Help Force Hosts Charity Fundraiser

The end of 2023 saw Help Force set an example to the community, gathering together to raise money for charity. The charity-themed event saw them donate 1 US Dollar to charity for every penguin that logged on during their event.

On December 30th, Help Force hosted a fundraiser event where every penguin truly mattered. They announced that each penguin that logged on during their event would add 1 dollar to the charity fund. Thanks to their careful planning and the incredibly good cause, they were able to max 43 penguins. This meant that 43 dollars would be donated to the charities that members chose.

To allow community/army members to choose which organisation they would donate to, the army made use of the website ‘Share the Meal’. The website had information on the organisations that were asking for support. In total, there were 14 causes to choose from on the website. These included ‘Protect Filipinos From Climate Emergencies’, ‘Support Families in South Sudan Through Innovation’, and ‘Give Emergency Aid in Palestine’, among many others. Instead of donating the $43 to one organisation, they will be splitting the money evenly among those selected.

HF’s max size during the fundraiser

This is not the only time that Help Force has hosted a charity-focused event. In December 2022, the helpers hosted a ‘Sapphires for Change‘ event. Members had to attend events to earn ‘XMAS Sapphires’ and then use a bot command to donate them. The XMAS Sapphires donated went towards charity donations. Ultimately, they were able to raise 53 dollars worth of Sapphires. The money was then spread out between the charities they chose.

Help Force has proved, once again, that Christmas is the time for giving. While they may not have been able to match the amount they donated last year, they still maxed a large number of penguins in-game, enabling them to give money those who need it.

Club Penguin Armies reached out to Jo, one of HF’s commanders, to find out his thoughts on the charity fundraiser.

What inspired you to hold a fundraising event this year, near the New Year’s celebration?

We were inspired by the Sapphires for Change thing we did last year, where we all did bot commands and attended events to earn XMAS sapphires. Those XMAS sapphires then went towards a charity donation. This year, we wanted to do a similar thing but to have an event instead. We decided to host it at the same time as the Christmas Chaos finals in case we made it that far as to max as high as possible.

What were your expectations surrounding the event?

We expected to max highly as we had been hyping it all month long. We expected it to either be our highest max or 2023 or one of our highest maxes.

Would you call this event a success?

Definitely. I believe this was our second-highest max this year, our highest being 47 at the AUSIA Arena finals. If you don’t count tournament maxes, then this was our highest non-tournament max this year. We managed to max 43 and are currently voting on what charity to donate it to.

It seems like Sapphires For Change inspired the Help Force commanders to step up, once again, and do their best to raise money for charity. This fundraiser was not about HF or armies but about raising money for those who truly need it. While their max was one of the highest of the year for the army, outside of tournaments, the money raised meant a lot to them. Do you think other armies should host fundraiser events? What charity would you donate to?
