2025 In Viking Retrospect
The Water Vikings experienced a notably eventful year, beginning in January when they allied with the Aliens and then entered a lockdown. They returned in February and won the Candy Crusher Brawl trophy in the Small/Medium division. In March, the Vikings regained major status, signaling the start of their dominance throughout 2025. That same month, the army competed in March Madness XV but lost to their allies, the Rebel Penguin Federation. In April, the army inducted SavageCobra into leadership, while former leader Raven116 stepped down. Also in April, WV forged a new alliance with the Army of Club Penguin.
In May, longtime leader Claire retired, and the army competed in the Around the World Cup 2 tournament. Although the Vikings lost to the Aliens, they began to reach peak sizes during this period. June saw WV induct Escot into leadership and began preparing for the community’s largest tournament, Legends Cup XV. In July, the army competed in LCXV and, despite their loss to the Rebels, reached new heights, spending several weeks ranked #1 on the weekly Top Ten and reinforcing their renewed dominance within the community. In September, Cobra stepped down from leadership, and Mato stepped up. That month, the Vikings declared war on the Templars, captured Rome, and won in a single battle.

In October, the army faced a surprise declaration from the People’s Imperial Confederation. During this time, the army removed long-term leader Rye Bread following an internal scandal, and hostilities with PIC ended the next day. The Vikings also competed in the October Horrors tournament, advancing to the three-way finals against ACP and the Aliens. Despite an Alien victory, the Vikings continued to push forward. In November, the army inducted Lydia into leadership and participated in a fun Olympic-style event with their allies, the Clovers.
December was eventful as the army marked 15 years and reached the semifinals of Christmas Chaos XV, narrowly losing to the Aliens. 2025 truly highlighted how dominant the Vikings had become.

15 YEAR COMMEMORATIONS
Throughout December, the army did a number of things leading up to their anniversary event on December 28. Each week, the army hosted a flashback anniversary event, inviting leaders from each era to lead celebrations and recreate iconic event photos. WV held three lead-up events: 2010–2013, 2014–2016, and 2021–2022, and conducted interviews with former leaders to reflect on their memories and highlight how the army has evolved over the years.
On December 28, the army held its official anniversary event, celebrating 15 years since Jed Pen and Zakster merged their armies to create the Water Vikings. The event saw an astounding 56 troops online, allowing the army to truly be able to celebrate this momentous occasion.

Water Vikings 15th anniversary event
Club Penguin Armies reached out to WV leader Mato to learn more about their anniversary and preparations for it.
How did WV honor its anniversary throughout December?
We honored 15 years of Water Vikings by having an event every week to celebrate an era. We had interviews with the past leaders and even had them come up to lead their era event! All the anniversary events led up to our big celebration of fifteen years of fearing the wave on December 28th.
Do you feel like the army achieved everything they wanted?
Yes and no, we’ve achieved having a strong community that is proud to be a water viking, although it would’ve been nice to complement 15 years with a Christmas Chaos trophy 🙂
What can we expect to see from WV after 15 years of armyhood?
You can expect to see some more victories and another 15 years 🫡
Any further comments for the community?
Fear the Wave.
This year, and also this anniversary event, has certainly proved to be a huge success for the army. We will most definitely be watching to see if 2026 is just as eventful as this one was. What do you think? What do you believe is next for the Vikings?
