This week, we witnessed the Qualifying round of the annual March Madness tournament take place. To gain further insight into the battles that occurred, we asked community members to share their opinions.

March Madness is an annual tournament with a rich history in the army community. Introduced in 2013, the event became one of the most recognised competitions, with several editions taking place over the years under different organisers. Though it took a hiatusĀ after the shutdown of Club Penguin andĀ Club Penguin Army Central, the tournament returned in 2020 during the CPPS era, and the community is participating once more in 2026, with March Madness XI commencing last week with its qualifierĀ round.
Shadow LegionnariesĀ vsĀ Romans

SL vs Romans – Cove
Last week, the Shadow Legionnaries and the Romans clashed in a tough battle. Sizes were extremely close throughout the battle, with the largest difference being only 1-2 sizes between the armies. Despite a tough battle, SL took the win, beating the Romans 2-1-0, securing their Quarter Final round spot, where they will face off against the Rebel Penguin Federation.
Help Force vs Fire Vikings

HF vs. FV – Docks
On the same Saturday, the Help Force and the Fire Vikings also faced off. This one was significantly less close, with HF maxing over 40 R1 and FV maxing one penguin. After R1, FV surrendered, giving Help Force the win. The army is set to face off against the Templars in the quarter-final round.
Water VikingsĀ vsĀ Cryo Vanguards

WV vs. CV – Cove
On Sunday, the Water Vikings were set to face the Cyro Vanguard. However, due to CV’s no-show in the battle, WV advanced to the Quarter Finals, where they were set to face the Aliens, who also dropped out of the tournament, immediately advancing WV to the Semi Finals.
Dark Warriors VS SCARLET REPUBLIC

SR vs. DW – Inside Mine
On that same Sunday, the Dark Warriors faced the Scarlet Republic. This battle, although it was not that close, with DW having 20 over the battle and SR having 4, was fun nevertheless and eventually resulted in a victory for the Dark Warriors, who are set to face the Army of Club Penguin in the Quarter Finals.
Club Penguin Armies reached out to various community members to find what they thought of the battles that took place.
Runa, Help Force HCOM: SR – DW: Scarlet Republic had less than DW, but DW held their ground and took the victory. Great match on both sides.
HF – FV: Help Force had the size advantage this round. Hat’s off to the two FV troops that showed up, showing great commitment and loyalty.
RM – SL: Both did really well, showed off amazing forms and coverage. Congratulations to Shadow Legionnaires for advancing, and to Romans for putting up a great fight.
WV – CV: Water Vikings win without a doubt, though, it would’ve been great to see what CV could do.Mashu, Teutons Advisor: SR vs DW: Based on the results. Valiant effort by the Scarlets, unfortunately, DW was too overwhelming to be challenged.
HF vs FV: Help Force takes the cake for showing the power of helping against another challenge. FV is commemorated for displaying an effort of showing up.
Romans vs Shadow Legionnaires: Even fight but Romans mostly have the upper hand for this one.
WV vs CV: No doubt, Water Vikings, a masterclass in tournaments take the cake in this one.Mary, Rebel Penguin Federation Troop: Romans vs SL: I thought the Romans would have a good chance in this battle, but SL ended up putting up the stronger fight. Congrats to both armies for the effort.
WV vs CV: CV didnāt show up, so it was an easy win for the Water Vikings.
SR vs DW: SR put up a great fight, but because of the size difference, the Dark Warriors had the advantage and secured the win.
HF vs FW:Another no-show, but with Help Forceās recent performance, they likely would have had a strong win against the Fire Warriors.Pranav, Dark Warriors HCOM: DW vs SR: Not surprised, except for SR’s max only being four.
WV vs CV: Not surprised, this makes sense for both armies
HF vs FV: Not surprised, FV is still growing
SL vs Romans: I knew this would be a close battle, but Romans have had some newer troops recently, and as a result of possible lack of experience, SL winning makes sense, considering they max similarly to the Romans.
From the community response, most people expected the outcome of the battles. As we move on to the next round of March Madness, we will see if perception shifts for what is to come. What did you think about these battles? Who do you think will win the Quarter Finals?
