Turtel Retires From Thunder Troops

Turtel retires from the Thunder Troops’ leadership unexpectedly. As he steps away from his position in Thunder Troops, we reflect on his journey and dive deeper into the reasons of why did Turtel retire. It should be noted that after his retirement, TT shut down.

Turtel’s History

Turtel, began his army career in Void troops on 2025, May 9, relatively new to the army scene. Antman, a notable figure within the Club Penguin community and Void Troops, had recruited him. Following his enlistment, he quickly climbed the ranks, even during the infamous defacement issue they were facing, and secured a well-respected 4th-in-command position in leadership on 12 July. He led his first event as hcom and continuously showed dedication to Void Troops.

Turtel’s First Hcom-Led Event

On October 12, Void Troops announced the retirement of Logical, and although he could not attend his own event, VT celebrated their retired leader’s successes as he reshaped Void Troops into the way that it is today. Post-event, Zekrome was honoured to be the 7th inductee to their leadership and Turtel was promoted to second in command.

Thunder troop’s History

The Thunder Troops, reborn on October 7 2025, by Turtle, xdemon, AB and TinyGuy. AB and TinyGuy had began their journey in Templars, however due to some mistreatment, they switched to Help Force, and then came the idea of revamping an old army, TT. The army had been originally created by Jack in 2011, and didn’t reach great heights as it had remained in the shadows. One of the only leaders, Antman, agreed to let them revive it. Ever since they had their opening event, they have enacted its first alliance with the Romans.

However, Turtel retired from TT as he has been taking up further responsibilities for Void Troops. Shortly after his departure, TT merged into the Phantom Republic of Club Penguin, an army founded in 2024. It had abruptly shut down after the surrender of the Spectral Siege. More details regarding their closure can be found in this post. The army reopened again, on October 13, as soon as TT merged into it. More details about the Thunder Troops shutdown can be found in this post.

Thunder Troops announce shutdown

To gain further insight, Club Penguin Armies reached out, but Turtel had no further comment about his retirement.

Turtel’s devotion to Void Troops may be a reason as to why he left Thunder Troops and it appears that the army may be rebuilding, but just as a different army, Phantom Republic. Their future as a major army still seems not so far off. What do you think may have happened? Has Turtle’s leaving impacted the army? Would Thunder Troops remain active if Turtel had not left?
