A dormant S/M Army Legend from the early Club Penguin Pirate Server era has reemerged. Following a three-year absence, SavageCobra will resume his career within the Elite Guardians, assuming the vacant seat left by the former leader.
Last Saturday, the Elite Guardians bid farewell to their 11th Leader, Belga, who served as one of the army’s emperors since its reopening on May 4th, 2023. Yesterday, Fitsuki, EGCP’s 12th Leader, formally appointed SavageCobra as the new Guardian leader to uphold the triumvirate structure within the army’s leadership. This was a surprising announcement, especially for the new generation of EGCP troops who may not know much about this figure beyond modest mentions by the veterans and his presence in the Hall of Fame. However, upon getting to know Cobra, his achievements, and his contributions within EGCP and the community, it becomes evident that he will be a significant addition to the Triumvirate of Leaders.
Cobra joined the army community in December 2013 by enlisting in the Rebel Penguin Federation. Nonetheless, his notorious impact started in 2017, after the game’s closure – the aurora of the CPPS era. Cobra would lead the Dark Knights’ Empire, proving to be a dedicated and tireless soldier. He led the army in many wars against the Romans and even his former army, the RPF. Because of his feats, he turned out to be a renowned figure in the Small/Medium scenario.
After the DKE suffered a merge with the Romans, Cobra would go on to lead the latter for a few months until the army’s closure in March 2018. Given his outstanding work, Cobra was declared the “Most Influential Leader of 2018” by Daily Small Medium Army News, after a public vote. After some brief stints in the Underground Mafias Army, Club Penguin Crew, and Templars, it was only in June of the same year that Cobra joined the Elite Guardians as a third-in-command and advisor.
Being of immense assistance in the fields of Diplomacy, Warfare, and Administration, his efforts aided in the establishment of the Red Dawn Alliance, founded by him, alongside Cookky2, Edu14463, and Templars’ Emperor Xing, as a formidable Anti-RPF alliance. Cobra led the alliance into World War VII, dismantling the Rebels’ monopoly. This would help solidify the Elite Guardians’ position as a superpower among armies at the time. Because of his doings in the community and in EGCP, SavageCobra was inducted as a 2018 Major Army Legend.
Cobra continued with EGCP throughout the year 2019. He emerged as one of the key figures within the army during the victorious Third Anti-Crusade War against the Templars. Additionally, he played a pivotal role in diplomacy efforts and made significant contributions to the army until its closure on January 27th, 2020. Due to his contributions, he ultimately attained the status of EGCP Legend. Notably, he became the first individual to receive this title whose native language is not Portuguese. After the army’s closure, he would go on to lead TCP and UMA before leaving the community for three years.
Now, SavegeCobra is taking the helm as the 15th Leader of the Elite Guardians. Moreover, he is the first English-speaking individual to reach this position. Furthermore, Cobra also returned to work within the Club Penguin Army Wiki as an administrator, highlighting his contributions to the community.
Club Penguin Armies reached out to Elite Guardians Leader Lass to get a statement on SavageCobra’s induction.
Cobra is the only logical choice for a sucessor at the moment, moreso, he is also a very dear individual for our new troops and veterans alike. I cannot think of no one that could be at my and Fitsuki’s side other than him, his experience is also another major factor that contributed to this choice. I was under the leadership of Cobra during 2018 and know I am honored to lead by his side, because he is an individual that inspires all of us, including myself. In short, the only thing we can expect is success, both for our army and Cobra’s career, due to his experiences (both in other armies and in EGCP) being put to use once again. The Elite Guardians wishes SavageCobra a warm welcome (or re-welcome) to his position as Leader.
We also sat down with Cobra himself for an interview, to understand his perspective and projects for the army.
What were your initial reactions to your induction as the 15th EGCP Leader?
Well, I was honored to have been offered the position. I was offered the position following Belga’s announcement to the leadership and advisory that he will be retiring, which has coincided with a lot of other retirements in the army, which has saw a minor down turn as of late. I took up the role because I figured I’d be able to help out the situation, and perhaps end my career off on a better note. Like always, it is a huge honor to be able to participate in the army that I built my legacy in.
What motivated you to come back as a leader? And why the Elite Guardians?
As I said in the first question, it was heavily influenced by the recent retirements in the army. Not only that, but nostalgia and the return and activity of many of my close friends from CPA (like Shinzo, Dino, Aaronstone, etc.) led me to make this decision more confidently than not. I chose the Elite Guardians, because well, that is where my legacy has been laid. This is THE army when many people think of me, and it is THE army that I had the honor to serve in for over a year.
Do you have any plans for the army or ideas you’d like to implement?
Upon studying various issues in our tournament and war performances previously, I’d like to solve our strategic and tactical problems that we currently face. This includes revamping our training programs, as well as trying to encourage a more positive and friendly environment in the army. Likewise, I’d like to add onto the already well-establish ID plans (because I am natively English speaking), as well as the Bushido plans that are there. Most importantly, I’d like to have an opportunity to try and repair the army’s reputation in the future, as it is clearly in shambles where it stands right now.
How is/was your relationship dynamic between current and former EGCP leaders?
Lass and Fitsuki are amazing leaders. They are very talented in their respective fields, and I think it will reduce a lot of weight in them to have someone oriented in diplomacy, war, and administrative principles come into the scene as a formal leader. We get along incredibly well, so I hope that this will contribute to future success.
With the former leaders, the dynamic was also amazing. Obviously, I’ve got to know and love the humble interviewer, Edu14463, as Cookky2. While I did not communicate a whole lot with BOBS, Dolly, Pedrox, and Victoria as much as them, I still worked quite in depth with everyone there, being one of EGCP’s main war strategists and diplomats during my tenure as acting-leader. The team we had at EGCP was a power-team, and that’s no exaggeration there. Hopefully this will continue forward.
Is there anything you’d like to say to EGCP troops and staff? And for the community members, who do not know you so much?
Glory in the eyes of the greater community only goes so far. Do what you can for your army, so you may bring your army to amazing feats. Dedication, pragmatism, and maybe a little nepotism (lol) will serve your career quite well in the long-run, as evidenced by the many leaders that have came along until this very day.
It is clear that Cobra is an experienced individual. Undoubtedly, his legendary legacy will continue to flourish within the Guardians, with the community left with high expectations. We, at Club Penguin Armies, wish SavageCobra a very good fresh new start in his career. What do YOU think? Do you believe that Cobra will bring some major changes to the Elite Guardians?
