KLONDIKE, CP Army Headquarters – The legend committee have totalled votes from the community and the committee members, and we are now in a position to reveal the new set of CPA and SM Legends for 2021.
Before we get to the results, I would like to reiterate the process. The main committee is made up of 13 individuals, who will all have an equal say in proceedings and have one vote per candidate. Candidates need 7 votes (or 8 votes, in the case of SM inductions due to the extra 2 members) in order to be inducted into the legends page this year, as they would hold an overall majority of the committee at this threshold. Below are the individuals that make up the this year’s legend committee:
- Iceyfeet1234 – 2008 Army Legend
- Mchappy – 2011 Army Legend
- Kingfunks4 – 2013 Army Legend
- Orange – 2016 SM Army Legend
- Silverburg – 2017 Army Legend
- DMT – 2019 Army Legend
- Superhero123 – 2019 Army Legend
- Koloway – 2019 Army Legend
- 32op – 2019 Army Legend
- Crazzy – 2020 Army Legend
- Ayan – 2020 Army Legend
- Regan – 2020 Army Legend
- CSY – 2020 Army Legend
The following are only voting on SM Legends, aided by the main committee:
- Freedomist – 2020 SM Army Legend
- Lightningmcj – 2020 SM Army Legend
Without further adieu, I can now present to you the newly inducted legends and SM legends for 2021. I will first present the totals for the community vote, and then the combined results with the final outcome is found underneath.
Community Votes
* Please note that some unverified votes were removed for violation of our community vote terms. While we do not ban armies from promoting the voting form, even for their own candidates, we very clearly said in our post that it is against the rules to instruct troops to vote ‘No’ on other nominations. Therefore, as this was a clear violation of the rules, and the votes were unverified, any of these votes were removed. Templar candidates did not receive any bonus votes before the removal of these votes (as even with these votes, Templar nominations received less than 35%), it merely had an impact on the rest of the nominees – particularly SM candidates where Templar troops voted ‘no’ to everyone. Verified Templar HCOM, Staff and Leaders that voted ‘yes’ on these two candidates did, however, have their vote upheld.

Congratulations to Flamez, who becomes the 80th person to be inducted as a CP Army Legend and takes sole position under the 2021 year. His work for the Ice Warriors was significant, as he pushed the army to the top of our community, whilst winning the March Madness to beat the Rebel Penguin Federation in a tournament for the first time in a considerable stretch of time. Also congratulations to our new S/M legends, Mare and Amber, who made SWAT and Silver Empire respectively medium armies that challenged the more dominant armies in our community. To those who did not get in, we appreciate that 2021 was a difficult year for many reasons which made your job much harder, and hopefully 2022 is a more united front that will give people more opportunities.
Thank you to everyone who got involved in the process this year, including those who voted on the form, as every vote helped with discussions and debates that were held. Again, congratulations to the new legends and hopefully we can have a successful 2022.
Personal closing words on the legends inductions system:
The current legend committee formed when there were highly controversial inductions made by the CPA Wiki, as well as low-level inductions by previous organisations since CPA Central. Initially, we formed the legend committee at CP Army Hub to be able to review some of the more controversial legend selections – we removed Bert, Sammie and Zuke among others, who we feel had slipped through poor process. The new committee, which I am glad is now able to run independently of organisations, in my opinion ran a smooth inductions process in 2020 as our inductions almost identically matched the community. I am confident that the standards for legend had been reinstated by the committee and the process was pretty robust.
I am satisfied with how the legend process worked again this year. There has been some noise from selected individuals about the process, but in my view this has been a small minority and those who have complained have either offered no solution, or are not happy about either receiving legend or being on the committee itself. The committee had a wide range of individuals from across the community, including those with backgrounds from IW, RPF, ACP, WV, DCP, SWAT, PZF, Templars, SP and many other armies. We decided to include only ex-legends once again in the committee, mainly to formulate a ‘qualifier’ for being involved, and only those who had we deemed to have enough activity during the year.
Moving forward, the only part of the process I feel may need reviewing is the community vote. Rowan has suggested a vote-per-army system, which could help in reducing the popularity contest which we currently see with the community vote (which is why the contribution of community vote is so low to the actual outcome). It is no surprise that the IW and RPF leaders received the highest amount of community votes (although, you could say they were the most successful leaders so deserved more votes). This will be reviewed before the next inductions, but the system will largely stay the same.
However, I would like to confirm that I will not be involved with the committee for the next set of inductions and will be stepping down from my role. Iceyfeet and Mchappy will, as it stands, remain as heads of the committee and we will discuss whether another individual needs to take the role to fill in what I have done. I am stepping down as I intend to wind down my involvement across the whole community, and feel now is the time to make this clear so someone else can champion the process. All I ask is that the community continues to support the board, to keep the board independent of news organisations if there are more than one around and to not return to the poor and unstructured systems we had prior to the formation of the committee. I am glad that I could play my part in reinstating the legend title to its true glory, and I ask of you to maintain this standard.
