LEADERSHIP CHANGES IN ICE WARRIORS & WAR WITH REBEL PENGUIN FEDERATION

By 2014, Ice Warriors had established itself as one of the strongest armies in the community. At the same time, the army stood out due to its few leaders over the seven years it had existed thus far. During their seventh year, the army saw the retirement of Bearsboy10, its third leader. With his retirement, the torch passed onto Tes7 and SurferbSoysc. Given the former’s lack of leadership experience, the future of IW seemed uncertain.

Furthermore, the army’s low maxes in a practice battle against Army of Club Penguin left much room for improvement. Soon after, the army’s raid on Rebel Penguin Federation‘s capital with Nachos increased the opportunities for the new leaders to prove themselves. Following the raid, IW declared war on RPF as the first major war of the new leadership. In early February, the war ended with favorable terms for both armies. Land returns occurred as no official winner was declared in the conflict. Regardless, IW viewed the war as a win, with the war score in their favor. Ultimately, the treaty signed between IW and RPF limited conflict for the foreseeable future.

IW vs. RPF – Battle of Matterhorn

Special Weapons and Tactics’ founding & early history

A couple of years after IW’s creation, Ganger90 founded Special Weapons and Tactics, an army that consisted of rogues. The army quickly conflicted with ACP over who owned the server of Mammoth. The server served as one of the most important army servers and resulted in many conflicts over who possessed it. During World War IV, many armies banded together to stop ACP’s attempts to gain sole control of the server. These armies included iW, Nachos, Underground Mafias Army, RPF, Black Jackets, and Watex Warriors. Their efforts succeeded with ACP’s near-destruction as the army took months to recover from their defeat in the war. However, SWAT’s conflicts with ACP turned out very differently, with no clear victor. Additionally, the army played an important part in the Black Alliance vs. White Alliance wars, meant to destroy ACP.

Battle of Mammoth – 2011

After some time, these conflicts helped the army grow big enough to defeat Nachos and ACP, two powerhouses, in Club Penguin Army Central‘s Champions Cup tournament in 2012. While they didn’t win the tournament, their performance proved they could be competitive with larger armies. Consequently, Ganger90 left the army after leading for several years. While he eventually returned, the army saw a drop in size that culminated in the army’s shutdown. After months of downtime, the army returned in November 2013 under the leadership of Spi101. Thus, the army entered a new era of leadership and began a new generation.

Events After Return & Beginnings of A New War

Following the army’s return, they engaged in many conflicts with armies such as Golds, UMA, and Romans. After these conflicts concluded, the army faced a new challenge when tensions led to a war with IW. Meanwhile, the leader of SWAT, Taco, was exposed for multilogging at events. Furthermore, Tempah and Lights717 found themselves banished from SWAT after an argument with another leader. Before these events, the army concluded an indecisive war with ACP, as another major event in the two armies’ rivalry.  IW also faced similar changes as Kingsfunk4 and Tes7 joined the leadership team as the war with SWAT began. Therefore, the armies both experienced great changes that factored into the outcome of the war. In the first battle, SWAT no-showed as the event took place during their worst division. While the next battle was close, IW was still victorious, as the following confrontation was disputed between the two armies. As the war progressed, IW achieved the most victories as SWAT struggled.

Battles of ROCKY ROAD & Subzero – May 19, 2014

After multiple battles, IW appeared to be in the best position to come out victorious in the war. On May 19, the war continued after IW’s successful invasion of the historic server of Mammoth during the previous day. Subsequently, SWAT aimed to turn the tide in the war with a successful defense of Rocky Road. Their attempt was unsuccessful as they surrendered the battle due to a size disadvantage. In the second battle of the day, iW successfully defended their capital of Subzero as SWAT’s struggles continued. As a result, the war ended days later with a clear IW victory after the most wins in the war. In short, IW won the war due to its superior size and no-shows from SWAT.

Conclusion

Over the years, both IW and SWAT went through many ups and downs. For the Ice Warriors, the army established itself as one of the largest armies through its successes in tournaments and wars. On the other hand, SWAT still had to recover from their shutdown and return from 2013 to the mid-way point of 2014. Thus, the army did not compete well during their war against IW and showed they had much room for improvement. Their struggles represent how instability can greatly hurt an army and make it harder for them to be competitive. Ultimately, SWAT was not in the best position to fight IW in May 2014. What do YOU think of the two armies? Why do YOU think SWAT did not do well in the war? What other cases of instability in armies have YOU seen? What is the best way to deal with such situations?
