Picture Perfect: Most Starred Messages In CPA

The Starboard in the Club Penguin Armies Discord has immortalised many messages throughout the years. By public reaction, anyone can make their way to this infamous channel by being funny, scandalous, noteworthy, or just completely random. In this edition of Picture Perfect, we will be exploring the channel to see the most starred messages of all time.

For those out of the loop, the Starboard is a staple in many Discord servers. Users who wish to send a message to the starboard will react to said message with the star emoji, and if five people do so, it will appear in a locked channel for all of CPA’s viewing pleasure. Of course, five is just the bare minimum. Penguins can continue showing support by reacting, and we have seen messages with as many as 72 reactions on it. So let us go through the messages and memes that CPA has enjoyed the most.

Recent additions to the Starboard

MEMES

The Memes channel on our server provides a way for community members to express themselves through images, gifs, and videos. Members not only use the channel to make light of the various happenings, but it has proven to be one of the fiercest battlefields. Many armies have used the channel to fire ammunition at their enemies, as we have seen during the Secret Service‘s recent conflicts. During the war between SS and the Templars of Club PenguinJoelFreak took to the channel to argue against a post made by his enemy. In his message, he provided context to an event picture TCP used to show SS as small while retaliating by sharing a photo of TCP’s size during their recent battle. With many taking sides in this polarising war, 26 people showed support for Joel’s message.

The Service was not done, sending several more images to the channel throughout the war and beyond, but one stood out to the community. On September 3, 32op posted not just an image, but a video, edited to promote their dominance against Templars. The video presented several messages against the Secret Service, followed by several victorious battle results. From their effective use of the medium, SS got the meme on the Starboard with 30 reactions.

Of course, memes do not have to be related to current army affairs to be funny. In fact, humour can come from the most bizarre places. At the beginning of September, Vivala posted an image to the memes channel that quickly gained traction with 26 reactions. The meme showed Winged Hussars leader Shinzo being welcomed to contribute to Wikipedia’s “List of War Crimes”, an opportunity he is shown embracing.

Sometimes a meme can summarise someone’s thoughts perfectly. Ugly posted this meme on July 1, calling out users AuroraSpottyBscharbach2Edu14463, and Fun X Time for frequently engaging in debates in the often-heated community chat. The community quickly jumped onto the format, spawning their own versions with words removed to their liking, but the original gained the most attention with 30 reactions.

Drama

When you think of what we associate with CPA, drama is one of the biggest things that comes to mind. For as many people who seek out positivity, there are as many people that relish in scandal and controversy. A back-and-forth between former People’s Imperial Confederation leader, Shalissa, and former Special Weapons and Tactics leader, Ganger90 in March spawned one of the most starred comments from the community chat. When Shalissa posted a screenshot of that week’s Top Ten Armies, showing that SWAT had ranked 12th to PIC’s 8th place, Ganger90 seemingly had enough, unleashing a paragraph of text that quickly entered the Starboard. The furious message has since gained 39 reactions.

War is one of the biggest fears of many army leaders. The threat of losing servers, the tension of trying to predict your opponent’s next move. It is always good to prepare for any occurrence, but the unexpected can happen. When PIC declared war on SWAT in April, some may have anticipated it, but not all. SWAT leader Fun X Time’s one word reaction was deemed entertaining enough for Starboard by 35 people.

It is not just drama between members that garners attention. On January 27, 2023, CPA’s administrative team released a statement following allegations that TCP had been multilogging. Their investigation initially involved 14 accounts associated with former leader Xing. The fact that it was a message posted by the admins certainly helped boost its reach, and it ended up getting a solid 30 stars.

Triumphs

On many occasions, CPA has come together to celebrate incredible achievements. In 2022, the annual tradition of Christmas Chaos XII took place, involving seven armies that fought tooth and nail to make it through to the next stages. It resulted in an intense final between the Rebel Penguin Federation, and the Templars, with the Rebels winning in overtime. Following their win, Club Penguin Army Judges held a battle review to ensure the results were correct, adding to the anticipation. Finally, CPA confirmed their victory, and the energy was evident as the announcement hit the Starboard with 35 reactions.

In January, CPA celebrated two armies’ achievements in the New Year Bonanza, a tournament where an army faced a new, unknown opponent in every room. With the tournament divided into Major and Small/Medium categories, this meant that there could be two winners. For the major side, the Army of Club Penguin had a difficult time but triumphed against RPF to win. Meanwhile, PIC sailed through each room, grabbing the victory each time, making themselves the tournament’s S/M Champion. Mchappy presented the victory to the two armies, including trophies designed by Master DS. These trophies amassed an incredible 59 stars, making this victory one of the brightest on the Starboard.

Of course, armies are not always locked in battle, and the community can come together to share something amazing. To celebrate the 2023 holiday season, former Help Force leader ROOBOO had the idea of a Christmas tree to which every army can contribute an ornament. By Christmas, Master DS‘s design had a mark from every army. It was a sincere display of community and solidarity on a special day. In acknowledgement of the gesture, members across the community made their support known by placing this post on the Starboard. It did not just receive five reactions, but 74, the most of any message in a truly heartwarming moment.

We can see that CPA loves utilising the Starboard, and we continue to see additions all the time. Which of the highlighted messages was your favourite? Will anything top the CPA Christmas Tree announcement?
