Shreks of Club Penguin Saves the Swamps

On Saturday, May 9, the Shreks of Club Penguin hosted a charity event for Shrek’s 25th anniversary. Their charity of focus was organisations that focused on conserving wetlands. Let us further examine this charity event and its outcome.

The History of Charity Events in Club Penguin Armies

Charity events aren’t uncommon in the community. In 2021, the community saw Ice Warriors host a charity event for #TeamSeas, with then-leader Dr Queen helping with donations. The Rebel Penguin Federation contributed to the charity in 2021 with their Rebel Cash for Change.

The most recent Shreks of Club Penguin charity event is not the first charity event hosted by Vivala within the community. She also contributed to a charity event within Water Vikings, where she hosted a custom takeover for her rescue dog, Cooper. The final max would be the amount she donated to the local animal shelter from which she got Cooper.

Saving the Wetlands

On May first, Vivala announced within the Shreks discord server that she would be hosting a charity event in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Shrek movies. She announced she would be donating a dollar per penguin to swamp/wetland conservation organisations. Vivala spent the following week inviting various armies to this charitable event.

On the day of the event, the army saw a max of 17. Vivala ended up donating $68 to wetland conservation organisations. Additionally, Viv decided to change the initial amount from $1 to $2 and also had the help of various army members throughout the community.

Club Penguin Armies reached out to Vivala to get more insight on her charity event for Shrek’s.

What inspires you to host these charity events?

Well, I was thinking I wanted to do something important because Shrek is important. And I care about environmental causes and know that wetlands (like swamps, bogs and marshes) are important. I guess I was inspired by this being a unique and special event that I wanted to add a special cause and reason to it, which meant more. Sort of like with the WV Cooper event, where there is something deeper in the topic that’s really important and needs support

Do you plan on hosting any more charity events?

Yes! I got a lot of positive feedback from the event. It seems like a decent number of armies and people in the community really like to support good causes! Being Shrek-focused, of course, I mean, the possibilities are endless! World Gingerbread Day is June 5th, we could do something for world hunger in honour of “NOT THE GUMDROP BUTTONS!” gingy! Overall, it makes me happy in my unc age to see people loving Club Penguin as I do and have since I was a kid, and it’s awesome, it seems like there’s interest in having another charity event!

Would you like to add any concluding statements?

Yes. While I’d love to just paste all the lyrics to all-star Smash Mouth, my serious answer is that Shrek welcomes all, hopes to see everyone at future events, and I hope everyone celebrates the BIG 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF SHREK!

Vivala has a strong passion for giving back to the community and has a bigger passion for Shrek. There will be more charity-based events that the community will see from Vivala. How do you feel about Club Penguin Charity events? Do you see yourself doing something similar to Vivala?
