Best Of This Year’s April Fools Pranks

Armies take April Fools very seriously, making sure to prank their troops every year. This year is no different with armies pulling off hilarious tricks to prank the community.

Troops across several armies have been fooled by devious pranks. These pranks can be as simple as a fake ping on the server icon, but some armies took it a step further. For example, Elite Guardians transformed their server to be themed around their leader, Lass. The server name and icon were changed to match Lass’ profile, with their troops following suit. In his own words:

We transformed the entire server into Lasses. Everyone had my name and profile picture even including the server icon and server’s name.

The prank caused a lot of chaos and confusion, especially during their event.

Will the real Lass stand up?

When describing how the troops reacted to the server’s defacement, he said:

They laughed and were extremely confused during the event. We decided to change after the event due to the chaos it caused with multiple Lasses overlapping each other during the event. It was a pretty fun moment because I myself was not able to lead due to this circumstance.

On the other hand, Rebel Penguin Federation (RPF) plotted with their brother ally, the Water Vikings (WV), to fake several cases of troop stealing. They went to war with each other, having a single battle on April 1. Dino, the leader of the Water Vikings stated:

We “went to war” with our brother allies the Rebel Penguin Federation.

A fake out of the ages

Both armies left before the third room with the reason “April Fools,” making the battle invalid. The war caused some animosity between the troops of both armies, but once it was revealed to be a prank, they laughed it off.

They were upset at first but once they realized it was all a prank they are fine. A lot of WV have been hanging out in RPF since.

Alongside the war, the Rebels pulled off numerous small pranks that changed the server itself. Rebel leader, Gabegirl, explained that:

We did a couple of pranks this year, this included: hiding some channels; changing the server icon and banner; setting the server name as upside down; a lot of low level pranking. In the lead up to April Fools, though, we planned with Water Vikings to fake troop stealing, including one member of our High Command team, and two officers. This then culminated in a war, with the first battle set to take place on April Fools day.

RPF’s troops had a similar reaction to WV’s troops, both being confused as to why they were at war.

There was a mix of reactions, some entirely bought the whole thing with Water Vikings, others were a bit more skeptical. There weren’t many though who were 100% sure that it was just a joke though, which made it fun. As for the other pranks, a couple people commented on them, but since everyone was gearing up for a war I think it was largely seen as a bit of fun.

Templars (TCP) pulled a prank similar to Elite Guardians, rebranding their army to the Amogus Alliance. The alliance was formed by several army leaders in August of 2022.

AMONGUS

Templars leader, Nicky, explained the prank simply:

We rebranded to Among Us Army (AUA).

Some of the knights were gullible, falling for the prank, while others played along for fun.

Some troops took it seriously thinking that Templars was no more and now it’s the AUA, others played along with the joke.

Army of Club Penguin (ACP) took a stand against the harassment and prejudice they’ve suffered at the hands of the army community. As a result, they decided to declare war on all armies as part of their April Fools prank.

Strawhats did it first

Ugly, ACP’s leader, provided more detail into what pranks they pulled:

We pulled the classic fake ping icon on our server icon again and very funny banner, besides that I declared war on all armies and started the war by invading New York City (NYC). I’m sure the citizens of NYC would’ve been very happy about that information.

ACP’s troops found the fake ping very annoying while many others were fooled by the prank war.

A LOT were annoyed by the fake ping icon since it looked real (I fell for it too). For the declaration, a lot of course saw it as a joke, thankfully, but some still thought it was real to the point of direct messaging me to join back staff for the duration of the war.

Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) planned a very chaotic April Fools prank. Channels and roles were swapped around and renamed, and everyone was given the Commander in Chief role, causing a lot of confusion. Fun X Time, one of the real Commander in Chief, explained the prank in detail:

SWAT had an utterly amusing April Fools’ Day celebration! The official Discord server of SWAT equipped a beautiful ping avatar, dragging in more activity. The primary moment we enjoyed was when all visitors, and later all troops, received a faulty-hoisted Commander in Chief role. Has any Club Penguin army, or even a standard army in real life, ever had 9,000 commanders at once? Interestingly, we switched the contents of channels by putting the wrong channel names. We also changed their order. The developer of certain Discord bots in our server had indirectly assisted us by adding fun to the day, as they made changes to their commands. We also changed our server title to the one we had used on such a day in the past, “Simps with Awful Tactics!”

The pranks fooled many troops and visitors, with most people falling for at least one of the many pranks.

The day proved to be successful for the Corporation after looking at the hilarious number of people affected by the pranks. Visitors, too, failed to successfully catch most pranks.

Several other armies held smaller pranks to celebrate April Fools. Help Force created a channel called “The Return,” hinting at the return of their creator, Ayan. Alongside this, the helpers also added a fake ping to their server icon, which annoyed many helpers.

An example of a fake ping server icon

The Penguins of Madagascar played a similar prank, flipping their server icon.

All of these pranks are contained within a single army. What if someone had the power to pull a prank across all armies? Club Penguin Armies interviewed various leaders to inquire about what they would do in that situation.

Gabegirl, RPF leader: I’m not entirely sure to be honest, there’s a lot of possibility with that. Maybe organising some strange alliances, merges, or shut downs? Or perhaps have no armies host an event for the whole week to watch Top Ten try to work out what to post.

Nicky, TCP leader: Merge every single army into AUA.

Ugly, ACP leader: Revive Tree Cult and merge all armies to it for a mass unification.

Fun X Time, SWAT leader: I would love to announce in every army’s Discord server stating that the army has merged into SWAT, containing an invite link to SWAT. Perhaps, I would get them to enlist as an April Fools’ prank which they will not realize? Let us not make this a part of the intriguing art of troop stealing!

Dino, WV leader: All of them merge into WV.

The leaders have some interesting ideas for pranks. Merging all armies into one is a common theme among these. Perhaps some of you are a little too desperate for new recruits. If you had control of all armies, what prank would you pull?
