact the Guardians? What will EGCP aim for next?
