The next 72 hours are expected to be very scary for the army community. The October Horrors tournament begins shortly, on October 24, with the SM qualifier battles taking place.

Friday October 24

The 13 participating armies are getting ready for the tournament. 2 Small Medium armies are facing each other on October 24 in the Qualifiers. Four Major armies will be fighting tomorrow, 25, in order to win the major division tournament trophy. On Sunday, 26, 8 SM armies will be battling for the SM division trophy. Last of all, the two trophy winners will face each other in a Super Cup battle on Monday, October 27.

Battle 2: Help Force vs. Water Vikings

This battle was an interesting one to watch. Both armies gave their best on the battlefield, but WV’s much larger size, 39 vs 24, which they utilized in their forms, made it impossible for HF to win. Despite Help Force’s efforts, the Water Vikings ended up winning all 3 rooms of the battle and secured a place in the major division Grand Finals.

Battle 3: Aliens vs. Army of Club Penguin

This battle was likely one of the closest in recent Club Penguin armies’ history. The armies sizes were closer this time, with Aliens reaching 45 and ACP 34. According to the judges’ summary, the armies performed equally, despite ACP being in a size disadvantage. The final verdict was 0-3-0, 0 rooms to the Aliens, 0 to the Army of Club Penguin and 3 ties. It is an infrequent result and shows how close the battle was. Due to the no overtime rule of the tournament, both armies move to the Grand Finals, which now become a 3-way battle.

Grand Finals

Battle 4: Aliens vs. Army of Club Penguin vs. Water Vikings

The 3-way final battle of the tournament was massive. In total, 135 users were simultaneously online in the game while it was in course, a fantastic feat in recent army history. This was the first three-way battle to be held in a tournament finals in recent years. Aliens brought the highest force, with 51 troops, followed by the Water Vikings, with 40+, and the Army of Club Penguin, with 36+. Amidst the chaos of the battle, the judges ruled that the Aliens were dominant in all rooms, with the Vikings posing a challenge in all of them. Due to the size advantage and tactical quality, the Aliens managed to sweep all rooms, winning the finals in a 3-0 fashion.

Quarter-Finals

Battle 5: Dark Warriors vs. Phantom Republic

Due to the Phantom Republic’s no-show, the Dark Warriors proceeded to the next round of the tournament.

Battle 6: Romans vs. Special Weapons and Tactics

The outcome of this match was, certainly, the most unexpected one. The Romans and Agents fought against each other in the AUSIA round of the tournament. According to the judges, SWAT managed to outperform the Romans in all three rooms, being consistent with tactics and actively doing formations. The Romans also showcased several moments of inactivity throughout the battle, which ultimately led to their loss. SWAT won 3-0 and moved to the next round.

Battle 7: Fire Vikings vs. Templars

In another 3-0 sweep, the Templars defeated their opponents, the Fire Vikings. From the score, we can see the battle was extremely dominated by the Templars, who showcased prowess in tactics, speed, and well-executed formations against FV.

Battle 8: Penguins of Agartha vs. People’s Imperial Confederation

Due to the Penguins of Agartha’s no-show, the People’s Imperial Confederation proceeded to the next round of the tournament.

Semi-Finals

9: Dark Warriors vs. Special Weapons and Tactics

This battle was another sweep, with DW winning 3-0 against SWAT. They managed to use their huge size advantage and kept a good pace, while having good forms and movements, thus winning the battle.

10: Templars vs. People’s Imperial Confederation

This battle was one of the most interesting ones. Most people would probably expect the Templars to win, as they have historically been a powerful army in tournaments. This was not the case this time, though. PIC managed to sweep and win all 3 rooms of the battle, utilizing their size, along with good formations, speed and completion.

Grand Finals

11: Dark Warriors vs. People’s Imperial Confederation

The SM grand finals was a battle that many were eager to watch. People were trying to guess who would be in it, but the guesses were sometimes far from reality. 2 strong SM armies faced each other in that battle, with DW eventually coming on the top, winning 2 rooms and tying one. It is notable that the sizes were 25DW 17PIC, so both were above the typical SM ones. According to the judges, DW was superior in formations, tactics and coverage in the first rooms, while they were equal in the last one.
PIC believed that the result was not correct so they reviewed the battle.

monday October 27

Super Cup

12: Aliens vs. Dark Warriors

The battle happened as it was scheduled, regardless of the ongoing review. If the SM finals get overturned, then there will be a new Super Cup battle between Aliens and PIC.

In this battle, though, the major army Aliens was able to defeat the SM Dark Warriors, winning all 3 rooms. Despite that, DW put up a good fight, making good formation choices and moving correctly when needed. The Aliens used their size very well so they were able to defeat DW in all three rooms.

CPAJ Review

At 5:52pm EST, Club Penguin Army Judges released an announcement regarding the review request. In this, they reveal that there was not enough justification provided by the judges when it came to the room 1 verdict. Upon reviewing it, they believed that room 1 should have been a tie. Thus, the new battle verdict was Tie-DW-Tie. Below, the full announcement is available.

Awards

Eventually, the Dark Warriors won the SM Division trophy, with the Aliens winning the Super Cup one. The final tournament announcement can be read below.
