Christmas Crusade comes to an end

wednesday, january 17

3:13am EST: United Front Alliance leaders met with the league regarding what they deemed toxic tactics performed by the Elite Guardians. After a one day stall in discussion, the People’s Imperial Confederation endorsed a message from their President, Rowan Alden, expressing disappointment in the league’s decision to invoke a final ultimatum to the Elite Guardians. For those seeking clarification, the ultimatum is a promise to the Elite Guardian leadership that warnings will no longer be handed out. Instead, we will deal with the matter similarly to past events the league has had to oversee: including but not limited to future participation in community events and tournaments. Since then, no battle has been scheduled and it is unsure if the two sides plan to create an armistice.

The administration would like to take this time to address the situation. Firstly, the administration performed its usual due diligence of reaching out to third parties to give their opinion on the tactics, including doing our best to look to past precedent. It was brought up by the Water Vikings that a past precedent from 2020 regarding the use of the word “hang” in a tactic exists; however, this incident occurred years past before the current administration’s reign and league, so we were unaware of its existence. We do believe that the context of the Elite Guardians’ tactic is relevant, regardless of the subjective discourse surrounding its taste level.

Additionally, there are examples of the current administration doing its best to address toxicity ranging from Dark Vikings to even former Elite Guardian tactics. We will continue to commit ourselves to providing transparency the best we can. Unfortunately, in the wake of discussions, a (now deleted) “reward” with the purpose to incur emotional distress to Executive Producer, Disha, has surfaced in retaliation on the administration. Even if the intention to bring light to administrator’s faults is in good nature, it is saddening that the go-to method was toxicity, the very thing that was expected of the league to address.

Are the criticisms on the administration’s tardiness valid? Absolutely. We can understand the frustration the United Front Alliance experienced, especially in the midst of such a close war. The administration apologizes to the United Front Alliance and seeks resolution.

After our insistence to Superhero123, the word “lynch” has been filtered from Battleground. This understandably may cause confusion considering the league did not forcibly end the war over the usage of the word but we want to make sure that, moving forward, these sort of tactics of which can be misconstrued are not possible to perform in the first place. We look forward to future developments and discussions.
