On December 14 and 15, two battles took place in the Christmas Chaos Semi-Finals, featuring four powerful armies. Aliens fought against the Rebel Penguin Federation, and the Army of Club Penguin took on the Doritos of Club Penguin. Club Penguin Armies contacted some community members to discover their thoughts about these fierce battles.
Christmas Chaos is a long-standing tradition within the army community; currently, we are on the fourteenth edition (XIV) of the historic tournament. It is a chance for army leaders to show off the sheer might of their armies and for smaller armies to show the Club Penguin army community that they are more than just a meme or a group of rogues, often shocking the community. Additionally, it provides armies and their leaders to shine on the brightest stage of them all, during one of the most anticipated tournaments of the year.
Christmas Chaos XIV Semi-Finals Recap
The first battle of the weekend took place between Aliens and Rebel Penguin Federation on Saturday, December 14. This matchup shocked many within the community as the Aliens’ place in the Semi-Final was far from guaranteed having been pitted against the Templars in the previous round. However, their triumphant victory made the battle between RPF and Aliens even more intense as they soon became the underdogs of the tournament.
Despite Aliens becoming the underdogs, four out of five people predicted the Rebels to win this battle. Even with the predictions in the Rebels’ favour, Aliens proved to be a different challenge for the mighty Federation. During the first room, Aliens were wiped out by the Federation’s large size advantage (51-37 RPF) and clean forms/tactics. Yet, they managed to overcome this in the second room as their hunger fuelled them, helping them to combat the Federation’s tactical strengths. However, they could only manage to achieve a tie in this room.
The third room was all to play for, a win for the Federation would see them go through to the finals, whereas, for Aliens it could gain them a chance to win an overtime room. Despite the Aliens’ hunger, RPF came in ready to expose Aliens’ weaknesses and prove they were the dominant army. While slightly increasing their size advantage, they managed to overpower the Aliens, exposing gaps in their forms and taking full advantage. This helped them to gain the win, securing their place in the Grand Finals.
The second battle of the tournament occurred on Sunday, December 15 between long-time rivals Army of Club Penguin and Doritos of Club Penguin. Ultimately, this battle was set to be the closest of the weekend, if not the entire tournament. When trying to predict the outcome, community members were torn between the two. Three out of five community members predicted the Doritos would come out on top in this fierce battle. But, the outcome was even closer than anyone could have predicted.
The first room saw both armies enter with relatively close sizes. However, this soon changed as DCP extended the size gap between the two (66-47). Despite having the advantage, DCP could not capitalise on the moment as both armies were seen to have questionable formations and AFK troops. Ultimately, a winner could not be decided, the verdict for this room was a tie.
After seeing their performance in room one, both armies stepped it up a notch in the second room despite the gap between the armies’ sizes closing. It is clear to see that the tournament means a lot to both the armies involved. Both continued to fight and improve throughout the room. However, neither could gain a clear advantage, meaning another tie was decided. All was to play for in room three as either army could win or lose in this room alone. With the ticket to the Grand Finals on the line, both armies used different strategies to win. Yet, it was the Doritos who achieved the victory with better-executed formations and the tactical advantage.
The victories mean that the Doritos will take on RPF in the Grand Finals of Christmas Chaos XIV. But what did the community think of these battles? Following these victories, Club Penguin Armies reached out to some community members for their predictions.
Edu14463, Editor-in-Chief: I think this round was the most exciting one so far. I am required to judge Aliens-RPF and I must say I was very impressed with Aliens’ performance, even tying a room with the Rebels with a 15+ size disadvantage. I think the community underestimated how far the Aliens would reach, but they are indeed a force to be reckoned with. As for ACP-DCP, it is needless to say that this was most probably the best battle of the year. Both armies gave their absolute best and brought astounding sizes, but DCP ultimately made the most of their sizes and defeated the Clovers in a close match. I am very satisfied with this round, amazing clashes to watch
15ap, People’s Imperial Confederation Leader: I think the semis were very entertaining! To seeing a rivalry that most are familiar with battle it out and Aliens put up a good fight against one of the best with RPF, the matchups were great! Though both my predictions were wrong, I think the battles were very fun. All in all, I think all sides did great and I’m excited to see the finals!
Mare, Chief Executive Producer: Thought the battles would be challenging and close and they all were. All armies performed very well and they should all be proud of their hard work and achievement of coming along this far. Congratulations RPF and DCP for moving forward to the Grand Finals. Everyone’s looking forward to watching it, cheers!
Fun X Time, Special Weapons And Tactics Commander: For the DCP-ACP battle, I would like to congratulate the Doritos for winning over the Army of Club Penguin in a very close battle. The Doritos fascinated me with their effort, especially reaching almost 400 reactions before the event’s commencement. Well done to ACP as well. If ACP leaders had decided to put more effort, they might have done better.
For the Aliens-RPF battle, I would like to congratulate the Rebels for their performance. The Aliens and the Rebels together put up an excellent fight. Both sides were strong, and both armies put a good amount of effort into their battle. The Aliens also did an outstanding job tying a room.
Aucraia, The Bastille Vanguard Leader: I wasn’t there to watch them, but I believe the close battles are thrilling.
Agent Yellow Typer, Fire Vikings Leader: Well I was sure the RPF was gonna take the win against Aliens because they are a tough army, but I also predicted that ACP would win because all though DCP is one of the greatest armies out there, ACP has better tactics and they can get in formation quicker. I feel like DCP won because in the last room, 32op took over with leading and lead the army to victory. If Logical was still leading in the final room, ACP would’ve probably had the victory.
Caracal Cat, Templars of Club Penguin Leader: DCP and ACP was a great battle, even though there were a ton of afks, both sides had a very good chance to win. RPF and aliens wasnt really surprising in my opinion i already knew RPF was going to win.
With the Semi-Finals completed, the Grand Finals are just around the corner. The Doritos of Club Penguin will come face-to-face with the Rebel Penguin Federation in a clash for the ages. With that being said, what did you think about the Semi-Finals? Did you predict these armies would book their ticket to the next round? Who do you think will come out on top as the winner of the Christmas Chaos XIV?
