Legends Cup XVI concluded with a thrilling final between the Army of Club Penguin and the Rebel Penguin Federation. After three standard rooms, there was still no winner. Consequently, the armies had to play two additional rooms.
The Road to the Grand Finals of the Legends Cup XVI began on July 11. Nine armies participated: Romans of Club Penguin, SnowWalkers of Club Penguin, Army of Club Penguin, Dark Warriors, Help Force, Star Force, Water Vikings, Rebel Penguin Federation, and Pizzaioli of Club Penguin. ACP and RPF entered the Grand Finals with the same goal: winning the Legends Cup XVI trophy. Both armies performed very well, so it took a long time before a winner was determined.
Army of Club Penguin vs. Rebel Penguin Federation
Room 1 – Docks
On August 2nd at 4 PM EST, the Army of Club Penguin fought the Rebel Penguin Federation in the grand finals. The battle started with ACP entering the room first; the sizes of both armies were 87-55 RPF. Both armies chose to form a triangle formation. ACP was way more visible than RPF. The two armies had incredible pace in terms of tactics, and they both defended against bombs really well. RPF bombed a bit later, but ACP’s defence made the bomb look small. However, when ACP pursued bombing tactics, RPF’s defense made the army ultimately look small. ACP won room one.
Room 2 – Iceberg
While both competing armies entered before the official announcement, SWAT was first to enter like good lads. ACP held a size advantage of approximately 79-67 when the room began. ACP and RPF initially used formations similar to those seen in the first room. Both armies performed at a comparable level despite the difference in size after moving; RPF created a star-like formation, while ACP formed a triangle with a horizontal line.
RPF’s following bomb was limited by ACP’s defensive formation. ACP was somewhat slow to complete their response. When ACP later raked through the room, RPF reacted more quickly and maintained a stronger defence. Toward the end, ACP formed an underline v while RPF produced a more creative, candy-shaped formation. The armies remained close in size, speed, and tactical execution; however, RPF displayed a stronger formation and used the battle room more effectively, allowing the rebels to level the battle, making the winner of this room RPF.
Room 3 – Inside the Mine
Both armies entered the mine at approximately the same time, although Several ACP troops were already present. Furthermore, RPF held the larger force at the beginning, with around 80 troops compared with ACP’s 67.
ACP opened with an underlined plus formation while RPF used a triangle with a vertical line. Moreover, ACP left several visible gaps near the bottom of its formation. However, RPF attempted a waterfall, but it had limited impact, while ACP’s defensive response was also slower than expected.
The quality improved as the room progressed. Adding to that, RPF produced a clean arrow formation before ACP responded with a trident. Both armies continued performing tactics at high speed, while RPF’s active troops helped the rebels maintain particularly neat formations. Despite several strong moments from both sides, their overall formation pacing and tactics were too evenly matched to produce a clear winner. The judges therefore call the final round a tie.
First Overtime: Snow Forts
ACP entered the Snow Forts first, but RPF followed almost immediately. In addition, ACP began the overtime room with a size advantage of approximately 78-67. Although neither opening formation was particularly clear, ACP initially appeared to control more of the Room. After that, RPF launched a bomb, but ACP responded with a solid defence and maintained its position. ACP later moved into an arrow formation, while RPF created a triangle.
Both armies performed their tactics at a similar speed, leaving little difference between them. However, ACP attempted a bomb of its own, but it had a limited impact. RPF’s defensive response was equally unconvincing. However, neither army managed to produce a clearly visible formation afterwards. Much like the third Room, the overall performance was evenly matched, an niether side did enough to earn the victory as this OT went into a tie.
Second Overtime: Forest
ACP and RPF entered the forest at approximately the same time. However, a major size difference immediately separated the two armies. ACP began with around 96 troops, while RPF had approximately 51. The opening formation was difficult to identify, although ACP appears to combine a plus formation with a surrounding formation.RPF was barely visible during this part of the battle, allowing ACP to control most of the room. ACP maintained its advantage as the room continued, with the sizes later reaching approximately 89-58. RPF eventually produced a clear X formation, but ACP quickly responded with a bomb and continued applying pressure. Near the end, ACP surrounded the room using what appeared to be an upside-down Y formation, while RPF formed an A. Although RPF’s troop count increased slightly, ACP retained an overwhelming numerical advantage
ACP controlled the second overtime room through its superior size, fast pacing, effective tactics, and dominant formation. While RPF continued fighting, it could not overcome ACP’s strong presence across the room. This performance secured the overtime victory, and the Legends Cup XVI title is for ACP
Club Penguin Armies reached out to different community members to learn their thoughts on the battle.
What are your thoughts on the Grand Finals battle?
Fun X Time, Editor-In-Chief: The Grand Finals battle was pretty big. Both armies maxed over 100 and did equally well. No doubt, the two are really the superpowers of the army community. I would have seen the major armies in a better light if they had shown the same amount of competitiveness outside of tournaments, too, though.
Elite888, Masked Bandits Staff: I was honestly expecting the feds to win ngl because they always fucking do but somehow acp was somehow able to pull off the win. I honestly think McHappy did some sort of black magic there
Greenvege, Shadow Legionnaries Leader : Peak is the word, for me ACP did good in OT 1, but they failed to convince other two judges, so we went for OT 2 and I was like hell yeah, things were going to be topsy turvy and fun and forest was an epic call from myself, where ACP dominated with size alone
Morningdew, Fire Vikings Staff :It was exciting to watch 2 overwhelmingly huge armies fight it out Especially how it went to double OT
Tornmyfavourite, SnowWalkers of CP leader: The battle was a pretty intresting battle
What are your thoughts on the double overtime?
Is there anything else that you would like to add?
Fun X Time: The Army of Club Penguin and the Rebel Penguin Federation have done a great job at the Grand Finals. And now, it is (already) time for them to start paying attention to realistic wars and the army map, which the major armies have collectively killed.
Elite888: Swat would’ve soloed those 2 armies without any OT needed
Greenvege: SL NEXT MAJOR 🥀
morningdewIt: is boring to see ACP win every time, I hope we get to see an upset in the next tourney
Tornmyfavourite: SNOWWALKERS ON TOP
Overall, ACP and RPF gave the community a close and exciting Grand Final. After the first overtime ended in a tie, ACP dominated the second overtime and became the Legends Cup XVI champion. What did you think of the grand final? Could RPF have won with a bigger size in the second overtime?
