Yesterday, the community nominees were finally announced, thus completing the awaited legends nominees list. With the candidates all set, the deliberations within the legends committee have already begun over the course of the week. Nonetheless, none of this would be possible without the presence of the Legends Committee Heads.

Previously presided by Mchappy, the Legends Committee has recently welcomed DMT as the new Head. Given Mchappy’s ascension to Chief Executive Producer in Club Penguin Armies, he decided to resign from his former position.

DMT is a 2019 Army Legend, former CPA and CPAHQ administrator, and also a former leader in Striking Raiders, Chaos, and most notably Army Republic. His commendable work in media and league administration were the main factors that led to his induction five years ago. Moreover, his unwavering dedication to serve the community undoubtedly contributed to his choice as a Committee Head.

Nevertheless, DMT is not alone. He is now working alongisde the already standing Committee Heads Iceyfeet1234 and Orange. Iceyfeet is a 2008 Army Legend. He is the creator of the historic Ice Warriorsleading his army for six years straight, only retiring in the summer of 2012. He is seen as the face of IW, leading the army to glorious standards and sizes. On the other hand, Orange is a 2016 Small/Medium Army Legend, therefore being the S/M Legend Manager this year. He is most known for his leadership stints in Chaos and Water Ninjas. Furthermore, his incredible experience on the field of S/M armies certainly warranted his induction.

In order to learn more about those proeminent figures and their roles within the Legends Committee, Club Penguin Armies reached out to them.

For those who may not know you, how would you describe yourself and your journey in CPA?

DMT: Not to sound so full of myself, but I’ve always considered myself a hard working and well spoken person, which is what sort of prompted me to all the avenues I’ve been down in my CP Army career. As an army leader, I was a dedicated recruiter and frequent extra-curricular runner (I always made a spinoff army news site for the armies I led- something like The Stale Nacho for those unfamiliar). That is what really led me to discovering my niche as a news/league administrator. I simply enjoyed writing and managing multiple components. But that became too taxing of a position as life went on. And that’s what led me to become an LC Head, which sort of feels like the final stop in army career? Time will tell.

Iceyfeet1234: I’ve been involved with armies for quite a long time, starting out in 2007 when I created the ice warriors, and through their revival during the cpps era of armies. ive seen a loooot of history over the years, friends come and go, and a lot of changes in the community. the different phases the community has been through over the years is quite remarkable, and its always interesting to look back at a random time in army history to see how different things were at that time

Orange: I first joined ACP back in 2012. I led a few armies pre disney closure, most notably being Chaos and Water Ninjas. After being away for years, I came back post COVID and had the oppurtunity to lead Chaos and Ice Warriors. Outside of armies I’ve been involved with various positions in many different leagues etc etc. I believe most people who have worked alongside me would consider me a fun person who messes around a lot. Overall I’ve had a long journey but defo a fun one.

If you could select one moment of your time in armies as your favorite, which would you choose?

DMT: This is a tough one now; my default answer is being selected by Burr and Vinny from the Army of the Republic to revive the legendary army alongside my friends Ace and Victory889. It was truly a dream come true moment and I loved the time spent as a leader of my favorite army. That’s probably still my favorite, but I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention all the months of building up CPAHQs administration. With our media-first focus, I had a whole different experience that I really cherished as it taught me new things to value- such as developing young media minds and tapping into their potential. The CPAHQ admin team was chock full of superstars and it was the first time where an organization I led didn’t feel entirely dependent on me to be around 24/7. That group will always be special to me.

Iceyfeet1234: honestly I dont even know if I could pick one, but I do have a few that stick out. 2007 was a totally different time, things werent as organized back then as they are today, but in my opinion the fighting/wars were much more fun since they were very unpredictable and you could basically hop onto mammoth and fight whoever you wanted, and conflicts erupted very sporadically. 2010-2011 was also quite a fun time as things started to change with cpac becoming the hub and tournaments were much more organized. id also say 2020 was a remarkable year, armies reaching monsterous peaks and evening filming up the lockout rooms during tournament finals/semi finals. the wars that took place were also pretty crazy with the amount of people from each army that participated, I remember divisions within armies were a lot more common since the sheer size of each army

Orange: It’s really hard to pick one so I’m gonna name three LOL. First would be in 2013 when Chaos defeated IW in the Legends Cup. This was important because I think this is really what put Chaos on the map as IW had won the past to LCs so having one of the biggest upset victories in history was amazing. Second would be when Chaos got 1st on the CPAC top ten. This is just because its so rare for S/M armies to ever get up there and the fact that we did it when so many major armies were still alive felt great. Last would be winning March Madness 2021 with IW just because it was the first major tournament I had won and it pretty much completed my career.

Which feats of yours do you believe warranted your induction as legend?

DMT: Well, considering my legend status is contentious among some people I better answer carefully! I was inducted predominantly for my efforts in 2019- alongside Greeny and Memmaw- by providing a home for armies not on Club Penguin Online. As previously mentioned, I took up a sort of spokesperson role in the organization and took charge of a lot of contentious moments. I ultimately feel, though, that my work in CPAHQ is a lot more indicative of my “legendary qualities”. Though we put a lot into CPA 2019, it was messy. It was a lot to dive into head on, and I feel I was much more prepared in 2021 to lead, which really shows in the legacy that each organization left behind. Also, put some respect on my time as an AR leader! We peaked at 2nd on CPAC in 2015 maxing sizes of 50, and I was the leader of the recruiting force utilizing an (albeit sussy) custom bot script. What can I say, they were all the rage at the time!

Iceyfeet1234: honestly after being around for so many years I dont know if I could pick any specifics, id say just the amount of tournaments/wars ive been involved in over the years, the amount of time being in the community as both a leader and an advisor, as well as creating the ice warriors, are a mix of feats that would warrant my induction as legend

Orange: I think being able to elevate S/M armies into the major terrority definitely warranted my induction. As Chaos and Water Ninja leader, we were able to score important victories over armies such as IW, LT, Pirates, RPF, etc. We won countless S/M tournaments and had decent major tournament runs as well. The other factor is bringing stability. From 2013-2015, Chaos was statistical ranked the number one S/M army. Being able to live as long as we did while also being so dominant in the S/M scene was unheard of at the time and it’s what cemented myself as well as the other leaders as legends.

Considering your previous answer, what do you think are the main criterion to induct someone as a Major (S/M) Legend?

DMT: There are three things I always like to highlight in our discussions. Consistency, command, and character. Above all else, I value someone who puts in the work and does it at a high level for a long time. We see one-year success stories all the time in armies, but one will know an individual is special if they continue to find success throughout their career. Thats why it’s extremely important to look at a candidates ENTIRE career. This will be telling of a persons command as well; people who stick around and build their careers out usually do so because they are a trusted voice wherever they are. If people around this person adhere to them- such as in an alliance or in a group leadership- that’s a great sign that they possess something that others don’t have. And lastly, I thinks it’s important our legends have good character! This is a special title we give people, and only people who represent the very best of the community should hold it. Of course, this is something subjective. So it is never the deciding factor. But an individuals reputation among their peers is always something to take into account.

Iceyfeet1234: I would say a mix of achievements in a major army (wars, tournaments, etc) as well as in the community, and the impact their army had on the community

Orange: I am looking for a leader who has elevated their S/M army to new heights as well as providing stability. For me it is important that someone can have a very high peak with that army as well as being consistent and stable. I think good examples would be in 2021 with SE and SWAT as well as 2020 with PZF.

Based on the discussions held in the committee so far, do you believe your expectations are being met?

DMT: I believe so, yes! We still have two more discussion slots left but talks have been productive. They’ll be more decisive as it gets closer to voting being open.

Iceyfeet1234: yes, although I do wish there was more community involvement in the process like previous years, but that is something that can be brought up at future discussions. ive been through many inductions over the years and I feel as though the army community as a whole should have a stronger voice in the process as it had in prior years

Orange: I think this year the discussions have been good. There are good candidates that have good arguments, it’ll definitely be interesting to see how the rest of it unfolds!

What advice would you give for those who aspire to become a legend some day?

DMT: Be yourself! Don’t make decisions in your army career that you think will get you legend. The recognition will come if you make decisions that you believe in. Work hard and stay dedicated. It’s not something you can cut corners on.

Iceyfeet1234: honestly id tell them not to stress about it too much. yes its a big feat to have and a title not many people have achieved over the years, but if you stress about it too much it definitely takes away the fun. people should be having fun leading their armies/participating in the community. coming up with new ideas (tournaments/competitions) and progressing the community and their army, make people stand out in my eyes.

Orange: Its interesting, I’ll give two tidbits of advice. First, I think it’s really important to have people you learn from. Its really hard to understand what it takes to run a successful army without being in a successful army yourself and seeing how the leaders impact the army. Every leader is different and best ones can take elements from different indivuduals and use it to their benefit. During my younger days, I was lucky to have learned from legends such as Mchappy, Funks, Vinny, Burr, and Iceyfeet. Second tip would be to never give up. It’s really hard to be perfect 100% and no matter what army you are in, there will always be ups and downs. The best leaders however don’t give up and can instill confidence within their army to help raise their performances.

From the answers provided by the Committee Heads, we can certainly expect them to conduct the induction process with utmost seriousness and professionalism. Those renowed army legends are undoubtedly suitable to preside over this prestigious board. Moreover, the community will soon gaze upon the new inductees. Who do you think will be awarded with the most legendary title?
