Editorial: Club Penguin Armies Most Controversial Armies

Controversy is intertwined with Club Penguin Armies, especially in the hyper-politicised modern community that currently exists. Today, I will be going over some of the most controversial modern armies.

Defining controversy

The Cambridge Dictionary defines controversy as “a lot of disagreement or argument about something, usually because it affects or is important to many people”. Arguments and disagreements are commonplace in modern armies, which is evident even through looking at Main Chat. Each day, there are several arguments in the Club Penguin Armies Discord, ranging from minor differences to major conflicts.

However, to the modern CPA community, the word controversy usually signals a vile, egregious action that has sparked sheer outrage. We now exist in such a polarised state where controversies can haunt the community for months due to constant arguments, which is surprising considering the “segregated” nature that the armed forces are adopting.

Vicious Vikings

When discussing controversy and modern armies, the Dark Vikings cannot go without mention. During March Madness VIII, the Vikings came into a spell of controversy due to the inappropriate tactics they used. This resulted in the army being disqualified from the tournament and facing a Top Ten multiplier; however, this was only the beginning.

Following this, in a battle against the People’s Imperial Confederation in June, the Vikings used inappropriate tactics. This time, however, they used offensive tactics directly aimed at members of PIC. Again, this led to a Top Ten dedication, but also led to their Club Penguin Army Battlegrounds accounts being deactivated.

From here, the Vikings were on thin ice, and that ice eventually crumbled under them during Legends Cup XIII. During this tournament, DV leaders Krosive and Thunder222 once again broke the rules by ban evading on CPAB and continuing to use insensitive tactics. As a result of their actions, the Dark Vikings were removed from the Legend Cup, and the Administration released a statement, vowing to never invite DV back for any official tournaments. This remains true to this day.

DV’s actions also led to a new rule being instated for Club Penguin Armies as a whole, in which those banned from CPA Battleground are not permitted to lead in any form for any army.

Despicable Doritos

Context

The Doritos are one of the most historic armies of all time, and with a legacy always comes controversy. However, their most recent generation, which entered the community in November 2024, could be regarded as one of the most controversial armies of all time. As a result of this generation of DCP, we saw multiple Administrative Statements, as well as new rules being implemented.

Even from the conception of this new generation, the army was shrouded in controversy. Following a mass exodus from the Secret Service, many wondered what had led the leaders to want to transfer the army. However, only a few months after returning, the Doritos would be involved in one of the largest controversies of modern armies.

ACP-DCP Conflict and Subsequent Drama

On February 17, the Doritos suffered a force treaty from the Army of Club Penguin, with whom they had been engaged in a war. This war met an anticlimactic end, as a DCP troop had been spreading an ADP troop’s face without their consent. This violated a war term and CPA’s rules on doxxing, resulting in severe punishment. Furthermore, this would only be the beginning of DCP’s issues, as they continued their malicious practices further.

Only hours following the war’s end, the Administration of Club Penguin Armies released a statement. Following the force treaty, a Doritos legacy leader and legend, 32op, fabricated screenshots to implicate CPA Admin Mare of doxxing. The Doritos blatantly attempted to manipulate the Administration into ignoring their actions, eventually leading to an Administrative Statement.

Following Controversy

However, evidently, the Doritos would not learn their lesson, as only a few months later, there were further instances of doxxing. This, alongside accusations made against the Doritos “mob”, led to a new set of rules being implemented.

Modern armies are no strangers to controversy, and hopefully, today has brought some further insight into some of the most destructive events of the recent past. What are your thoughts on these controversies? Were the punishments too severe, or not severe enough? How would you have handled these issues?
