BEAMED UP TO GLORY

Before Bestpenguin began his journey within the Aliens, BP, in June 2018, was enlisted in the Help Force after being recruited by his friend and HF creator, Ayan. This marked the beginning of his journey in the army. Originally drawn to the Helpers due to their stamp collection channels, BP continued to rank up. Later in 2018, BP met another community member named Sans, who came together to co-found the Aliens. Although neither knew it at the time, the Aliens soon grew into a major powerhouse.

An Aliens event in 2019

Despite remaining in the Help Force, BP always felt a strong attachment to the Aliens, continuing to support them occasionally. In April 2019, BP retired from the army community but returned two months later, in June, after observing the declining state of the Aliens. Seeing the army in a disorganized and inactive condition, BP took initiative to help restore it, with support from the Helpers and the growing Alien community. Under BP’s leadership, the Aliens grew from maxing under 10 to reaching sizes of 30+ in August, and even achieving sizes of 40+. That same month, the Aliens attained major army status and became a major AUSIA figure within the community.

Alien’s second anniversary

Bestpenguin was also responsible for taking charge of the International United Armies, a game-changing alliance group aimed at supporting small/medium armies through the unstable Club Penguin Online climate. The alliance assisted armies such as the Royals, Athletes, Tree Cult, Sky Troops, and the Miners. It played a crucial role in stabilizing the S/M community during a challenging period, with BP and the Aliens helping bring armies on the brink of closure to sizes of 25–35+, further emphasizing the strength and influence of the alliance.

Reign of the Aliens

The year 2020 proved to be another period of dominance for the Aliens under BP’s leadership, as the army went toe to toe with major forces such as the Templars, Pirates, Light Troops, Ice Warriors, Dark Warriors, Special Weapons and Tactics, and the Golds. One of the most historic moments in BP’s army career was when the Aliens managed to defeat the Ice Warriors in several AUSIA conflicts, reaching sizes of 30+, an unprecedented achievement for the army. Despite challenges posed by timezone differences, the Aliens under BP consistently found success, maintaining both dominance and reliability within the community. In recognition of his continued contributions, it is no surprise that Bestpenguin was awarded the title of Alien’s Legend.

Aliens VS the Ice Warriors

Despite the closure of the Aliens’ second generation, BP had already established himself as a strong and prominent army leader. In July 2024, when the Aliens opened for their third generation, Bestpenguin once again had the opportunity to showcase his consistent leadership. Within its first month of reopening, the army regained major status. Under BP’s command, the Aliens participated in several major tournaments throughout 2024, including Project Conquest: Blood Bowl, and most notably defeated the Templars in the quarterfinals of Christmas Chaos XIV, reaching sizes of 45+. This achievement not only emphasized the army’s remarkable growth but also underscored BP’s dedication as a leader, bringing the Aliens from nothing to everything.

BP in the Aliens’ Hall of Fame

To learn more about the legacy he left behind, Club Penguin Armies sat down with Bestpenguin to gain insight about his experiences.

In what ways do you believe your leadership approach has contributed to the growth of the Aliens and their increasing influence within the community?

My leadership style is unique. For me, building strong relationships and creating a safe, welcoming space is what makes an army truly successful. I focus on three main things: community, creativity, and consistency. I always try to make sure everyone feels loved and appreciated. Our events, like musical chairs, are fun and creative, and we hold them regularly. Because of that, we’ve stayed in the top 5 armies and even reached first place twice this year. Even though my style is more fun based, still under my leadership the Aliens have also shown great competitive strength during tournaments and battles. Honestly, I’m able to achieve my goals because of the amazing people in Aliens. Everyone is kind, welcoming, and full of love. I feel what we have in Aliens is truly special we’re out of this world. We’ve shown that to run a successful army, you don’t need hate or wars. All you need is love and understanding in your heart.🫶

In your view, what is one of the most essential qualities a modern leader must possess to establish a lasting legacy?

Modern leaders should lead with compassion, understanding, and loyalty. They should create armies that feel like a home where people feel safe, valued, and loved under their leadership. If they achieve that i think they will definetly leave a lasting legacy in everyone’s heart and memories.

Since assuming your leadership role, which achievement has stood out to you the most, and why does it hold particular significance for you?

I’ve had many achievements in Aliens, but one of the biggest was leading the army back to major status just 40 days after our revival. However, the achievement that means the most to me is definitely Christmas Chaos 2024. During that tournament, we showed everyone how strong we really are. We proved that we’re not just about having fun or using rogues to max, we can battle and perform incredibly well too. Reaching the semi-finals, even when many people didn’t believe we could, was a proud moment for all of us in aliens.

From your personal experience, what guidance would you offer to future army leaders seeking to innovate and leave a lasting impact within the community?

From my personal experience, the guidance I’d like to offer is to lead with compassion and always treat others the way you’d want to be treated. At the end of the day, people might forget the battles and wars but they’ll always remember how you made them feel. What I’ve learned from the Aliens community is that kindness has the power to make a real, positive difference in someone’s life. In the end, it’s not the wins that matter most, it’s the hearts you touch along the way. Be kind. Be helpful. Be someone’s reason to smile. ❤️🥺

Bestpenguin’s leadership stands as a key symbol of carving a legacy from the shadows. Leading the Aliens from times of turmoil to moments of success showcases how strong efforts can go a long way in building lasting glory. Through his continued dedication to the community, BP’s contributions to the S/M army scene, and his commitment to giving back, demonstrated that effective leadership stems not only from concentrated effort but also from uplifting those around you and helping them grow. Do you think future leaders should lead from Bestpenguin’s example? What can we learn from his remarkable leadership achievements?
