On January 26 2025, Bastille Vanguard leaders Aucraia and MayK announced their formal retirement from leadership. This comes unexpectedly following MayK’s recent promotion to leadership less than a month before.

Bastille Beginnings
On November 2, 2024, The Bastille Vanguard opened its doors. It was created by former Elite Guardians of Club Penguin members Vitorwin, Aucraia, and Seila and showed great promise just from its opening event. The army was headed by leaders Vitorwin and Aucracia and eventually MayK following her promotion to leader in December 2024. The army during this time also participated in Christmas Chaos XIV. They made it through to the quarter-finals, before being eliminated by the Rebel Penguin Federation.

On January 26, leader Aucraia posted an announcement in the Bastille Vanguard’s Discord server unexpectedly announcing not only his but also co-leader MayK’s retirement from the army. The army had just begun establishing itself on the CPA map and gaining prominence within the community, leading to sudden shock among the army’s discord upon hearing of the sudden retirement.

“It’s hard to say this, but let’s start.
Ever since I helped in founding TBV, I went through a lot of issues; from making decisions I regret, to letting myself think of doing things to myself no one should do, nor should they think of doing.
I love the community we built. I love you all as great friends. You are like a family, a home to me. But now it is time for me to bid farewell.
To start off, I don’t know how many of you truly know me. Hi, I’m Aucraia, you can call me Catself too. I’m am ordinary teenager who draws sometimes and makes masks. I have a YouTube channel where I post animations and videos related to my OCs, my interests, etc. I am diagnosed with autism and depression. Sometimes I am an idiot, but there’s people who like me for that. Pleased to meet you all.
Second, I want to make it very clear that I will probably never come back to TBV’s leadership. It is a very heavy weight I have to carry every single day. Being apart of CPA has never done me good, and I only found out when TBV started existing. It’s not that I don’t want to lead. I can’t anymore. You all are amazing, you all are nice people, this isn’t your fault.
TBV still has hope. I will leave this army, this community, and a lot more at the hands of Vitorwin.
MayK is also retiring. We are working on a project together, an SMP. Whoever wants to join or participate, DM me or her.

Club Penguin Armies reached out to Bastille Vanguard leader Aucraia to inquire about the sudden retirement and the future of the army.
How do you think the community will take the recent departures from leadership?
I don’t know and I do not care.
Do you believe that your and MayK’s retirements will leave a lasting effect on the army?
Definitely. While I think it was for the greater good, I believe TBV will take a while to recover once me and MayK truly step down.
Do you have faith that the army will be able to last with the now solo leadership?
I believe Vitorwin has potential, but I don’t think he can do this alone.
All in all, it is evident that The Bastille Vanguard has a huge role that will need to be filled following Aucraia and MayK’s departure. How will Vitorwin be able to manage as a solo leader? How will the Vanguard be able to continue its rise with its change in leadership? We do not yet know. However, we will certainly be keeping a close eye on this topic, to see where TBV go next.
