Club Penguin Armies Presents: October Horrors II

The popular tournament from last October is making a return with its second iteration. Read this post to find out all the details regarding it.

Following the success of the CPA20 Challengers Cup, Club Penguin Armies is hosting another tournament. This time, it will be Halloween-themed, with both Major and Small-Medium armies being invited. This tournament is the October Horrors II.

In the first one last year, in the Major division, we first saw the Water Vikings facing the Help Force. WV managed to win all three rooms and proceed to the Grand Finals round. On the other side, the Aliens faced the Army of Club Penguin. This battle had a surprising result, with 3 ties. Due to the tournament’s special room, both armies proceeded to the finals. Thus, we saw a 3 way finals between Aliens, ACP, and WV. The Aliens ended up winning all 3 rooms and the major trophy.

In the Small-Medium division, the Witches of Club Penguin faced the Phantom Republic in the Qualifiers, with the latter winning. Then, in the Quarter Finals, the PRCP was against the Dark Warriors, but it did not show up, giving DW the victory. On the other side, the Romans faced the Special Weapons and Tactics, with the latter winning. Additionally, the Fire Vikings faced the Templars, with TCP securing the win, and the Penguins of Agartha faced the People’s Imperial Confederation, with PIC winning.
Then DW faced SWAT and managed to defeat it, while PIC defeated TCP. Thus, we reached the Grand Finals, where DW and PIC faced each other in an intense battle. In it, DW performed better and secured the win.

October Horrors II

The tournament this year will follow the same format as the last one. The main differences are that it will be judged by the Army Judging Board, and there will not be a Super Cup this time. As with last year, Major Army battles will take place on Saturday, while SM ones will take place on Sunday. Each army will have 3 battles (or 2, depending on the number of sign-ups). The Quarter Finals will be around AUSIA times, the Semi Finals in EU times, and the Grand Finals in US times. There will once again be no Overtime rooms in the Quarter Finals and Semi Finals battles. There will be up to 2 Overtime rooms in the Grand Finals. The Major battles will be taking place on October 24 and the SM ones on October 25. The battle times in detail are the following:

Saturday/Sunday
(Major/SM)

October 24 and 25

Quarter Finals

1: 8 am EDT
2: 9 am EDT
3: 10 am EDT
4: 11 am EDT

Semi Finals

5: 1 pm EDT (winners of 1 and 2)
6: 3 pm EDT (winners of 3 and 4)

Grand Finals

7: 7 pm EDT (winners of 5,6)

  • Note: EU daylight saving timezone changes are on October 25. The tournament will use the EDT timezone (GMT-4). In general, UK/Portugal will be 4 hours ahead of EDT, Central Europe 5 hours, and Eastern Europe 6 hours.

Similar to last year, ties are allowed as a final verdict. In that case, both armies will advance and have a 3-way battle. In 3-way battles, judges shall point out who was second and third, apart from the winner.

Signing Up

The following armies are welcome to participate, with the sign-ups concluding on Saturday, October 17, at 12 PM EST/5 PM UK. The matchups will be decided based on the armies’ performance in the Top Tens over the past 4 weeks. If you are an army leader, confirm your participation in the direct messages with an administrator.

This tournament will be a great first test for the Army Judging Board. We would like to thank the AJB Head Judges for agreeing to provide trained judges for this tournament, the CPA: Battleground, which provides a safe army-based CPPS where we can host it, and MasterDS for making the tournament logo. Which army do you think will win the Grand Finals in each division? Will AJB manage to withstand the pressure in its first tournament?
