The Rise and Fall of S/M Giants

Over the last few years, we have noticed several prominent Small/Medium armies that shook the scene, made their names stand out the most, and most importantly, rose to the top. In today’s post, we will review a few of these armies and document their rise and downfalls in the community.

Pizza Federation

The Pizza Federation was a notorious Small/Medium army founded in April 2018. Its rise to infamy was anything but easy, as its origins were raised from rebellions and constant battles. PZF noticed many conflicts early in its career, partaking in wars such as The Great Pizza War against the Pizza Bros and World War VII against the Rebel Penguin Federation under the Red Dawn Alliance. The army also witnessed many accomplishments and is known widely for its success in S/M tournaments. Their trophy case includes the Fright or Fight, Beach Brawl, and Challengers Cup I tournaments in 2020. Although PZF never achieved major status, they held an unquestionably high status in the S/M community.

The army went through a series of leadership changes that changed the course of its future. Leaders like Lightningmcj, Hidcre, and Snork who were key individuals for its success unfortunately stepped down. New leaders stepped up such as McBruh and Kehato between late 2020 to early 2021, and ultimately the army started losing traction to the point of shutting down on 30th April 2021. A common view of why the PZF has fallen is that the army had already secured a historical status in the S/M community, as people were not as motivated to push the army due to the latter. This all led to the army transforming into a gaming server, and we have not seen any sight of them since.

People’s Imperial Confederation

One of the most recognized S/M armies still alive to this day is the People’s Imperial Confederation. Created in October 2019, the army would notice a very high uptick in activity in 2020. The Confederates are mostly known for the several wars they fought and won throughout the years. These wars shaped the army to be very combative in conflicts and showed their ability to withstand through the years. PIC were also known to move into major status not once, but twice. Their unwillingness to set limits for themselves resulted in many of their accomplishments and their position in S/M history.

As time went on, the Confederates found it more difficult to remain consistent in their performance. This was only so evident when they went on a complete hiatus in 2022, following a series of leadership changes and internal issues. The effects of the unfortunate ending had its course on the current fourth generation of PIC, as they aren’t as fierce as they were before. Despite this, PIC today continues to find success in various tournaments and partake in many wars. The current leadership consists of Scars and 54x, and while the road might be tough they continue to persevere.

Fire Warriors

The Fire Warriors are a less recognizable army compared to the two armies mentioned, however, they have had a massive reputation in the S/M community. Being created in 2007 by Wwe09, the army would see a massive rise in 2021. Fire Warriors weren’t exactly known for their wars, but rather the tournaments they participated in. The army’s early success was during its first round of March Madness against the Silver Empire. Despite losing, they managed to pull off an impressive 30+ max, something not a lot of S/M armies achieved at the time. Fire Warriors went on to win the Challengers Cup II and New Year Bonanza later on, carving a reputation for themselves.

The downfall of the Fire Warriors was significantly different, as internal conflicts were a huge factor in its divide. It’s safe to say the army had its fair share of ups and downs, however, it would ultimately make a return in 2021. Sadly this last generation wasn’t as sustainable, as hype and activity within the army slowly died down. Fire Warriors announced its final shutdown on February 28th, 2022.

FW’s closing event

The Small/Medium armies are without a doubt the backbone of the community and the future of armies entirely. Occasionally, we get to witness one stand out the most and achieve the impossible, through much work and dedication. Other armies not mentioned like the Winged Hussars created a competitive example for other S/M armies all around. However, sadly, not all great things last, as most of these armies go through unfortunate circumstances that result in their demise. Which S/M army do you think will stand out next? And which S/M army do you think will fall?
