With Operation: WinterStorm ongoing, we have seen the tensions arising, both between the teams and within them. There have already been several invasions and battles, with many more scheduled to happen in the following days.

Introduction
Operation: Winterstorm is a community map tournament that works as a beta for the new upcoming map, which will fully launch next week. It includes a new economy system and items such as ships, planes, bombs and nukes. The full map will also contain intel and storage. Community members were split into teams of four colours: Black, Blue, Green, Red. The teams aim to be the ones with the most land at the end of the tournament on Sunday. So far, we have seen loads of freeland invasions and several battles, with the intensity rising more and more each day.
For the next 24 hours alone, at the time this post is being written, there are nine invasions scheduled by all four armies. Seven of those are against another team. That is impressive, given that the maximum possible number of battles in a day is eight. We see battles between all teams, but the two largest conflicts right now are between Blue and Green and Red and Black. Four out of nine invasions are between Green and Blue. Also, we saw the first nuke being used today, as Black nuked the Red owned Summit.
Black Team Instability
Not everything goes well for everyone, though. The Black team has found itself defending against two other teams on two fronts. A team that was initially several people’s favor has been found to be struggling. The team was initially led by Clade, Justin, and Scars, who held the most votes in the team election, and was the first to schedule invasions as soon as the map opened for the teams. They scheduled a total of three invasions, two of them being freeland and the last one being against the Red team. The Red team was the next to schedule invasions, one of which was against Rainbow, a server owned by Black.
The first invasion to happen was the one declared by the Reds, with it being successful as Black did not show up. Following that, Black successfully invaded Parka, a freeland for which they used a ship after losing connection to it, but then they were not able to max 5 in their freeland invasion of Fiesta, which ended up being unsuccessful. Additionally, the Summit invasion was invalidated as Black did not have adjacent land anymore.

The beginning of leadership changes
All these events brought instability within the Black team, causing Justin and Scars to retire and focus on their army instead. The next two most voted leaders took their place, Alu and Langly, with Alu quitting almost immediately as he was no longer interested. In the meantime, conflicts sparked among the Black team members. Later, Hampter filled the remaining empty spot, as he was the last person who had been interested in becoming a leader.
The following day, today, the turmoil continued with Langly choosing to step down for personal reasons. Throughout the day, the team decided to perform the first nuking, targetting Summit. Later, Subzero stepped up and took her place, with a coup happening as well, and Star taking Hampter’s place. Just a few hours ago, there were two battles taking place, back to back, with both being against Red. In the first one, the battle of the Migrator, the Red team managed to win both rooms, claiming the server. In the later one, the Black team managed to put more resistance, managing to tie a room and losing the other, with their invasion of the North Pole being unsuccessful. Despite being defeated, there has clearly been an improvement under the new leadership.
Club Penguin Armies reached out to the main Black team leader, Clade, to find out more about his team’s intentions and his opinion on the recent events.
After hearing Clade’s words, we also interviewed one of the Red team leaders, Zooy.
It seems like there is much tension between the two teams as of now. The Black team remains with only 5 servers, with 2 of them being invaded tomorrow. Will the Black team be able to turn the tide? How much do you think the new leadership will contribute? Have you liked the community tournament so far? Share your thoughts.
