We live in an age where Artificial Intelligence is used more and more and influences many aspects of our daily life. AI has also made its appearance in the Club Penguin army community, so we felt it was necessary to have some guidelines for our organisation.
Introduction
With the use of Artificial Intelligence and its complexity increasing, there have been ethical questions about when it should be used. AI has taken over the internet, with it being everywhere from Google searches to videos on social media. While it is a great tool in some cases, it is also a controversial one in others. For example, when creating material like music or images, it is questionable who should be credited for them. The copyright issue also arises from this as well. The use of AI requires some ethical boundaries, and this is what this post aims to do, at least within the Club Penguin Armies departments.
Graphics
The Graphics department is probably the most affected one. With image creation and art in the most advanced models becoming more and more human-like, many people could be tempted to use AI instead of graphic designers. CPA adopts a strict policy on this matter. The thumbnails, trophies, and graphics in general should be mostly human-made. It is allowed to use AI in order to create some shapes or refine some parts of the graphic, but generally the graphic should be human-made. Anything generated from AI that is intended to be used in a graphic should be edited to fit into the Graphics Department guidelines. AI usage is also allowed to generate templates or base ideas that the human-made graphics will be based on.
Writing
The Media department is also heavily affected by the use of AI. Members of the department are not allowed to use AI directly to write their posts. Additionally, they shall not do army history research through AI, as it twists the facts almost every time. They can request help from AI to find some websites related to what they are searching for, but any research should be done based on those websites and in accordance with the department’s guides. Some people have occasionally used AI for translation. This is not encouraged, as it can once again alter the meaning of the submitted text. Ideally, translation should be done using dictionaries, but Google Translate itself has also become more accurate lately. If the latter is used, it should be cross-checked with the editors. Tools that also use AI, like Grammarly, are allowed, as long as they don’t “overwhelm” the text.
In general, AI can also be used as a tool for a variety of tasks, from brainstorming ideas to fixing broken code. It is even present in the moderation aspect, with Discord’s AutoMod relying on AI. Social Media is probably the area where it can be the least used, as any editing or creation of videos has to be done manually. However, even there, the department shall not use AI-made music for its videos, which has started to become a trend lately online.
As long as it is used as a tool to make people’s lives easier, without recreational purposes, and without much dependence on it, AI is useful and a good addition to our daily lives. In the Discord server, #ai-slop has been made for AI slop. Sometimes, AI memes may be allowed in #memes as well; be careful, though, because it may lead you to get the “I am unfunny” role.
Note: The policy goes into effect at the time that it is posted, on November 3 2026.
