2026 Winter Olympics

Every winter since 2017, the Rebel Penguin Federation hosted a Winter Olympics to celebrate the new year. Last year, they based it around Pokémon. This year is no different, except that the theme is Adventure Time, as announced in their introduction. The first of the three teams is Team Cometa, based on Finn and Jake, led by second-in-commands Buhnny, LittySkitty, and Moonlemur.  The second team is Team Dulce, based around Princess Bubblegum, and is led by second-in-command Ella and leader Gabegirl. Finally, the third team is Team Glacies, based on Ice King, led by leader Link3000 and second-in-command Cheesesteax.

Before the opening ceremony, RPF assigned teams randomly to ensure fairness, with each rebel assigned to a team. For each team, a “Rebel MVP” will be announced at the end of the week based on the highest spirit and attendance. Additionally, attending five events and either the opening or closing ceremony will result in the Rebel Olympian role, regardless. This year’s Winter Olympics run from January 25 to February 1. As per RPF’s Tuxedo Times #284, there will be 15 minigames across the week, all on Club Penguin Journey. To start this year’s Olympics, they held an opening event on January 25, with a max of 92 and an average of 89 across rooms.

Previous Renditions

To better understand what the Winter Olympics will look like, we will look at past years. In 2022, RPF held a Shrek-themed Olympics, but with four teams instead of the current three. Because only a few private servers were available in January 2022, this version took place exclusively on Club Penguin Rewritten. To ensure fairness across time zones, they hosted five separate minigames with AUSIA, EU, and US versions. The five minigames were Cart Surfing, Dance Contest, Pizzatron 3000, Catching Waves, and Sled Racing. The following year saw four teams again, with a Frozen theme. Events in 2023 were all on Club Penguin Army Battleground, replacing the Cart Surfing and Sled Racing minigames with Finding Four and Bean Counters, respectively.

2024 was the first time that the Winter Olympics only included three teams instead of four. This year was also the first time that RPF held events on both CPAB and Club Penguin Journey. Events included a meme-creation contest, Bean Counters, Card Jitsu, Dance Contest, Catching Waves, and Pizzatron 3000. Minigames in 2025 included Cart Surfer, Card Jitsu, Bean Counters, Hydro Hoppers, and Pizzatron. While RPF has not announced all events for the upcoming week yet, we can expect them to be a mix and match of previous events to match the adventuring theme.

To learn more about this year’s Olympics, Club Penguin Armies reached out to  Link3000 for more information.

How will this year’s Winter Olympics transcend previous iterations of RPF Olympics, and what, if any, changes will be made from last year?

Not many changes actually this year aside from maybe a couple of the specific games we will be playing. I know it can seem redundant for things to be the same but because Olympics happen only twice a year, we find that people still enjoy regardless. In future Olympics, we are hoping to bring back 4 teams instead of 3.

What led RPF to settle on the theme of ‘Adventure Time’?

We decided Adventure Time based on what was available on the CPJ catalogue and also because it was easy to come up with 3 distinct teams. Additionally, we have had people in the past request this theme and since it is quite popular, we decided to give it a go. So far it’s been perceived well.

Considering that the Winter Olympics are one of the favourites of RPF, how is the hype surrounding it this year?

Hype has been absolutely amazing. We did expect good turnout, given how successful our Summer Olympics were and also how much people seem to enjoy them regardless, but people seem to be very much into the spirit of the week. Our opening ceremony maxed over 90 which was amazing to see, and everyone seems quite eager for the game tournaments to start.

Anything else to add?

We hope people enjoy this week!

As always, the Rebel Penguin Federation Olympics has built up much hype within the army. It is certainly a calming phase for the army and the wider community, as we come out of multiple recent wars. We wish the best of luck to all three teams. Which team do you think will take the victory this year? How will this year’s Olympics influence other armies to attempt their own versions?
