New Year Bonanza 2024: Meet The Judges

For the second time ever, the New Year Bonanza will be making an appearance as the first tournament of the year. Only a few hours remain until the epic clash of major and small-medium armies occurs. As more judges continue to accept the responsibility of judging the battle, we met with the courageous few already signed up.

This will be the first rendition of the New Year Bonanza at Club Penguin Armies. Although the last time New Year Bonanza took place was under a separate organization, we are more than excited to hold our own version. In 2022, the winners of the New Year Bonanza were the Fire Warriors and Templars. Although the Fire Warriors are no longer around, the Templars are looking to defend their major divisional title.

For those that don’t know, the New Year Bonanza is arguably one of the toughest tournament battles to judge. All participating armies will be online at the same time, meaning that there will be up to six battles occurring all at once. That is certainly a lot of penguins. For this epic clash, every single army (except the Coup Crusaders) will be participating. This means that there are going to be a lot of judges needed; therefore judges were decided by the Head Judges who can accurately judge across different size categorizations.

New Year Bonanza 2022: Templars versus Water Vikings

What are you most looking forward to in the New Year Bonanza?

Disha, Executive Producer: I am excited to see how the armies do and how the pair-ups for each room will come to be. This is certainly a tournament that gives both the major armies as well as the small-medium armies to shine, and I think the fact that neither army knows about their three opponents prior to the rooms’ announcement is something that is not only intriguing but adds to the fun and thrill of it all.

Jakob, former Friendly Gamers: I’m looking forward to some of the creative, new things that each army will do. Each tournament is always different but with some new and creative eye-catching formations and tactics armies will be noticed more.

Hidcre, former People’s Imperial Confederation: What I’m looking forward to is all armies battling like [their] lives depend on it because that’s how I know they [are] putting 101% effort [in].

Mchappy, Chief Executive Producer: I am most looking forward to continuing on an old tradition. It’s rewarding to see this tournament finally come to fruition after the planning we did for it before Wynn retired. Additionally, I know a common criticism of the league lately has been a lack of opportunities for the small-medium army community. Well, this is another chance for them to add an accolade to their belt.

There will be two winners after tonight, so how can an army come out on top?

Disha, Executive Producer: I believe an army has to give their best in terms of creativity, formations, speed speed, formations, and creativity in all of the three rooms to be able to come out on top. It is an uncertain situation for all armies as they don’t know who they are going to be up against. However, I feel it’s important to believe in one’s abilities and have faith in one another to get through this.

Jakob, former Friendly Gamers: My advice for this tournament since it’s in such a different format is to not stress and pretend that it’s just like a normal battle (even though that can be hard).

Hidcre, former People’s Imperial Confederation: How an army can come out on top in this format is looking as clean as possible and fast. It’s almost as if one mistake can cost you to dip in the standings, it’s a free-for-all so, yeah, you got to [redacted] everyone up.

Mchappy, Chief Executive Producer: Endurance is the biggest key to succeeding in a tournament like this. Considering that every room is a different opponent, armies will need to constantly be adapting their strategy. Also, this means that an army looking to win will want to minimize the amount of idle troops as much as possible. In a tournament like this, it requires you to stay on your toes, so if someone is lagging out or straight up not paying attention, it will cost them a chance at the trophy.

What’s your max !user size prediction?

Disha, Executive Producer: I would guess 150-175?

Jakob, former Friendly Gamers: I expect around 120 online today!

Hidcre, former People’s Imperial Confederation: My max !user size prediction will probably be like around 160 people online.

Mchappy, Chief Executive Producer: Assuming I’ve been tracking the hype correctly, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see almost 200 online.

Once again, we must acknowledge that this tournament would not be possible without Club Penguin Army Judges. Thank you to the wonderful judges for taking on the challenge of today’s event. We, at Club Penguin Armies, wish both the armies and judges participating the best of luck in the battle. What is the best way for an army to confirm it is one of the two winning at New Year Bonanza?
