Sailing Through History

On December 28, 2010, a merger between the Masked Vikings and the Water Troops occurred. The newly formed army was named Water Vikings. Led by Jen Pen and Zakster, they saw maxes the two previous armies had never experienced before. In 2020 the army returned, with Golden Guardians rebranding into the Water Vikings. Following the army’s entry into the Club Penguin Private Server era they have proven themselves to be a powerful force. One of their most notable accomplishments was their victory in Christmas Chaos XIII, in 2023. This would be their first major tournament win in the army’s history. Alongside this, the army has also produced several Army Legends, such as Aaronstone in 2022.

Rough waves

In 2024, the Vikings started the year strong. They ended up getting their first-ever win in the March Madness IX, where they fought against the Rebel Penguin Federation. On April 7, the Vikings declared war against the Templars in the Sluttpådawn War. Unfortunately for WV, they lost the war with a score of 15-0-5 [W-T-L] TCP. But their determination continued to shine. After their war with TCP, the army had to bounce back and focus on the Forlosing War, which was declared by the Army of Club Penguin. Water Vikings won this war with a score of 12-1-1 [W-T-L].

During the middle of the year, the Vikings faced several setbacks. This included Dino stepping away on June 8, alongside Cabin‘s retirement. They also lost their Major army status. Alongside this, their Legends Cup XIV run was cut short, losing early on to ACP. As a result of these occurrences, the Water Vikings went into lockdown with hopes of rebuilding back better and stronger.

All hands on deck

The lockdown lasted for about three weeks with WV reopening their doors by hosting their Olympics events. These celebrations allowed the army to return to the Top Ten. A couple of months later, the army also regained its Major army status shortly after introducing Raven as a new leader. Due to their newfound strength, WV declared war upon Special Weapons and Tactics in the third Eagre Foray war. This war was rather brief, however, ending after three SWAT no-shows in a row.

Unfortunately in recent weeks, the Water Vikings have suffered from a decline in activity. This has led them to fall back to Small-Medium status once again. In December, their events typically reached around 20 penguins, with a notable exception being their 14th-anniversary celebration, which saw an impressive turnout of 57 penguins. Another potential factor for the loss of activity is due to WV not participating in Christmas Chaos XIV. This is one of the largest tournaments of the year, and heavily boosts activity.

Charting a New Course

As of January 5, 2025, the Water Vikings made an announcement to their community regarding a new lockdown of the army. The Vikings will be entering a temporary lockdown for the next two to three weeks. Advisor Aaronstone outlined the reasons behind this decision in an official statement, citing the need to “get the Water Vikings BACK to where it has to be and where YOU deserve to be.”

During this transformative period, the Vikings aim to introduce innovative elements and strengthen their internal team. According to Aaronstone, the leadership intends to implement “a TON of new aspects and fun stuff” to enhance the community experience. The announcement also highlighted plans to bring in fresh leadership, signaling a significant shakeup in the High Command. Regular events and activities will continue to foster engagement, but the primary focus will shift toward structural and strategic improvements.
