As February came to an end, the Elite Guardians updated their Hall da Fama (Hall of Fame) section, inducting two new individuals, Lass and Fitsuki, as Legends. Both of them have played a significant role in the army since its revival in May, last year.
On May 4th 2023, an event occurred that shocked the entire community. This event was the reopening of the Elite Guardians. On May 2nd the Guardians hinted towards its revival but very few outside of the army were prepared. Their reopening saw a max of 32 people on CPA Battleground attend to celebrate. Under the new leadership of Fitsuki, Lass, Joshep and Belga, the army was eager to get started.
Prior to its reopening, the Guardians had not been seen since 2020 so they had a lot of catching up to do. They took this challenge head-on. The Guardians soon went from their reopening to participating in many wars with varied results. They saw an opportunity and they took it. They also obtained major army status quickly after reviving. Yet, despite their varied successes, their time within the community has not been an easy one.
They went from wars with the likes of the BASEDment Demons to World War IX with most of the army community being involved. Following the World War, they continued to fight in multiple wars against familiar faces. Alongside all of the wars, they have not been free from controversy either as they have been put in the limelight many times for various reasons. Yet, despite all of this, the army continues to fight and is always in contention for the number one spot in the Top Tens. They have been a force to be reckoned with in the community, proving they are not easily beaten.
This does not just happen overnight, however. While the army had a big following in the past, reviving an army is not an easy feat. Maintaining it with numerous wars, drama and departures is even harder. Yet, the Guardians have come through each of the challenges that have been put in front of them thanks to their leadership and members of the army.
It is for all of their efforts in the army that Lass and Fitsuki have been inducted into the EGCP Hall of Fame. In an announcement by Edu, made on February 29th, it was announced that reforms within the Hall of Fame would take place. Before the reforms, the Hall of Fame saw individuals from its past generation recognised for their efforts. However, the new generation has already been through so much. Leaders have worked tirelessly for the good of the army. Therefore, it was time for them to induct new members into it.
Lass and Fitsuki have continued to lead since the Guardians’ reopening in 2023. They worked through the departure of both Belga and Joshep and remained unphased. In his announcement, Edu went on to talk about both Lass and Fitsuki and their induction:
The leadership duo, Fitsuki and Lass, have been outstanding since the beginning of the second generation of the Elite Guardians. Their work, their tireless dedication, and their bravery in facing obstacles and challenges are worthy of honor and merit. They have defeated enemies, rebuilt the army to its rightful status of domination and power, from which it should never have departed. Therefore, due to their magnificent work, the EGCP Consulate unanimously appointed them as EGCP Legends.
To find out their reactions and thoughts regarding their inductions, Club Penguin Armies interviewed Lass and Fitsuki.
What was your initial reaction when you found out that you had been inducted as a Legend in the army?
Fitsuki: To be honest, I wasn’t too surprised when I found out I was nominated as Legend. I was a little intrigued but I was confident that I would become a Legend when I got to know that the EGCP Hall of Fame would be updated by the Consulate. Anyway, the first feeling I had when I was nominated was tranquility knowing that my efforts as a leader were recognized by those I admired so much back when I was just a soldier.
Lass: I personally was shocked due to the circumstances. I was at home without internet and only mobile data, when Edu told me that I was inducted, genuinely thought he was joking. So I went and checked there to see what it was, and to my surprise it was true.
Can you tell us what being inducted as a Legend in this army means to you?
Fitsuki: I was nominated for EGCP Legend by the Legends of the first generation of the army, who led it in its golden age. Being nominated by these people, who inspired me and taught me a lot, means a lot to me. It means they recognize my work enough to make me one of them. For me, the most important recognition I could achieve in the community is from these people.
Lass: It means that the work I made has been recognized, it is personally more special since I don’t see the consulate as a rank in our army because most of them are lifelong friends of mine. Receiving that recognition from the ones I was under the leadership and who I look up to made me feel alive.
What do you think has personally kept you going on this journey? And, would you like to thank anyone who has helped you and been there for you throughout this journey?
Fitsuki: Since EGCP closed in 2020, I kept an idea in my head that I could have done more for the army, that I could have changed its ending that year if I tried even harder. So I wandered around some armies for a while to gain more experience and compensate for this feeling in an army that resembled the EGCP, but I realized that this was impossible, as EGCP is unique. When I received the offer to lead it, I accepted without thinking twice and tried as hard as I could every day to keep it where it was. Whenever I got discouraged, I remembered all this and didn’t let anything get me down, I just continued investing in EGCP. My efforts alone can move mountains, but leading a successful army requires moving more than mountains. I wouldn’t have been able to get this far if there wasn’t cooperation from the EGCP members. Therefore, I would like to thank every person who has ever logged in to EGCP, the staff, hcoms, and leaders who learned and worked alongside me since the reopening of EGCP and contributed to it becoming the power it is today. And an even more special thank you to the EGCP Consulate, who taught me almost everything I know and trusted me to continue the legacy they left.
Lass: Frankly, just insanity and brotherhood. To lead an army like EGCP you need to have some screws less, even better when the crazy people around you are all you get along with and would go to hell and back for and with their mates.
As one of the current leaders, what are your future plans for the army and what do you hope for the army to achieve?
Fitsuki: My biggest goal at EGCP is to return it to its golden age. It will be a difficult task, as times have changed since the apogee of the EGCP, but I truly believe that it will be possible with a lot of dedication and cooperation from the soldiers. We will dominate the future map, break our size record, and end our tournament drought with one we will be participating in for the first time this year. The Elite Guardians of CP will win March Madness IX.
Lass: The only thing that is lacking for us is a tournament win, which we are aiming for during this year.
What advice would you give to the people who are aspiring to hold the title of Legend within the army?
Fitsuki: If you aspire to become a Legend in your army, act like it. A leader will guide the army during his leadership, while a Legend will have achievements that will persist throughout the history of the army. Impact your generation and the generations that follow with the legacy you will leave. To do this, focus on what you are best at and dedicate yourself to being the best at it, paving a path for soldiers to follow. Be the greatest example you can be and make sacrifices. It will be necessary to sacrifice a lot if you truly want to leave a strong legacy and be seen as a Legend in your army.
Lass: Not only put in the work but leave your mark. Legends leave a peculiarity of them within their army, whether is from tactics, media, recruitment, geopolitics et cetera. Never be afraid to bet on your ideas and put them out of the paper, because they can be very fruitful.
While both of the leaders have different reactions to their inductions, they are both honoured to have achieved Legend. Yet, obtaining Legend status is not the end of their journey in the army. Both of them wish for much more, starting with winning the March Madness tournament. From there, only time will tell where the two will take the army. Will we see the Elite Guardians enter the golden age Fitsuki aims for? Will they go on to win the March Madness tournament? We, at Club Penguin Armies, wish both of these EGCP Legends the best of luck in their future.
