What Are Civic Services?
Civic services in the army community have a variety of ranges depending on the army organisation. They may vary from moderating a league Discord server and reporting on the latest news within the community to helping organise events and calculating the top ten results of the week. They can also involve roles outside of army leagues, in other organisations within the army community.
Historically, many army organisations have included these services within their ranks. Club Penguin Army Central, which commenced its operations in 2009, opened the door to many of these opportunities. Their departments included their Top Ten Committee, which posted weekly Top Tens of the armies of that era, and the media department, which kept the community updated with all the latest news. It also included an impartial Judges Department and a dedicated graphics team. Other notable leagues included the Club Penguin Army Headquarters, the Club Penguin Army Hub, and Small/Medium Army Central.
In the current era, the lead army league is Club Penguin Armies, revived in 2022, it serves as a community hub for members of all armies. It provides premier news coverage, updates, weekly Top Tens, tournaments, and much more! Active departments include the Media Department, the Community Committee, the Top Ten Committee, the Moderation Department, the Social Media Department, and the Graphics Department. All these departments offer various positions to members. But all this begs the question: why should you join civic services?
Why You Should Join Civic Services
Building connections
Having good ties with fellow team members, department heads, or just community members in general can help you gain traction across the community. It can help open the doors to future leadership opportunities within armies, allow you to learn from experienced members, and help build your trust and credibility within the community. Sometimes, it can even build friendships lasting longer than any organisation or army!
Developing your creative expressions
Developing your creative expressions, including writing articles, helping the community committee in organising events, and creating graphics, are all transferable skills to real life. They help you develop your grammatical skills, communication skills, and perhaps even build a resume online in graphic design. It gives members the opportunity to contribute original ideas and let their creativity flow!
Developing leadership skills
After contributing to the departments of your choice, you may have the opportunity to get promoted within those departments. In the media department, Editors are responsible for helping reporters develop their articles, edit posts, and provide constructive feedback to help them grow. The community committee features Activity Leads, who are responsible for leading their designated activities and ensuring they get posted on time. All these ranks allow you to learn team management and communication, vital for a future career in the army or in real life as well.

You can gain crucial experience in community engagement, moderation, judging, reporting, and much more! It is a field that keeps expanding and allows you to always keep learning!
Leaving a lasting legacy
You can have the opportunity to leave a lasting impact within the community by maintaining a positive atmosphere and making changes remembered for generations that still influence the community long after you retire.
