Just a few days after the announcement of the Water Vikings lockdown lifted, the army made another significant announcement on August 10 regarding removing one of their leaders, Mei. Let’s delve deeper into the circumstances surrounding this decision and explore what led to Mei’s removal.
On July 15, 2024, the Water Vikings publicly announced that they were going on hiatus. Several issues may have contributed to this decision, including changes in leadership and the loss of Major status. The army’s leaders decided to go into lockdown to improve internally and foster growth before rejoining the army community.
Just over a week after their lockdown began, on August 1, Vikings Leader, Claire, announced the Vikings would end their hiatus. In her announcement, Claire revealed they would lift the lockdown on Monday, August 5, to host an Olympics Week packed with various activities.
announcement of removal
Most recently, on August 10, former WV leader, Aaronstone announced shocking news that would change the army forever. This news involved the Water Vikings executive decision to remove, Mei, from their leadership.
The media release from the Vikings detailed how the High Council of Vikings conducted a lengthy misconduct investigation involving Viking Commander Mei. The release highlighted the High Council’s deep concern over their findings. Another reason for the decision was the High Council’s belief that Mei lacked transparency in her communications with the High Council and other Viking leaders. The High Council removed Mei from Viking leadership due to these reasons and other undisclosed misconducts.
Club Penguin Armies decided to obtain statements from Mei, Viking High Council, Aaronstone, and Viking leader Claire regarding the removal.
Aaronstone, High Council of Vikings: Basically we collectively felt like this was the right move to make for both Mei and WV as a whole. It wasnt an easy decision to make as Mei has been in Water Vikings for a very long time but sometimes you have to put the army above everything else such as friendships, accomplishments etc. This was one of those situations and we believe it was the correct move in the end. We wish nothing but the best for Mei and her future in armies.
Mei, Associate Editor: I think that this could’ve ended differently. I admit that I have made mistakes as a commander but me wanting to leave WV in near future was known to at least a part of higher-ups for a bit now. Sure, I might have not been sure about it for a long time and was changing my mind but that was because I was hoping to regain my motivation and joy. I wanted to be transparent with all of them by telling them about my future plans. There was no harm intended. Right now I’m just happy that it’s over. I like where I am now and hopefully I can find the joy in being involved in armies once again.
Claire, Water Viking Leader: That was sadly the best decision for the Water Vikings, it was very difficult to do it and we do wish only and truly the best for Mei and her future in armies. As leaders and HCOV we had to think for the best sake of the army above anything cause that’s what we need to do. Again, we have no will to harm her either her future in armies, but it was the right move for everyone.
The decision of Mei’s departure from the Vikings was definitely not an easy one, as Claire and Aaronstone expressed. Despite the removal, both Viking members wish Mei well and continue to support her future in armies. We would like to wish Mei all the best in her future endeavors within armies. Her contributions to the Vikings will be remembered, and we hope to see her achieve great things ahead. What are your thoughts on the Vikings choosing to remove Mei from leadership?
