Army History

The Romans are one of the oldest armies in the community, originally founded in 2006 by Explorer7777. Known for their early prominence during the original Club Penguin era, the Romans maintained influence through multiple revivals. Though often categorized as a small or medium army in modern times, their legacy remains tied to their long-standing history and ability to reemerge in different generations of warfare.

The Special Weapons and Tactics were founded in 2009 by Ganger90. SWAT rose to prominence during the late 2000s and early 2010s, often positioning itself as a strong major contender. The army has gone through several generations, experiencing both dominant eras and shutdowns, yet it continues to reestablish itself in the community.

Romans VS SWAT

On September 7, Romans launched their war campaign against SWAT. The Romans’ declaration specifies this is an off-map, one-on-one war between the Romans and SWAT, with no allies or visitors permitted. Dual enlistments are allowed, but mergers with other armies are forbidden during the conflict. This war is the first major clash between the two in recent memory. For the Romans, this marks another bold step in their recent resurgence, while SWAT faces yet another test of resilience. With strict one-on-one terms and the war ending after five successful invasions, every battle will play a crucial role in deciding which army asserts dominance.

Romans VS SWAT Declaration

Romans declares on SWAT

Club Penguin Armies reached out to both the Romans and SWAT leadership to understand the motives and expectations behind this declaration.

ROMANS INTERVIEW

What motivated the Romans to declare war on SWAT at this time?

Zaidmai: There are multiple different motivations behind our declaration. Firstly, we believe that an off-map war would continue to develop our battle experience for future wars and tournaments. On the other hand, we feel that SWAT’s behavior during Summer Blitz and their attempted freeland invasion of Rome to stick it to us is a fine enough justification in itself for a casual off-map war.

How do you believe this war will affect the current standing of the Romans in the wider community?

Zaidmai: SWAT in their SMAL interview has claimed that we are bottom-feeding by warring them. At this point, it is a rite of passage for every S/M army to war SWAT. I don’t think this war will make or break our standing in the wider community.

Are there any particular goals beyond the outlined terms that you want to achieve in this war?

Zaidmai: As this is an off-map war, there isn’t really a geopolitical motive behind the war. I do think with CPA Summit 2025 occurring during the war, we may see an interesting transition into the implemented changes as the war comes to an end.

Is there anything you’d like to say to the SWAT leaders?

Zaidmai: SWAT, despite their low maxes and consistent failure to our invasions, are very persistent and I commend them for trying to make this as annoying as possible for us. Other than that, I think William’s a good guy and I don’t harbor any ill towards him or any other members of SWAT.

SWAT INTERVIEW

What was your initial reaction to the Romans’ war declaration?

WilliamW2010: Shock, thought they were better than bottomfeeding.

How are you preparing your army to face this conflict?

WilliamW2010: I’m taking this stuff real now. I am ensuring everyone recruits and asking my staff why they didn’t attend after every event. I am not letting this bottomfeeding slide.

In your view, what does this war represent for SWAT’s future in the community?

WilliamW2010:  Either we clutch the victory, come close to victory, or we lose and prove something about the Romans by being crushed.

Do you believe this conflict will escalate further?

WilliamW2010: There is definitely a risk. But then we should be prepared, I would like to thank the Romans for giving us free training with a judge to describe in detail what we did wrong.

Both sides enter this war with clear but contrasting goals: the Romans seeking growth and experience, and SWAT determined to push back against criticism. With five invasions set to decide the victor, the war will challenge each army’s persistence and ability to adapt. Will the Romans’ resurgence carry them through, or will SWAT rise to the occasion and defy expectations?
