In the long history of the army community, armies often drew inspiration from pop culture or video game elements to theme their community. For instance, some armies like the One Direction Army, which the name suggests, are based on the popular boy band group One Direction.

Other armies also made use of pop culture elements to theme their armies, such as the Star Wars Army, and the Cheetos. Although not named after franchises, many armies made use of similar elements in their uniforms and concepts.

Moreover, video games have played a huge role in shaping our lives and childhoods, offering us countless hours of fun, adventure, and learning. They have sparked our imaginations with magical worlds, and let us build anything we could dream of – just like in Minecraft for example.

These games did not just entertain us, they taught us how to solve problems, work together, and think creatively. You can even see people’s personalities through the games they love. Someone who enjoys planning and strategy might be a big fan of Civilization, while those who live for excitement and action might prefer Call of Duty. These game preferences show just how diverse and unique we all are. Therefore, it is also possible to match franchises and armies, given their characteristics may be very well connected.

Civilization VI, a famous strategy game

Club Penguin Armies reached out to several individuals to learn how they would classify their army as a video game franchise.

Which video game franchise suits your army the most?

Ryebread, WV Leader: I would say the best game that suits the Vikings has to be God of War. Firstly, the theme is spot on. The games story is based off of Norse Mythology, as the main character is the next generation of Zeus. Water Vikings also uses Norse Mythology as a way to express our Vikingness, and its also the theme for our graphics and such.

Alucard, PIC Leader: I would compare us to Danganronpa because we are always trying to kill each other 😭

Ninja Leader, DP Creator & Leader: ARGGG!! Given that the majority of our fellow pirates play it and that we host regular game nights and other events centred around it, Minecraft will be the greatest video game franchise for my army.

Roxy, ACP Leader: I think Pokémon suits ACP really well, considering it s one of the old video games, it has generations of ups and downs and yet it has a loyal fanbase (vets). It has a long history, and is also the best selling franchise in history. It’s also a very innovating game and changes things (like mega Pokémon, z moves, terrastilization) while keeping the general idea of Pokemon. The game itself has a “catch them all” mentality and does not bow down to mediocrity.

Zomb, TCP HCOM: We are definitely fit for the RPG Franchise. As our theme revolves around building our own Templar empire and crushing our enemies with strategy and grace, I believe that our army as a medieval/fantasy RPG is quite fitting.

Zenishira, POF Creator & Leader: Okay, for the record, POF is “The Legend of Zelda” because Link is green and has a bow, POF is green and they have bows.

Edu14463, Associate Editor & EGCP Leader: I believe the Elite Guardians resemble a mix of the Hitman and Hearts of Iron franchises. Hitman because of the aesthetic of a man in a suit doing nothing but shady business. And Hearts of Iron because it’s a strategy game in which you have to invade and conquer land across the world – and that’s pretty much what we always end up doing, haha.

Zooy, SWAT HCOM: I would say SWAT would be most similar to a game called **Club Penguin**. They share strikingly similar features, such as having penguins and clubs, and Club Penguin is also a long-standing game that has had a legacy spanning ages!

Diwix, HF HCOM: Club penguin because we’re a club penguin army, spreading love and joy in the community!

JoelFreak, Squids: Club penguin, because we are club penguin armies

Nicoolas01, WH Leader: WH’s Video game Franchise is Grand Strategy as The Winged Hussar have a very special organisation inside of their army, In fact, our ranking system is very similar to the military with 1 emperor, 2 leader, their government and advisors, We also have voivodeships, assigning some active and high ranked members to part of our territory on the CPA map. Moreover, Our army is the most active during war time, Those are the time we reach the best max per events. Our tactics and formations are also very quick and organised compared to most armies, Making our army look strong and Strategic.

Alfie, RPF: Cult of the Lamb. Tempted to say this cus of friendly community that helps each other and theres also a battle aspect that could be seen as similar to the battle between other armies

Bestpenguin, Aliens Leader: Minecraft would likely appeal to aliens because it emphasizes creativity and fun and we do have out of the box events.

It is undoubtedly interesting to learn about these facts and get to know these armies better. If you had an army, which video game franchise would you base your army on? Which army was the most well-represented in the interview?
