Welcome back to Behind The Scenes, the column where we delve into the day-to-day life of a community member. In this edition, we will explore the life of Rye Bread, a Community Committee member and a leader in the Water Vikings.

Rye Bread, also known as Ouigi, joined the army community in 2020. She was interested in a penguin advertising the Dark Warriors back in Club Penguin Online. Ascending in the ranks was only a matter of time for her, quickly becoming a high-ranking staff. Rye’s participation in guiding, recruiting, and even VC leading in the army truly solidified her position. Unfortunately, she had to retire from the Warriors in November of the same year.

However, her inactivity period was not long. Out of the major armies scenario, Rye became even more well-known throughout the community. She gained notoriety by playing key roles in several Small/Medium armies. This included leading the Special Weapons and Tactics and Penguins of Madagascar, as well as occupying a high command position in the Secret Service. This curriculum made Rye Bread one of the most well-known S/M figures in recent times.

In addition, the disbandment of POM after the April Ambush War put Rye’s career in another direction. She went off to join the Water Vikings as a Viking General (Second-in-Command). Despite the change of pace in matters of army sizes, her new journey was not one with a smooth pavement. When she took this position, the Vikings declared war against the Templars, in a conflict known as the Sluttpådawn War. 

Despite the loss, Rye kept her head straight because there was another storm waiting for them. Another war in succession happened, this time they were attacked by the Army of Club Penguin. This new dispute, known as the Forlosning War, was another chance for Ryebread to prove herself. Thus, they did not waste it and firmly guided the Vikings toward victory. Due to her contributions, she earned the title of Viking Commander in June 2024.

Although Rye’s life in armies has been very active, that does not mean she lacks a human side. Club Penguin Armies reached out to Rye Bread to discover more about what they do outside of Club Penguin.

What is your daily routine outside of Club Penguin Armies?

When I’m not online normally I’m at work, I work as a Barista and coffee is something I’ve really been enjoying, and I hope to expand my knowledge in coffee/tea.

What is your favorite beverage to make?

I enjoy making lattes, but I would say my favorite drink to make is an iced mocha with almond milk.

Do you have any hobbies outside of work?

When I have free time, I try to spend it outside! One of my hobbies is pressing flowers that I find when I’m walking, and making collages out of it. And of course I’m also planting flowers on Pikmin Bloom during this time. Also, I have a bunch of plants and they all have names and I love them all so much :3

I have recently started reading manga and I really enjoy it, right now I’m reading “The Summer Hikaru Died” and its sup-p-p-per good if you’re into thrillers. I hope to get to read some shonen in the future! Speaking of manga, I also enjoy anime and western animation shows. It’s truly an art form that is heavily underrated.

How does it feel to handle being an army leader alongside real-life responsibilities?

Sometimes its overwhelming, and sometimes I’m not able to attend events because of my work schedule, but that’s why I’m glad to have my coleaders Mei and Claire to back me up.

Although armies take a good chunk of our lives, that does not mean one cannot find a balance in between. It is with such enthusiasm that Rye shares their perspective on this dilemma. What do you think will be Rye’s next step? We, at Club Penguin Armies, wish Rye Bread all the best.
